Going to try to make weekly updates on this story for a while so if you aren't following this story now would be the perfect time to do it.
Jeff didn't even sleep in his own room that night, giving it to Huey, Dewey, and Louie before grabbing a sleeping bag and curling up in his office. He woke up the following morning to the sound of some one playing video games in his room.
"No? They can't be." Jumping up out of his sleeping bag he ran to his room in his Superman pajamas and saw Dewey playing his Overwatch video game on his PlayStation 4. Dewey had the character D. Va shoot out her mech at the incoming enemy on the map Hollywood, blowing up four of the enemy teams character before having D. Va return to her mech. Jeff's room featured several posters hanging from all four walls. Including a Taylor Swift poster, A Spiderman poster, A DC comics poster, a Overwatch Poster. A poster of a Leopard and a poster of former Dallas Cowboys Quarterback Tony Romo. He also had three Sports Banners hanging up in his room. One for the Dallas Cowboys, one of the New Orleans Saints and one for the Dallas Mavericks. His bookshelf in his room was filled with several different types of wildlife books, graphic novels, comics as well as DVDs. His dressure had several action figures from both Marvel like Captain America and Iron Man, and DC comics like Wonder Woman, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, Shazam and Flash.
"Oh yeah, Quadruple kill!" Dewey bragged at the successful move as Huey and Louie cheered him on. Huey turned and spotted Jeff, who just stood frozen with a shocked look on his face.
"You got some fun video games in your world." Huey wrote down on his note pad and showed Jeff.
"But how can you play with your wings?" Jeff asked in shock. "Your wings shouldn't be strong enough to support those controls."
"Breakfast is ready!" The four of them heard Jo shouting from the kitchen.
"Tell them I will be there as soon as I finish this match, no way and I leaving the team hanging." Dewey told Huey. Huey wrote it down on his notepad and showed it to Jeff. Sighing Jeff threw up his hands and walked to the kitchen, where he froze in horror as he saw Jo fixing everyone a plate of scrambled eggs.
"Your serving eggs to a group of birds!? Are you crazy?
"What? They are not duck eggs!"
"But they are still eggs! This is sadistic."
As Webby, Lena, and Violet all ran into the kitchen Jeff expected them to scream in horror at the sight of the eggs and run off. Instead they all three squealed with glee, grabbed themselves a plate and scarfed the eggs down within a couple of minutes.
All Jeff could do was just stand there frozen in shock at what he just witnessed. "This is without a doubt the most disturbing thing I have ever seen. Nothing else comes even close."
As Webby wiped the access egg off her face she took out her notepad and wrote a message of it. "Hey Jo, is it okay is me and Lena plays with your Nintendo Switch?"
"Sure just don't destroy the controllers if you lose. Jeff has a habit of throwing tempers when a game doesn't go well and smashing my controls."
"I'm a very competitive guy!" Jeff said in his defense.
Webby and Lena both laughed as they got up and ran to Jo's room leaving Violet at the table alone.
"Aren't you going to join your friends?" Jeff asked
"I'm not that much into video games." Violet wrote down. "I find more joy in books."
"I hear ya, I use to be able to spend my whole afternoon playing video games on my days off. I would get so competitive that if I was having a bad game I would destroy the controllers and go lay in bed for a few minutes to pout. Use to drive Jo crazy."
"So why did you stop?" Violet wrote down.
Jeff just sighed "Recently I have been spending every available moment I have to finding a cure to those humanoid animals Nimnus created. I guess I have gotten so lost into trying to find a cure that, I have sacrificed a lot of the fun that I used to have."
Smiling Violet got up from her seat and offered Jeff her hand. Curious to what Violet was wanting Jeff excepted it and Violet led Jeff to Jo's room where Webby and Lena was loading Mario Kart. Jo's room was decorated with paper snowflakes that hanged from the ceiling and pinned to the walls. On top of that there was also silver sparkly streamers across the ceiling with more glitter snowflakes. She had fake flowers on her desk on top of several arts and craft tools. There was also a Trolls poster hanging over the head of a white bed. Like Jeff she also had a collection of comics on her bookshelf.
"Oh no, I really shouldn't I need to focus on my work." Jeff hesitated as Violet handed him a controller. Violet just smiled as she pointed to the game.
Jeff just let out a defeated sigh. "I guess a small break from my work wouldn't hurt. But fair warning, I am competitive and don't hold back." Taking the controls Jeff turned to Webby and Lena and gave a mischievous smirk their way "So don't expect me to take it easy on you two just because you are rookies."
As the game loaded Webby selected Peach, Lena took Yoshi and Jeff took Donkey Kong. The track selected was Rainbow Bridge. As the cars lined up and waited for the green Jeff turned to the two female birds. "Try to keep up."
When the light went green the racers took off, and Jeff took a quick lead over his competitors. "Out of my way, see you at the finish line!"
As Jo entered her room, a small smile formed across her face as she witnessed Jeff playing Mario Kart with the two female ducks. Not just because he was bonding with these birds he had been wanting to change back into normal ducks, but because for the first time since they moved to California from Oklahoma was he actually having fun.
"Thank you," Jo said to Violet who just gave her a thumbs up in return.
"YES!" Jeff squealed as he crossed the finish line first "Better luck next time."
"Alright Jeff, you've had your little fun," Jo chuckled as she joined the crowd. "But now it's time to go up against me in my playground. Super Smash Brothers."
"Oh come on Jo, that's just not fair."
"If your going to talk smack you better be able to back it up, plus my Nintendo, my choice. Unless your scared."
"Oh you just got called out!" Lena said to Jeff even though she knew he couldn't hear her.
"I'm not scared," Jeff shot back.
"Then what are you waiting for then?"
"Okay then, your on!"
Pulling up a chair next to the two birds and Jeff they each chose their character. Jo took Meta Knight, Webby took Jiggly Puff, Lena took Link, and Jeff chose Yoshi.
As the match began Jo instantly started swinging Meta knights blades at Link, causing Lena to make Link leap in the air to avoid attack. Which proved costly as Jeff had Yoshi swallow Link and have him exit off the edge of the map inside a egg.
"What?" Lena gasped "Oh it's on now!"
Once Link returned to the map, short a life she instantly focused her main attack on Link while Jo had Meta Knight attack Jiggly Puff with everything she had. Webby spammed Jo hard with Jiggly Puff's lullaby, causing Meta Knight to fall asleep for a couple of seconds but each time Jo quickly recovered, and swung Meta Knights blade attack again, knocking Webby off the map not once but twice.
Suddenly a smash ball appeared on the map and Jo made a dash for it.
"Oh crap!" Jeff gulped as he had Yoshi chase after the Smash Ball. "We can't let Jo get that smash ball, if she does!"
Too late, Jo grabbed it, then suddenly Meta attack went into final smash mode.
"Oh shoot," Jeff gulped.
"Know my power!" Meta Knight roared as Meta Knight went all across the screen slashing Jiggly Puff at a the speed of light, Webby was powerless as she got thrown off the map ending her match.
"Ah man." Webby whined.
Jo next focused on Link, Using a few quick attacks she was able to knock Link off the map again, however with her being distracted by Link, she was blindsided by Yoshi swallowing her and getting knocked off the edge in a egg.
"Hey!" Jo screamed as Jeff laughed.
"Should have watched your six," Jeff responded.
"That's it, no more Miss nice Jo."
After another quick knockout of Link it was down to Meta knight and Yoshi. Both got a couple good knock outs on each other and soon they were both down to one last life.
"Looks like it all comes down to this huh Jo?"
"Looks like it."
As the two of them brawled another smash ball suddenly appeared. Both Meta Knight and Yoshi fought hard but Meta Knight grabbed it and Jeff could only watch as Meta Knight completely destroyed Yoshi, causing Jo to win the match.
"K.O! All hail the Queen." Jo laughed as she sat down her controls. "Face it Jeff you can never beat me with Meta Knight."
"Aw your just lucky I am a bit rusty." Jeff responded.
"Uh huh, sure."
As Jo put up the Nintendo Switch, Jeff walked up to Violet who was giving him the thumbs up. "Thank's Violet, I actually needed that."
"No Problem." Violet wrote down.
"There is one thing that is still bothering me though. You six have never told me why you are here anyway. Are you all runaways from Nimnus or something?"
Violet spent several seconds writing down her answer before turning it for Jeff to read.
"Us six weren't alive when Scrooge and his rebellions fled Nimnus, we live on a island hidden away from the human world. A few days ago a plane crash landed on our island and it happened to be a soldier for Nimnus's army. We came here to explore the human world and see if we could defeat Nimnus and repair what the human's think of us."
"There is an entire island filled with your kind?"
Violet nodded before writing more down.
"We were born like this, none of us know anything about being a normal bird, neither does the rest of the island for that matter. I know you want to try to cure us, but if you change us back, we will basically die."
Sighing Jeff summoned Violet to follow her.
"I want to show you something Violet, something important."
Curious Violet followed Jeff to his office. Jeff stopped at his work table where he dug through a box underneath the table and pulled out a map of the United States.
"You and your friends aren't the only ones who have left their home to try to stop the attack Nimnus has brought onto the world." Jeff pointed to California, most notably the city of Los Angeles. "This is where we currently are," Then Jeff moved his finger to the state of Oklahoma. "But this is where I am originally from. Oklahoma is a very beautiful state, filled with majestic mountains and wildlife preserves. It is one of the few places in America where you can see wild Bison in their natural habitat and wild Prairie dogs who let humans get up close to them."
Why did you leave? Violet wrote on her pad.
"When I heard about what Nimnus was doing to animals, turning them into weapons for war, I couldn't just stand by. I have dedicated my entire life to trying to help rescue wildlife. Back in Oklahoma, I used to work for a wildlife rehab center. We would often get cases of animals being brought in that had been abused by humans. When I heard what Ninmus was doing, I wanted to try and see if I could save the animals before the government killed them all."
But you can't do that without our blood samples? Violet wrote down.
"I was hoping that if I could find out exactly how you was turned into what you are now through your blood, than maybe it could give answers to how I could reverse the procedures and maybe I could not only stop Nimnus and his army but also save the animals that he is cruelly using in his invasion."
Violet thought long and hard over what Jeff just told her before finally writing something down.
"What you are trying to do is noble, but also very risky. You don't know if what you are planning could actually save the animals or harm them in even worst ways, but I want to stop Nimnus to. If I give you a sample of my blood, you must promise me that you will not test the cure on me or any of my friends."
"But mankind is so corrupt, what if a lot of these intelligently enhanced animals in your world starts going rogue?"
"You have to learn to take the good with the bad. Duckburg is filled with a lot of good animals, and I'm sure the human world is filled with more good than bad people as well. Sometimes you just got to have faith."
"Faith," Jeff thought out loud. "I'll admit, that is something I have lost when it has come to humanity."
Violet put a hand on Jeff's shoulder and gave him a comforting smile before writing something on her pad.
"Let us help you restore what you have lost."
Reading that last part Jeff gave a reassured smile. "Okay then, I promise that I should I find a cure, I will only use it on Nimnus's army."
"Then I will gladly be of assistance." Violet wrote. "And I will talk with the rest of my friends about also assisting."
A few minutes later Jeff had taken a blood sample from Violet and put it in a small vile. He gave Violet a small bandage around her arm where he drew some blood before sending her off to study his results.
Putting a small drop in a small slide, he put the slide under the microscope and started looking for something, anything, that could show him how these birds were made human like.
"Soon, Nimnus," Jeff growled "Real soon, I am going to learn the secret of your creations, and I am going to bring you, and your entire operation down. One way or the other."
So my room in real life looks exactly how I described it in this story. Yeah it's kinda nerdy but I am kinda nerdy in real life as well. And thanks again to Jo for the information. I hope I got your room looking exactly how you described it to me.
Oh and for the record Jo, I could totally own you in Super Smash in real life, I just let you win in the story so I didn't hog all the glory.
