A couple days later Caleb and Cass come into the house the next morning as Jack, Tim, Lou and Mitch are all in the kitchen
"Are they back yet" Cass says as she closes the door behind them holding Jackson in her arms
"Not yet" Jack says as they walk further into the house "They left early this morning on Harley to go to the graveyard" he says continuing "I think Ty just wanted it to be something for him and Lyndy"
"But we're still having the breakfast when they get back" Tim says as he looks at him "Lilly is on her way too" he says when a month prior Lilly had moved into an apartment in Hudson after her and Wade had broken up
Just then Jackson starts to get fussy in Cass's arms as Jack walks over toward him
"Let me see my mini me" Jack says as he walks over as he takes Jackson out of Cass's arms "Hey buddy"
"You know he's never not going to stop saying that since we named Jackson after him right" Caleb says as he looks at Cass
"It's hard to believe" Cass says as she looks at him "This time last year we may have been on our way to having four kids" she finishes saying as they had found out the day before that they were actually expecting twins
"Yea" Caleb says as their memories run back to the year before as they sit in the waiting room at the hospital
"What are we going to do?" Cass says looking over at Caleb as they are sitting in the waiting room at the hospital
"What do you mean?" Caleb says as she looks at her
"If he doesn't make it" Cass says as Caleb starts to break in "No just listen to me, Lyndy has already lost one parent" she says continuing "And we don't fully know the extent of Ty's injuries" she says as Caleb continues to look at her "And this is the worst case scenario, but we are Lyndy's Godpapa and Godmama, and we need to be thinking about a plan if we have to take that step"
"You know when Amy and Ty asked us to be Lyndy's guardians" Caleb says as he looks over at her "And I think it's the same for anyone" he says looking at her "You never think anything will happen to the parents"
"Because it's too hard to imagine" Cass says as she looks back over at him
"But whatever happens, we'll figure it out" Caleb says as he looks at Cass "If it comes to that, we'll get through it together" he says continuing to looks at her as Cass lays her head on her shoulder "And she will be loved"
"She already is" Cass says as she looks back up at her "She's my Lyndy Bug" she says continuing
"She's our Lyndy Bug" Caleb says as he lays his head on top of Cass's head
"And she's still our Lyndy Bug" Cass says as she looks up smiling at Caleb as looks at her as they now have cups of coffee continuing to stand in the kitchen
"It's hard to believe that it's been a year already" Tim says as he looks at the others as he sit's at the table as he thinks back on that night "Amy has been gone a whole year"
"I'm so sorry Mr. Fleming" The doctor says as Jack and Tim get to the hospital as Tim comes out from identifying Amy's body "There was nothing we could do; she was killed on impact"
"I understand" Tim says as he continues to look at the doctor "How is my son-in-law doing?"
"Mr. Fleming, I'm not the type of doctor to sugar coat things so I'm going to give it to you straight" The doctor says looking at him "Your son-in-law has suffered major internal bleeding from his injuries" The doctor says as she looks at him "As well as other major trauma to his abdomen and chest" she says as he continues to look at him "He's in emergency surgery, and we're doing everything we can, but I would be prepared for the worse"
"You know" Jack says as he looks at them "It was hard enough losing Amy" he says continuing "But those first few days in the hospital with Ty" he says as they all look at him "That was hard, all the uncertainty"
"We all always came in to relieve one another" Lou says as she looks at them "But we never really left the hospital till he woke up almost a week later"
"And that may have been the hardest part of it all" Lilly says as they notice that she has now walked into the house "All the questions to be answered"
"Especially the one I had to answer" Jack says as he looks at them as he takes another sip of his coffee
Meanwhile Ty is bent down in front of a grave as Lyndy is leaned against his shoulder as he wipes the stone off as he himself thinks back to the year
He begins to open his eyes trying to focus on where he is as he looks over to see Jack at his bedside "Jack" he faintly whispers
"Ty" Jack says sitting up straight he leans over to where Ty is still trying to get his bearings as he continues to look around
"What happened?" Ty says as he tilts his head to the side to look at Jack "Where am I?"
"Ty" Jack says as he looks at him as Lou gets ready to round the corner as she stops in her tracks as Tim comes up from behind her to see what the hold up is as he stops as the look on "Ty there was an accident" he says continuing to look at him "On the way back from the horse sale the other night"
"Where's Amy at?" Ty says as he looks at him as he notices Lou and Tim standing in the doorway as they come further into the room "Is she okay?"
"Ty" Jack says as he tries to find the words as Ty begins to look at their facial expressions
"Jack" Ty says as he looks at him for some kind of comfort "she's okay isn't she?"
"Ty, Amy" Jack says continuing to look at him "She didn't make it" he says as Ty turns his head the opposite way away from him as Tim wraps his arm around Lou as she buries her head into Tim's shoulder "I'm so sorry Ty"
"Horsey" Ty hears Lyndy say as he turns around to see the little girl as she looks at Marion's gravestone where a horse is carved into it as he picks himself up wiping a couple tears away from his eyes as he walks over to her "Horsey daddy" Lyndy says again as he bends down by her
"This is your grandma Marion's grave" Ty says as they both look at the grave "Are you ready for breakfast?" he says as Lyndy nods her head
"Okay" Ty says as he picks her up "let's get back to the house" he says as they begin to walk back toward Harley who is grazing nearby
Jack walks into the barn office that night "So this is where you got to" he says as Ty is sitting at his desk in the office "You seemed to disappear after dinner"
"I just needed some time to think" Ty says as he leans back in his office chair "This seemed like a good place"
"I get that" Jack says as he looks at her "This day has been hard on all of us" he says continuing "But, I can only imagine how you're feeling right now"
"It being the anniversary of Amy's death has been bad enough" Ty says as he looks at Jack
"But that's not the only thing that is plaguing you" Jack says as he looks at him
"When we were out at the graveyard, this morning at Amy's grave" Ty says as he looks at him "Lyndy found Marion's grave" he says continuing as Jack sits up in the chair across from him where he had been leaning back "And I got to thinking about how hard it was for Amy when she lost her mom" Ty says continuing "I mean she tried to hide it, but I could tell that it always had an affect on her" he says as Jack continues to look at him "And I realized that Lyndy is going to have to go through the same thing, having to go through life without her mom" he says as he tries to find the words "And that breaks my heart that she's going to have to go through that, it really breaks my heart Jack"
"Ty" Jack says as he leans back in the chair as he looks at him "When we lost Marion, I know how it affected Amy" he says continuing to look at Ty "It was devasting on all of us" he says looking at Ty who now has his fingers cupped around his mouth "But do you want to know one of the things that I think helped Amy the most" he says at Ty looks back up at him "Is that she had you, and when the time comes that Lyndy does feel the emptiness of not having her mom in her life, and I'm not going to say it won't come because it will" he says continuing "But she'll have you too" he says as he gets up as he walks around to Ty as he puts his hand on his shoulder "And you'll get through it together"
"Thanks Jack" Ty says as he looks up at him
"I'll put Lyndy to bed for you tonight" Jack says as he pats Ty on the shoulder as he walks out of the office as Ty watches him leave
