It was time for the students to chose a hero under which to act as an apprentice.
"In your face popcorn, I got thousands of requests to work with heroes!"
"Todoroki got more than you" Al says without rising his face off his desk.
"Many of us didn't got any requests so we'll just have to chose from agencies that offered themselves to support us." Midoriya says.
"It's not about being chosen or not, is about being famous! I wanted to have a lot of requests to brag about them."
"If it makes you happy all the class A-1 got a special request." Aizawa says entering the room with numerous letters in his hand. "The masked heroes we've worked with previously entered in contact with us. If any of the students that participated in the program wish they can call onto a hero from South America to come and work with them. It seems... Uraraka Ochaco has a personal request from El Santo and Al has a request from Apex.
"A request for me! From El Santo?" Ochaco says rushing to read the letter. It says:
'Dear Uravity as you like to be called now. The art of lucha libre is the perfection of flying moves. The bodies of two opponents leaving the ground, challenging each other in intense fights before returning to earth! I believe your Quirk is the embodiment of this fighting art. If you'd have me, I'd be honoured to come to Japan and teach you how to be a lucha hero!' signed: El Santo, and the signature was all covered in glitter. She nearly starts crying as a masked hero noticed her and wanted to teach her how to fight and become a hero.
"If you want to work with any of the masked heroes you'll have to make your choice fast since they'll have to travel here. This is a double experiment as heroes from South America will come here to experience the Japanese way of dealing with villains to better broaden their tactics and horizons in keeping the peace."
"Hey, I want a masked hero too!" Mina says as she butts in.
"If they are offering why not accept. Learning foreign fighting styles and tricks might better help us take villains by surprise." Tsuyu says as she picks up a list too.
"Hmm... Latin music isn't half bad so I might give it a try too!" Jiro says.
In the end only five of the twenty students chose a masked hero as their teacher. Although Tsuyu first chose a different masked hero, once Apex realised she has an animal like mutation Quirk he pretty much forced her to accept his invitation to work under him alongside Al. Mina and Jiro joined a masked heroine called Sky High and Ochaco joined El Santo in his pursuit of the perfect lucha attack.
Just a few days later the three masked heroes arrive to Japan in a surprisingly basic landing. El Santo wasn't wearing his shiny hero costume, Apex was an old man, given a very muscular old man but an old man nonetheless. Sky High was the weirdest of the bunch. She walked around on very high heeled shoes but the heel was placed in the centre of the sole and she had to keep her equilibrium wherever she walked. On top of that she jumped from one leg to the other without ever touching the ground with both legs. That's because her Quirk, skywards strength. The least she touched the ground the more her strength increases. If she stands on one leg on top of a very tall pair of platform shoes she's twice as strong as a regular human. If she uses her polearm and holds onto it with both hands instead of touching the ground she's ten times stronger than a human and whenever she jumps her power increases to one hundred times that of a human being.
After landing each hero hurried up and headed out in search of their apprentice ambushing them as part of the first test.
"We were told to wait for Apex here but he's nowhere to be seen." Tsuyu says as the two wait inside a desolated park on the edge of the city.
"Is there any animal that burrows underground considered an Apex predator?"
"A mole?"
"He's going to ambush us but I don't know from where. A lightning fast attack using the form of a cheetah? An attack from the sky as a hawk?"
"Something is vibrating under us. I can feel it through my legs."
"There is one!" Apex shouts erupting out of the ground under the form of an ant. Tsuyu jumps out of the way and Al enters his rows of corn to escape. Unfortunately for both of them Apex is in two location at the same time with the incredible speed of a cheetah and just as Al leaves his corn bush Apex appears behind him slamming him into the ground before heading out to attack Tsuyu. She jumps away from him but he grabs her by the leg and holds her upside down.
"Are you a dart frog? Can you kill someone with your venom?"
"No, just a frog."
"Why are you answering your enemy?" Apex shouts before using her as a blunt weapon to hit Al out of the air as he tried to sneak on him.
"Welcome to my training recruits and for the next few days I'll teach you how to crawl on your stomach out of hell.
"Aren't you supposed to teach us how to become heroes?"
"I'm gonna teach you how to become the best heroes there are, by turning you into steel. I'll teach you survival, how to pilot most vehicles in common use and how to crack codes. I'll teach you how to disarm opponent and how to infiltrate enemy bases. By the end of our training I'll fire artillery shells at you and you'll have to dodge the projectiles. I'll make sure to use Flak weapons to attack you with. Do you even know what kind of shells those are?"
"The kind that explode ribbit?"
"The kind that they use to destroy air planes meaning they shatter into hundred of pieces and you'll work until you'll be able to dodge a barrage of those." Apex grabs both of them by a foot each and starts spinning them around like nunchakus in his crocodile form.
"I'll whip you into shape. You'll see."
On the other side of the spectrum there's Mina and Jiro, the two have a really easy and nice time with Sky High patrolling around the city in search of adventure.
"With so many people having Quirks you have to always be aware of your surrounding. You never know when the next villain will strike since anyone can be one in hiding. Thus you'll have to start by reading my book on how to spot suspicious subjects. Here are some copies." She says while throwing them six copies of her book while jumping on her polearm which doubles as a pogo stick.
"You also have to always keep your mind sharp. Earphone jack, what would your first response be if a villain attacked you right now on the spot?"
"Use my earphones to strike back!"
"More precise, what part of them. How strong are your earlobes, can you really hurt someone with them? Are they sharp, can they be damaged? What if the opponent has a sharp object and could cut you?"
"Then I guess I could use my speakers to incapacitate them."
"Where are your speakers? What if you don't have access to them? Always have a contingency plan. Look at my shoes, if I don't have my weapon I can always use them and I can always jump onto something above the ground to gain more power. Look around you, what would be your first weapons in case of a brawl? What about you Mina, you have a more offence oriented Quirk. What would you do?"
"Hit him in the face with my acid then make him fall to the ground while he cannot see."
"He has a blade to your neck, what do you do?"
"Ah, create acid underneath my feet and make him trip?"
"Work on 'Acid Armour'! I want you to be able to secrete acid from any part of your body at will, strong enough to stop a blade!
"Got it"
"Now, how would you deal with someone being in danger? A hostage?"
"If I'm not discovered I'll try to sneak behind the villain and use my earphones to trip him over!"
"I'll pretty much do the same if possible. I'd use my acid to trip him or damage his weapon or make him drop it."
"Perfect, now I want you to think about being inside a huge empty room with the villain and a hostage..." Sky High continued with her lessons while they all walked around the city looking for troubles.
The last of the three heroes, El Santo was also very busy teaching Uraraka all his lucha libre moves.
"You see, in lucha libre every wrestler has to fight his opponent for who is the first to leave the ground, who is the first to stay in the air and who is the first to fall. Thanks to your power you can control all of that. Now, I want you to make me float into the air." Uraraka does as he asked and makes him float.
"Good, very good but as you can see I'm barely off the ground. You have to make it instinctive, when you attack a villain push him upwards with your attacks to make him increase his distance from the earth. You can always stop them from floating upwards if they go too far so start training on that." Uraraka tries again and he now pushed El Santo into the air.
"Good, now think fast, I'm in the air and floating upwards. If you get me too high I might hit the ceiling and regain control, if we are outside I might fly too high and break my bones while falling turning you into a dangerous hero. What do you do?" Uraraka panics as El Santo makes her think very fast on her feet.
"You wrestle them into submission. Stop your Quirk. Now, I'll teach you the secrets of lucha libre and how to use the most powerful moves. First we start with a Plancha!" Uraraka jumps into the air using her Quirk then starts falling towards El Santo but the impact between the two barely moves him.
"You're small so learn to use your Quirk to your advantage. If you want to close the distance quickly with a villain jump forward then remove gravity from your body. If you want however to strike them as you fly, use something heavy as a projectile and turn it back to normal just as you are about to hit them. Let's try with those heavy training mats." El Santo points towards heavy sponge mats used when people train for gymnastics. Uraraka keeps throwing herself and the mats at him as she charges forward.
"We'll try this until you master the move! But I won't just bore you with the same move a thousand times. A luchador must have a wide variety of moves at their disposal. You have the best move a wrestler can dream off, an infinite air time attack. What you'll do is you'll throw both of us into the air then you'll spin me around until I'm sitting upside down and you don't. Now, consider this, you can always use your Quirk, the opponent you'll face never saw it before. If you manage to master mid-air repositioning you can force the opponent into a submission move before throwing them into the floor. Thus, we'll practice air combat.
"Yes... air combat" She says as she holds her stomach. "I'm getting kind of dizzy over here"
"We'll also have to work on your tolerance to use your Quirk. Now, rise yourself into the air and keep your mouth as closed as you can." Uraraka does as she's told. El Santo puts his arms on her shoulders and looks at her with a sincere stare.
"This is for your own good" He says before starting to spin her mid air as fast as he can. "I want you to know that I have no control over you. If you let go of your Quirk you'll head neck first into the ground breaking your spine. You'll have to hold on until we reach the training mats where it's safe for you to land. Understand?" Uraraka heard him, her brain connected the words he said together but all she managed to understand was
"Blrugh blrugh blurgh!" It's going to be a long day for all the students and an even longer apprenticeship.
