Hey guys just before I start I wanted to apologize for not getting in a new chapter in a while for you guys! I decided to take a break a couple nights because I was just really tired and it was already midnight by most of them. Thank you for reading this and remember to review because it helps me a lot. 2 Chaps coming sat-Sunday ! Now enjoy.
Just a reminder quotations in BOLDED text are texts messages in the story!
Here we go!
Astrid was probably expecting a rather sort of absurd answer because he missed the first real practice on the only team he's ever been on...
But she wasn't expecting him to say that! She didn't know what to think. She knew she shouldn't worry about it but she just felt... disappointed. She really wanted to actually make good friends.
She picked up her phone and replied, "Oh wow, I didn't know that.."
"Yeah I'msorry about that It was kind of not my choice.. but then again it was my choice.."
Astrid didn't understand. "What is that supposed to mean?""Well he kind of asked then I was hesitant to say yes but he took it as a yes and just pushed me into it and I didn't get to say a word.."
Astrid didn't want to get angry because one she didn't have a reason not to and two he probably didn't even want to do it anyways. So she decided to just go with it. "Well did you want to do it?"
"I don't know... I've never done something like that before.. it's just a new thing I guess. Plus Snotlout is on the team so it kind of already sucks."
The little humor he gave made her laugh. She guessed he didn't have the greatest levels of confidence. Which was okay, but it was sometimes obvious to everyone.
"If I found out snot was on the swim team I'd quit right away" Astrid said to keep the joke.
"Haha yeah well it's not the same for me I guess..."
"Yeah..."
"Well was your swim practice?" Hiccup asked changing the subject.
"It was alright I suppose, they didn't do a lot of hard stuff but we did get in the water for a while. I was going to go shower but I decided to text you first cause I was curious where you were."
"Yeah sorry, I didn't know if you would be upset, it was just kind of awkward and I didn't think it was a big deal so..."
Astrid didn't want to be upset but she did kind of want to see him at the practice. She accepted it for what it is. "It's alright. I kinda was wanting to talk to you but it is what it is"
"Yeah.."
Astrid got up and told him she was going to shower and put her phone down. She still had chlorine on her body after swimming in the pool and she was hungry. She figured she could go to heather seeing she had like half the day left and didn't have any plans.
After she showered she got up and texted Heather and both moms agreed Astrid could go over to her house. Astrid walked downstairs to see her dad home. That's strange.. he's never home this early. She thought.
"Dad what are you doing home so early?" Astrid said walking towards the island.
"They didn't have any more work for me to do! We've been low on supply lately.." her dad said leaning down.
Astrid didn't say anything as she knew he'd start talking to her about school anyway. It would just take a matter of secondssss-
"So how was your first day of school?"
"It was fine dad, there's nothing to worry about it's the first week." Astrid said getting annoyed.
"Alright well I just want to see you be successful, what about your practice?"
She was literally about to tell him about hiccup not showing up. But she'd never hear the end of it. So she just said "it was fine, we didn't do anything to hard."
"That's right because nothings too hard for a hofferson. You keep doing good. You going somewhere?" Her dad asked as he walked upstairs.
"I'm going to heathers house bye!" Astrid said walking out the door.
Sighing she walked out to heathers moms car parked by the side and got in.
"Hey." Heather said first.
"He- heeeeeyyyyy you still smell like chlorine. It's so strong!"
"I didn't get a chance to go home and shower yet. We went and got food." Heather said laughing.
"Thanks for getting me some." Astrid said thinking she got nothing until heather reached from the backseat and pulled out food from the front seat.
"Oh thank god! I'm about to die of starvation right now." Astrid said with her mouth already full.
They finished eating in their car when they pulled up to heathers house. Heather also lived with both of her parents and she was the sister of Dagur. She often forgets that because the two are so non alike it makes it hard to even believe. The two went into heathers room and heather went to go take a shower leaving Astrid all alone. She wondered whether if she should text hiccup or just wait. She figured she would wait for heather.
She liked the thought of being able to text somebody as a friend that was wasn't heather. She was glad she was making friends. Sort of?
Heather got out of the shower quick and returned to her room in comfortable clothes. "So what were you doing before you texted me?" Heather started.
"Uhm... talking to somebody."
Heather was surprised. Astrid barely talked to anybody. Mostly because people were afraid or if she said no to everybody who asked for her number.
"Like texting or in person?
"We were just texting. He was explaining why he didn't make the swim team."Oh no...
"HE?!" Heather sat up with a smile on her face and looked at Astrid already regretting her choice of words.
"Astrid's interested in somebody ALREADY? Let alone got his NUMBER?"
"It's not like that, we're just friends and I asked him a question." Astrid defended getting annoyed at heathers interests.
"Who is he Astrid. Do I know him?" Heather said still smiling.
"I'm not telling you anymore. Besides, you really think I'm going to start getting interested with somebody on the first week of school?"
"Fine, but I'm not letting this go" heather submitted smiling.
"Whatever"
Hiccup wasn't really expecting Astrid to text him back so he called fishlegs and walked to his house. They first ate then they were on the couch in the living room playing a video game.
"Did you go your football practice?"
"Yeah, it was terrible, I threw up in the very beginning, humiliated myself, then had to keep going!"
"Your fault for not preparing."
"Okay mr I've never been on a team"
"Yeah well okay mr I'm already afraid of a girl on the 2nd day of school." Fishlegs said knowing he would deny.
Hiccup turned his head and narrowed his eyebrows in confusion. "Who?"
"Astrid." Fishlegs said happily.
"I am not afraid of Astrid, or anyone else in that fact."
"Okay then why didn't you want them to know about football practice?"
"Okay first of all, I told Astrid, second of all, because it was awkward, not like I was afraid." Hiccup defended himself.
"How did you tell Astrid if you didn't do it at school..."
"I sort of, got her number..." hiccup said already regretting he said that. Before fishlegs said anything he quickly added "it's not a big deal, she just asked me a question, not like she's gonna text me back anyway"
"Yeah yeah sure... this isn't ever going away." Fishlegs said returning to his game.
"Whatever"
