Chapter 8
Pushing Back The Orcs
Author: Hello readers, i just want to tell you all that i will be taking a break from writing this fanfiction, i will continue it. I just want to have it planned out and to continue writing it. I just need to think about the next chapters since i am almost out of ideas. While on my break from this fanfiction i will be talking to Ronnie R15 about this fanfiction and what will be next in Cael's Inheritance: Darkness Ascending. So suggestions and ideas are welcome for the next chapter and future ones as well.
Cael and Saphira immediately dodge the boulders that were being launched by the catapults, while the two dragons were doing aerobatics maneuvers to avoid them.
Before the orcs can reload Cael uses his dragon powers, causing him to glow red and purple. He launched a large fireball at one of the orcs catapults, as it landed on the catapult it exploded. Cause its ropes to snap and the weight of the orc's catapults, to fall and break as the tension of blast was so much. It suddenly fell apart and the boulder that was in place, launching itself into one of these air battalion balloons as it exploded on impact.
Cael smiled as he looked at Saphira, seeing her launch her own fireball at their weapons. While Eragon was hanging on for dear life as Saphira dodged multiple boulders.
"Cael how many catapults are there left?" Eragon asked as he saw the orcs flee. While Saphira launches another fireball at one of the catapults.
"There are sev-… nevermind six more." Cael sighs as he was cut off as a catapult exploded, causing him to correct himself.
"We need to stop the one in charge, General Mandek was it." Saphira replied as Cael nodded. Before they can destroy the rest of the catapults, a deep chuckle rang out.
"Well, well dragon, i never thought that you of all dragons are here in Alagaesia." A voice from below, causing both dragons to look down. Cael recognizes the voice as the leader of the orc army.
"General Mandek! How are you still alive?" Cael roared out as his most hated enemy. While the general stepped out the crowd of orcs.
"I survived our last counter because of Galbatorix. As i was dying he brought me to this world and revived me. Said that i can join him, but he screwed me over after he saw my failure to destroy one dragon. You Cael have been torn on my side for too long." Mandek replied as he grabbed his mace from his left hip. While he was ready to kill his nemesis. Cael was not fazed by Mandek neither was Saphira nor Eragon.
"So you are Mandek, the one who reduced the dragon race of Ardon to almost to nothing. You will die for what you have done." Saphira roared out in fury as Eragon unsheathed his sword, while Saphira landed in front of the orcs with Cael following her example.
"Yes i am and when me and my army are through with you. You and your rider will stain the ground in red." Mandek replied as he swung his mace, not notice the orcs were running scared of Cael the dragon who massacred them in Ardon.
"Oh really, you and what army Mandek?" Eragon refers to the orc's hasty retreat. Mandek was confused at what Eragon meant by that.
"Huh What do you mean? My army is not afraid of you." Mendek denies the fact that no orc is standing behind him except for one with a quivering grip on it's weapon, while the orc's eyes were wide open and he looked at Cael trembling with fear. Cael chuckled as he replied, before Mandek could ask why.
"I would turn around, if i were you." Cael smiles as he sees the last of the orcs sprinting after his companions.
As Mandek turned around, his eyes widened when he saw orc's weapons and bows scattered everywhere in front of him abandoned by his own army. Looking ahead, he saw the orcs running for the hills. Mandek was not a happy orc as he saw this.
"Hey! Come back here you cowards. Come back!" Mandek shouted at his army, but they were too afraid for Cael. Before they got ambushed by the Ellesmera army and then they were slaughtered in front of Mandek.
Mandek dropped his mace as he saw his entire army massacred by Ayra and the elves of Ellesmera.
"How… did yo-." Mandek was so shocked that he could not finish his questions. Before he could complete his question, in a blink of an eye Eragon jumped off of Saphira and ran up to the general until he was within striking distance, then he put his sword Zar'roc against Mandek's neck. Until the blade stopped against his neck. As Mandek saw the Ellesmera army surrounded him with their weapon pointed at him.
"You are under arrest, Mandek." Ayra replied as Mandek was about to protest, he was cut off.
"Theyna" Eragon replied to silence Mandek before he could argue, while Mandek opened his mouth to speak. But nothing came out as the general was frustrating. Cael smiled seeing his enemy speechless for once.
"Thank you Eragon." Ayra replied as Eragon nodded in acknowledgement, while she continued to speak to Mandek.
"Now as to what i was saying before, my mother's order is to put you in a cell until she can decide what to do with you. For what you done to the dragons of Ardon and your attempted to murder Eragon, Saphira and Cael. Take him to a cell and keep the guards rotation, so that they do not get tried." Ayra orders as two guards walk behind the orc then they push Mandek forwards into the direct of the guard's barrack, while four more guards accomplish the two push the orc.
Cael and Saphira with Eragon, Adara and the rest of the Ellesmera, hoped that the Blood-Oath Celebration would continue tomorrow.
