Chapter 7: My daughter is rather fond of her father.

AN: Sorry it's been a while guys! Trying to find the balance with uni and work starting back up again.

Rory was walking down the halls of her high school with her best friends Neve and Tansi, the threesome had quickly become best friends and had spent all of their time together in and out of school. Rory was excited because tomorrow they were coming to NCIS to visit because both her parents were having to work the weekend, so they were planning on visiting and hanging out around the building. Rory wanted to introduce her friends to her extended family.

Since the whole team new about the existence of one Aurora Joy Shepard-Gibbs, Rory was spending a lot more time at NCIS after school and her mom and dad were leaving at more respectable times.

"Shall we meet by the lockers after last period?" Tanis asked and Neve nodded.

"I've got this singing assignment in music so you guys can go wait in the SUV if you want in case it runs over." Neve and Tansi nodded, they often went to the mall on a Friday after school, and because of Rory's detail it meant they got to take the SUV instead of the bus. Rory would give anything to be a normal kid who took the bus but getting on the bus with two armed federal agents just drew too many stares and hushed whispers, Rory should know they tried it once.

"What was the assignment again?" Neve asked, Neve and Rory had all of the same classes except Rory did music whilst Neve did art. Tansi had a totally different timetable but her and Neve had been friends since they were 2.

"We had to pick a song that meant something to us and play it on an instrument of our choice or vocally."

"What song did you choose?" Neve asked just as the bell went and Rory winked at her friends before walking off in the direction of her music class.

Rory enjoyed music class, she loved singing and performing, and she had learned how to play piano while at St Edmunds. There were some people in her music class who were good, but others weren't fab. Rory had been trying super hard in music as she wanted to join the schools glee club, there wasn't an auditions process, you have to be invited by the teacher and Rory was hoping her assignment would allow her to be accepted into the club. They didn't allow people to join until sophomore year, but Rory was hoping that just maybe she could be the exception.

"Rory it's your turn," Mrs Bowman said. Rory stood up a little nervous and began to sing her chosen song, illicit affairs by Taylor Swift. Rory noticed that when she was signing everyone was watching, impressed. Since she had started at Quantico there hadn't been any opportunities for her to sing, it was a nice feeling to be able to sing again. Singing gave Rory a sense of relief from all of her problems.

As soon as Rory finished the bell rang, everyone clapped, and Rory scurried off to get her bag. "Rory can you wait a second," Mrs Bowman asked, and Rory nodded and sat down at her desk. "Rory you are a very talented singer."

"Thank you," Rory said with a smile on her face.

"The song was sung with much power and emotion, something people don't every get in their lifetime, but you have it and so young too. May I ask how you relate to the song? I am assuming you aren't having some illicit affair." Mrs Bowman asked and Rory giggled shaking her head.

"Okay so this sounds really bad but basically my mom was a single mom, and when I was about 7 she began working as an NCIS agent. Well to cut a long story short my mom had an affair with her married boss." Rory caught the subtle look of shock on her teachers face but continued. "Anyway, not a good situation but they fell in love and then he adopted me so now he's my dad, but with the song, when I heard the lyrics I interpreted it like someone looking in on the affair. Does that make sense?" Rory asked out of fear she sounded like a crazy person

"Yes, it does, can you point out to me particular parts where it felt like that?" Mrs Bowman asked curiously, it intrigued her that the young girl had such a way to interpret music.

"Sure!" Rory nodded excitedly and brought out the sheet music, "okay so the first bit is probably in verse one where it says 'what started in beautiful rooms ends with meetings in parking lots', so for me that has two meanings like they started working in all these nice places and then it became secret moments in the parking garage at work and really now they aren't together anymore so they went from having this exciting affair to doing pick up and drop offs in a parking lot."

"I can see how you can see it, so when does the song become about you?" She asked curiously and watched as Rory's face lit up.

"okay so here," she points at the bridge, " basically the whole bridge I saw from my point of view about how when it all went pear shaped they began to try and make it okay, but they left me in some mess! I had the opportunity to have a family and they both threw it way, and at the outro at the end it says, 'for you I would ruin myself a million little times' well for me, I would sacrifice a lot for my parents every time." Rory looked at her teacher who seemed to be impressed.

"Very impressive Rory, the work you put into this assignment has been very good," she paused for a moment, "I run the glee club and was wondering if you wanted to join?" Rory's jaw almost hit the floor.

"I would love too!" She said with sheer excitement.

"I have a role I think you would be good for," Rory nodded with excitement, "we meet Monday and Thursday after school and Wednesday lunch time."

"I will be there!" Rory exclaimed and grabbed her bag and heading for the door, "thank you." Rory said before basically running to her friends, she was so excited to tell everyone her news.

Team Gibbs were hard at work trying to find out who was framing Tony for murder, they had been interrogating a lieutenant who had an axe to grind with Tony, but she had been on her honeymoon and therefore her alibi was solid.

"Boss, do you really not know what coitus interruptus means?" McGee asks as him and Gibbs exit integration.

Gibbs glares at him, "better question, do you know what it means if you haven't located Stewart?" He barks and McGee runs away in fear to find out the location of Stewart

Ziva is leaning against the wall, observing, "my father used to say אש קטנה שורפת הרבה תירס"

"Translate." Gibbs barked at her pissed off at the whole situation, he was unable to help his senior field agent and Gibbs did not like being unable to do something.

Unbeknown to him Jenny walked around the corner, "a little fire burns a great deal of corn" Jenny answered for him.

Gibbs looked at her with a confused look on his face "what?"

"It never really made sense to me either, but Rory thinks it's hilarious." Jenny smiled.

"It loses something in translation," Ziva says while looking between Gibbs and Jenny, "Director" she excuses herself and walks off to find out what she can do to help her partner.

"There's no reason to be petulant Jethro." Jenny hisses

"The word is pissed Jen!" he taunts "you know what you can drop the Director act we're alone." Jenny stops abruptly.

"you think my job is an act." She bates him, she had been dying to have it out with him for weeks, but she couldn't because of Rory.

"Not all of it no," he pauses, "ass kissing on the hill is a skill." He spits and Jenny uses all of the power in her body not to sock him one.

"So is castration." She hisses.

"I wear a cup." He barks back at her, they have a moment, their eyes doing all of the talking before she smacks a piece of paper into his chest. "What is this?" Gibbs asks curious.

"George Stewarts alias and work address," she said tartly. "I managed to find it between kissing asses." She hisses at him as she turns on her heels and walks away from furious.

"It just proves you should have stayed a field agent!" He yells after her and nods when she doesn't turn back to him, she got the last word.

Jenny storms back into her office and grabs her gun from her desk drawer, "Cynthia I don't have anything else on today do I?" Jenny asks walking to her secretary's desk with her gun attached to her hip.

"No ma'am," noticing her bosses gun and demeaner Cynthia gives her a funny look, "is everything okay Director?" she asks.

Jenny takes a deep breath, "I am off to the gun range," Jenny assistant was still looking at her concerned. "I either go to the shooting range Cynthia or I shoot Agent Gibbs in the head and my daughter is rather fond of her father." Cynthia smirks at that, there was truly only one person who could get her boss that pissed off. "If Rory gets here before I am back just send her down, but she's out shopping with her friends and she takes her love for shopping from me." Jenny chuckles as she heads down to the shooting range.

Rory had got back to NCIS and was down in the gun range watching her mom shoot a target, double tap to the heart, one to the head and a few into the manhood area, dad must've pissed her off, Rory thought as she walked over to her mom who had taken the clip out of her gun.

"What did daddy do now?" Rory asked her mother who just gave her a look.

"Who says it was your father who has pissed me off?" Jenny teased her daughter.

"Only person who can make you want to go shoot a gun is daddy," Rory says matter of factly, "oh and you shot the poor target in the dick, dad defos pissed you off."

Jenny rolled her eyes at her daughter, "watch your mouth," she scolds. "Nothing of your concern, all is well don't worry, how was school?" Jenny asked in a hope of being able to change the topic. She felt much better after getting some shots off, it was Rory's weekend with Jethro so Jenny was going home to take a warm bubble bath and relax, she may even take up an old flame offer for some drinks just so she could get laid.

"It was so good; my assignment went well and Mrs Bowman wants me to join glee club!" Rory exclaimed and Jenny picked her daughter up and spun her around.

"Well done I'm so proud of you baby! Your dad will be too, let's go tell him." Jenny said taking her daughter in the direction of NCIS.

"Thanks for shooting the target instead of daddy mom, I am quite fond of him." Rory said sweetly and Jenny laughed linking arms with her daughter as they walked back to NCIS.
