Earth.
(POV Alex)
Seriously, I hate kids.
After I stopped the tow Tennyson kids from making a mess the moment they arrived, I was forced to apologize to both Steve and Bruce about them.
Although for some reason the both of them refused to tell me exactly what the kids said to them, when I tried to extract the truth from the kids, the two of them had a positively murderous stare in their eyes directed towards the kids who wisened up and did not say anything.
Really, really curious as to what happened.
Anyways, after that incident happened, we were all given our separate rooms aboard the Helicarrier for a stay while Max and Fury talked about their current predicament.
This is what led me to my current situation.
"So, why was Vilgax so afraid of you?" Gwen asked with folded arms as Ben sat nearby, tinkering with the Omnitrix but giving me occasional glances to show that he was listening.
I looked at Gwen and gave an answer that I knew would infuriate her but was worth it to tease her.
"Because I am strong"
I watched as she gritted her teeth and tried to appear intimidating but only came off as a cute little child acting her age.
This is what I missed all those countless years I was trapped in the dimensional gap.
The human interaction, the jokes between friends and equals, the amusement at the antiques of children like her and Ben.
This makes me think about everything I lost when I became Blacklight.
Then, Ben decided to speak and brought me out of my musing.
"I bet you are not as strong as me!" he said as he showed his Omnitrix while standing in a pose.
Poor kid did not know that I had access to a few hundred alien powers that he will not unlock for a long, long time, I also did not have any kind of a limit on how long and how much power I can use.
He is outgunned in multiple ways if he had to face me in combat.
But I did not tell him this and simply shrugged, once more infuriating him.
It was then, that things started to go out of control.
I heard a shouting match from somewhere above our room thanks to my powerful hearing while also sensing some form of energy floating about in the room.
Before I could warn the kids to get ready, the rooms above exploded and dropped tons of steel and rubble on us.
(POV Max)
I was lucky that I was not near the room where Fury was arguing with the others when it exploded and survived it with nothing but minor scratches.
Couldn't say the same about the others though.
I saw and Captain America run out of the room and towards the end of the hallway, most likely towards the source of the explosion.
I saw as Fury slowly got up along with Thor as they moved towards the Deck.
From the bottom of the ship, I could hear some kind of an animalistic roar that caused my heart to chill with fear followed by the grunts and screams of a female voice.
But right now, my first priority was to check on my grandkids and see if they were okay.
I ran towards the rooms where they were supposed to stay with Alex while I and Fury negotiated about our stay in this universe.
I still do not trust the Blacklight but from what I could get from interacting with him, he was very different from the myths about him, and in my experience as a Plumber, I knew never to trust rumors at face value so I was willing to give him the benefit of doubt.
But when I arrived at the room, I felt my stomach drop as I took in the sight in front of me.
Gwen was on the ground, unconscious, and covered in bruises while a similarly unconscious Ben covered her body with his, most probably to shield her while his outstretched arm which reached towards the Omnitrix showed that he did not have the time to change into one of his aliens before they were injured.
Although they were covered in cuts and bruises from the rubble, I could tell that they were fine, but what truly terrified me was standing right above the unconscious children.
His eyes which were usually full of mischief and power, had a blank stare in them as he looked upon the downed form of my grandchildren.
Massive tendrils stretched from his outstretched arms which held up tons of rubble that would likely make even Four arms wince in pain.
His entire body fluctuating with glowing purple light that was eerily similar to an Anodite when they were extremely angry or were depressed.
But before I could say anything, I saw Alex casually throw the Rubble off of him before he outstretched his arm and assimilating a nearby computer terminal along with the emergency medical supplies that were thrown about in the room.
Instantly, the terminal morphed into some form of a capsule while Alex gently picked up the kids with his tendrils and placed them in it.
I watched with bated breath as the machine turned on and started to visibly heal my grandchildren.
I turned back towards Alex to thank him.
Only to find nothing where he once stood.
(POV Alex)
I navigated through the powerlines of the Helicarrier towards the source of the explosion as my mind continued to playback the events that just happened.
I just saw two little kids almost die due to my negligence.
I knew that Ben was destined for greatness and was powerful, Gwen would also similarly grow up to be an extremely powerful woman.
But that does not change the fact that it was in the future and that they did not have that kind of battle readiness yet.
Most of all, I forgot that they were not some cartoon characters but real people.
Two kids who should be worrying about their grades and their futures, not fighting aliens and being aboard a spy Helicarrier.
I sensed a massive power fluctuation leave the vicinity of the Helicarrier but I could not care less about it for now.
I soon arrived at the source of the detonation to find a scene that I would have found funny at any other time.
Captain America was swinging in the wind, hanging from a cable as he tried not to fall off while Ironman was close to being shredded in the rotors.
I immediately spotted the attackers and directly assimilated them without giving myself away, I then assimilated the lever near Steve and activated its maglev control which allowed for Tony to escape his doom.
Then, I got to work as I started to spread out and assimilate the entire Helicarrier.
(POV Steve)
I watched in utter fascination as the entire Helicarrier was covered in some form of black organic material with red circuits like patters on it.
Seriously, the world was getting weirder by the day.
I watched as the damage over the rotor was repaired and suddenly, strange guns popped out of the hallways of the ship.
I heard over the radio as Alex spoke.
'Attention all aggressors, stand down now or I will open fire'
To show his point, the guns swiveled around to point themselves at ever single assailant in the hallways as an eerie red glow appeared at the end of their barrels.
It might seem like things are okay, but I knew for a fact that the battle was far from over.
