On Febuary 11th 2015, Sage and her father had been informed Claire had now blackmailed the Child Services into adopting Valentina, therefore violating Matt and Alma's will. Owen and his daughter felt violated, too, since they knew it meant Claire would spoil Valentina and turn her into a miniature version of Claire herself. However, the two Gradies learned that Luke Dunford also felt violated and betrayed, since he knew Sage and her father were responsible persons who knew how to raise a child.
Speaking of Sage and her father, they were begrudgingly helping some workers to transfer Valentina's stuff into Claire's house, putting furniture and clothes into big crates before loading said crates into trucks before they drove away. The wise teenager and her father then went to their daily routine at the Utahraptor Paddock.
Once at the paddock, Sage exited the family's jeep and walked towards Barry and Cain, who were waiting for her at the top of the railing. The teenager then began the dialogue, much to everyone's surprise.
"Did you hear about Valentina and Claire?"
"Yeah. That's awful! Valentina will be turned into a real monster." Cain replied with genuine anger in his voice.
"True, Valentina has a lot of similarities with Claire, so I'm not surprised the latter managed to blackmail Child Services." Owen told the trio.
With that said, Owen saw his daughter begin the new training, which involved a pig chase followed by the usual occupation of the four Utahraptors. But then, Sage began a new series of training. Sternly watching an angry Blue, Sage told her, "Blue! Watch it!"
Blue calmed down, allowing Sage to tell her, "Jump!" Blue jumped and caugh a chunk of meat Sage casually dropped in the paddock. Sage then saw Charlie and called on her, "Charlie!"
Charlie then looked at Sage while the teenager took a piece of wood and displayed it for the green Utahraptor. "Charlie, track this!" Sage ordered while she raised the stick. Charlie jumped on the railing before letting go and landing on the ground. Sage then awarded Charlie with a huge dead lizard, which the Utahraptor promptly ate. Sage then ordered Delta to run alone and catch a fake pig made of meat, which Delta quickly did. Echo, which was the most disobedient one, was told by Sage to find the teenager's own hat and bring it to the barbican. But Sage also told Echo to only use her sense of smell before going away and dropping her hat in the paddock.
Fortunately, just as Sage and the three adults with her were rushing down the stairs and entering the barbican, Echo had found Sage's hat, knowing the teen's smell by heart. Echo therefore gave Sage her cap through the bars before the teen awarded the raptor with a huge chunk of meat. Sage then nodded, meaning the Utahraptors were now free to go.
"Wow! I'm really impressed!" Barry told Sage. "But what did you do?"
"Individual exercises. Just in case one of them is sick or something." Sage explained.
Barry, Cain and Owen nodded to the teenager before the latter went to the docks with her bike, knowing there were two newcomers thanks to Dale and Wu.
Speaking of them, they were at the docks waiting for Sage to introduce her to two newcomers named Alex Wallace and Sofia Jones. The two of them were given a job by Masrani to help out in the park, especially the Raptor Paddock and the Hybrid Kingdom, the name given to Arya and Lila's paddock.
On the ferry to Isla Nublar, Alex Wallace, a young blonde woman in her twenties, and her Sofia Jones, a young Hispanic woman with dark hair, were sitting on a bench on the deck of the ship. Alex had met Sofia in high school, when they were still in their teens, and the two of them became instant friends. Now, they were going to Jurassic World to meet their first boss. Both of them liked singing, dinosaurs, science and law, which made them best friends.
As the ship was comming closer to the island, Alex was increasingly nervous and tapped her bestie's shoulder. Sofia turned to Alex and asked, "What's wrong Alex?"
"Well I don't know what kind of armed guy or armed girl will welcome us on the pier. I heard they had more guns then employees. Twice as many to be exact." Alex confessed.
"I don't know either, but don't worry. Most if not all of the security and handlers were service members or SWAT guys. Moreover, the guys in Main Street are skilled with small arms. Should dinosaurs escape." Sofia reassured her friend.
Alex let out a sigh of relief and smiled at her friend before the two of them went in their cabin and retrieved their stuff. The two of them then went upon the deck and prepared disembark the ferry. A while after, the two newcomers exited the ferry once the gangplanks were opened. Once on the pier, Alex saw a girl in her middle teens dressed in surplus-bought military clothes and wearing a kevlar tactical vest next to two men wearing lab coats and jeans. What made Alex uncomfortable was the fact this teen girl was carrying a rifle. Just as Sofia came next to her, Alex attracted her friend's attention.
"Do you see what I see?" Alex asked her friend showing the teenager.
"Yeah. I think they're waiting for us." Sofia told, now feeling uncomfortable.
The two young females then passed several park rangers, who were armed with assault rifles and equiped with tactical gear, before joining the two scientists and the teenager. Then, the Asian one introduced everyone.
"Hi, my name is Henry Wu. And this is Dale Carlson." Henry told Alex and Sofia.
"Hi, I'm Alex Wallace and this is Sofia Jones. But who is the teenager with the rifle?" Alex politely said.
"Sage Grady." Sage dryly answered.
"You have to forgive her, she's not used to seeing new employees everyday. And don't take care of the rifle. Everyone living here must have and keep a firearm." Dale vouched for the trio.
"Dale's right. I know him cause my mother used to be his best apprentice. But she worked for the DARPA before meeting my father." Sage told the two newcomers.
"Yes. And that's a nice hat you're wearing." Alex told in a sincerely happy voice.
"Yeah, belonged to my father when he was a Navy Corpsman with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit. And the clothes belonged in part to him, in part to my grandfather Earl and in part to military surplus." Sage explained.
"Makes sense. But what's this gun?" Sofia asked the teenager.
"This rifle is a Colt M4A1 carbine. I fitted it with an EoTech Hybrid Holo Sight, an AN/PEQ-2 pointer, a vertical grip, a Pentagonlight MD3R torchlight and a Crane buttstock." Sage explained, detailling how she customized her M4A1 carbine.
With that, the two scientists, the two new employees and Sage boarded Wu's car and they drove to the Raptor Paddock, where Wu stopped and went to Owen. Wu was soon followed by Dale and Sage with Sofia and Alex in tail. Owen and his two friends saw Alex and Sofia coming for the trio.
"Hi. Name's Owen Grady. This Barry Sembène and Cain Dunning." Owen introduced.
"Hi. What's your position there?" Sofia asked.
"Owen's the Overseer of the Utahraptor Program. Barry's the Deputy Overseer and I'm the Chief of Security for this very program." Cain vouched for his two friends.
"I see. When do we..." Alex told before being interrupted.
Turning around, she saw Sage and tapped her friend's shoulder, prompting Sofia to turn around. Sofia saw Sage holding two other M4A1 carbines, one in each hand. Alex and Sofia reluctantly took a rifle each before following Owen and Cain to the shooting range nearby. Once at the shooting range, the two adults let Sage handle the situation.
"Alright. First things first. Put the goggles and headset in front of you on. For safety." Sage instructed the two employees.
Sofia and Alex then put the ballistic and hearing protections on before handling their rifle in a rather uncomfortable fashiong, having never fired a weapon before. Sage then slung her M4A1 rifle before setting herself while Sofia and Alex watched standing on the teenager's right. Sage took a stable stance and shouldered her rifle before flicking the safety switch to Semi mode. Sage then fired seven times at a paper target, representing an AK-armed bad guy, before the teenager checked her rifle and secured it.
"That's all there is to it. Just tuck your weapon in your shoulder, aim down the sights and fire. Remember to check your rifle like I did. And if you are to reload, then do it by pushing the release button and letting the magazine fall. If your rifle's empty, then hit the bolt release. But remember, always pick empty magazines up. Your turn." Sage told them while showing them how to properly shoot and.
Alex and Sofia, being right-handed, set themselves and fired their first seven rounds at pop-up targets, hitting them all. Then, they secured their weapons before earning a nod from Sage, who led them to a set of lockers. As they opened their locker thanks to a code specifically texted to them, Alex and Sofia discovered tactical clothes and combat equipment in these lockers and understood Sage took them to an elaborate shooting range.
After getting dressed, Sofia and her friend followed Sage to a fake house, upon which the trio switched the safety of their rifle off, before going in and shooting any armed-bad-guy paper target appearing in front of them. Upon stumbling at a corner, Sage motioned Alex and Sofia to stop before letting out a stun grenade. The teen then tossed it right before it exploded before bursting out of nowhere and firing her rifle at the paper target, which represented a woman about to execute an innocent man. Sofia then took the lead and shot four other paper targets before being forced to reload. Sofia did as Sage taught her just as the latter and Alex went in front. Alex spotted another target and shot it down. The trio then stacked at a door, giving Alex time to reload her M4A1 carbine. Sage then kicked the door before Sofia tossed a primed stun grenade in the room.
Just as the grenade exploded, Sofia and Alex came in the room and shot the last targets and ending the training on a perfect score. Sage fist-bumped the two young employees before the trio went back to the paddock, where Cain, Barry and Owen were waiting for them.
"Good score for beginners." Owen told Alex and Sofia as they checked their safety, which was fortunately engaged.
"Thanks Owen. That's why everyone working and living here must have a weapon and follow a weapon training course." Sofia correctly answered as she saw ten employees exiting a truck.
"True. And meet Lowery Cruthers, Vivian Krill and Vic Hoskins. They take care of the rest of the park." Dale introduced.
Lowery, Vivian and Hoskins warmly greeted their newly-arrived colleagues before setting themselves for some weapon training. As the weapon training went on, Sage took over and led Alex and Sofia to the Hybrid Kingdom, where they met Nicholas Letting and Nick Kilgore.
"Hi, guys. Heard about the new ones?" Sage asked Letting.
"Yeah, we did." Letting politely replied.
Just as Letting greated them, Sofia saw Arya and Lila coming out of nowhere. Sofia and Alex pointed their recently-reloaded M4A1 carbine at the glass before switching the safety off. Letting and Kilgore didn't even point their G36KV carbine at the glass, as they knew Arya and Lila did this joke to everyone.
"They always do that." a park ranger informed Alex and Sofia.
As they heard this, the two new employees lowered their rifle and put the safety on. The two new employees then followed Sage as the teenager rode her bike through the rest of the park. But at the end of the day, Alex and Sofia were tired and went to their employee home, where they unpacked and set their things up.
In her house, Alex saw a board saying everyone living in the park must have a weapon and keep it at all times, confirming what Dale told them at the pier. Alex also remarked Owen had a Marlin Model 1895 SBL rifle across his back while Barry had a Remington 870 under his armpit. The blonde also saw Cain always had a Heckler&Koch HK416 rifle in hands. Alex then inspected her M4A1 carbine before putting it on her bed and starting to write a letter to her parents.
At home, Sofia saw the same boards as in every other places in the park and immediately understood the employees and their children, if the employees brought their children with them, had to know how to use a gun. Hence the large number of firearms she saw in the park. Sofia then sat at her table and wrote a letter home while having her M4A1 carbine next to her.
