-A Few Days Later: Cyclones Meeting Room-
"Is it true, Clint?" Marty asked as soon as Clint entered into the Cyclones' meeting room. Clint had a nervous look upon his face, and it was obvious what Marty was talking about.
"You want the bad or the good?" Clint asked in a nervous tone.
"Give me the good." Marty requested in a serious, yet nervous tone.
"Grant's injury is not as serious as our trainers and medical staff first believed it was." Clint said in a serious tone.
"That's a relief, I thought his injury could be career end–"
"However." Clint interrupted. "It is a season ending injury. Doctors just confirmed with me he indeed fractured his wrist." Clint said in a sad tone.
"Damn!" Marty cursed angrily. "If the media finds out about this–"
"Turn on the television." Clint interrupted as he grabbed the meeting rooms remote and turned on the television to the Blitz League Network.
"A source inside the San Diego Cyclones has indeed confirmed that their veteran quarterback, Grant Tanner, has indeed suffered a season ending wrist injury–"
"Turn that shit off!" Marty growled as Clint turned off the tv. "Two games into the damn season and we've already lost a key player to injury. I'm afraid to ask if it could get any worse." Marty hissed as he slammed a fist down on the wooden conference table.
"I hate to ask this question..." Clint began nervously, until Marty gave him a gesture indicating it was ok to proceed. "Should we look into signing, or trading for a new quarterback, at least until Grant his healed?" Clint asked his boss.
"No." Marty answered firmly, which surprised Clint.
"You sure? We got the Hounds coming to town next week, and they're the favorites to win the Division 3 Championship. We could use a solid–"
"Put simply, I believe in the team we've built." Marty said in a convicted tone. "I will admit, Jamal had a point when he said drafting a backup quarterback might be a good move. We've got two first round picks in the coming draft. I'm not trading any player or pick for a quarterback who's been in the league and has veteran status. Only you and Jamal are permitted to hear this, for now... we're drafting a quarterback in the first round, but Grant will still be the starter once he's healed..."
-Later: Blitz League Broadcast Booth-
"Good afternoon and welcome to the Blitz League Network. I'm Chris Benson and this is the latest Blitz League news." Chris said as he paused to take a breath as the footage showed headlines along the bottom of the screen.
"Well the rumors are true. Cyclones quarterback Grant Tanner has been placed on Injured Reserve after suffering a fractured wrist. Cyclones General Manager Clint Roberts was quick to address the issue in a press conference earlier this afternoon. He assured us that the team would be ready to play come Sunday against the Milwaukee Hounds." Chris said as he paused to take a breath before deciding to switch topics.
"The collegian season is now in full swing. Texas, Miami and Notre Dame round out the top three teams in the nation at the moment, and all three teams are relying on their respective superstars to carry them over the finish line. We all know what John Norris has been doing for Texas. We know how Kelly James has embarrassed every teams he's thrown the ball against for Miami. But there has been little talk about Notre Dame quarterback Chance Wolfe, personally I thing this kid is one we should be talking about. Miami might be higher ranked two spots higher than Notre Dame, and while it's true the teams are not scheduled to play each-other this season, Notre Dame is the favorite to bring home the trophy this season..."
