Awhile Later

"Blessed are the hearts that can bend; they shall never be broken." But I wonder if there's no breaking then there's no healing, and if there's no healing then there's no learning. Lucas had swung by the elementary school to pick up Sam and Scarlett. The twins had finished their afterschool activities sometime ago. Lucas had to attempt to clear his mind and compose himself. The image of his wife unraveling in front of his eyes. And him feeling powerless with how to help her. Brought back those feelings he had as a 16 year old. Lucas sighed deeply. "Working late." He replied. Lying through his teeth.

"Come to the cafe. Get something to eat and you can sleep upstairs." Karen announced.

Brooke looked up at her. "I don't need you're help! Just leave me alone!" Brooke shot back.
