With a burst over energy, Ivy pounced at Sam. Bring her Rapier straight towards his chest. Sam however didn't back away from such an attack.
Pushing forward with his sword he clashed with hers to produce shockwaves as both sides exerted strength to overpower each other. Ivy being a peak level 9 elder was stronger than Sam in terms of strength. This being the case Sam was being pushed back slowly however he didn't seem to panic.
At this moment Kai who had made his presence weak approached from behind Sam and quickly moved towards Ivy. Using his immense strength he punched the side of her body causing her to groan in pain.
It was true that Kai was extremely strong for his level but this was a level 9 elder. It was already a massive achievement that he could hurt to a level 9 elder.
While she didn't suffer much it did break her concentration allowing Sam to go in for a counterattack. Taking back all his strength that allowed him to keep her sword in check. He let her Rapier come down on him.
As the force that was holding her sword back went away it made Ivy fall forward. Causing her to lose her stepping. Before the sword could fall on Sam he quickly flipped his whole body in a 360 motion causing Ivy's sword to miss.
While Sam landed his elbow right into her chest midway through spinning. The force he had generated through the spin was devastating as it landed on her body which caved in. The heavy attack sent her flying back.
Ivy stabbed her sword on the ground to slow her speed and she tried to get air back in the lungs after such an attack. Sam wasn't about to give her this opportunity, appearing above her, bringing his left leg down on her head.
A kick like this would seriously cave her head in even if she was a level 9 peak elder. Vampires weren't known for their durable body anyway so this hit would do quite a number on her. Just before the kick could connect she raised her left arm to defend her head.
*Crunch* the bones in her arm broke but she successfully defended against his kick. "I've got you now" Ivy smiled menacingly as her right arm with the sword in her hand moved straight towards Sams's chest.
Sam had no way to avoid this but instead, he smiled "Who said I was the main attacker?" Causing the vampire's eyes to enlarge.
From the corner of her eye, she could see a young child holding that person's sword. With a single swing Kai chopped off the woman's right arm completely.
"Aargh!!!" She shrieked in pain. Humiliating this was way too humiliating for her. To be bested by two humans that weren't even on her level. How disgusting!
"Y-You how dare you, Human! I will kill you and this village then I will cut that child's head off and make a trophy out of it" at this point she had completely lost her rationality.
Her aura began to increase again at a massive rate. "You are the one who made me do this. Forbidden art: Blood boost"
Sam furrowed his brows at the sight of this. Ivy who had been a peak level 9 elder suddenly got so much energy and it was slowly on the very of breaking through to level 10. Very soon a massive burst of energy was felt by both Kai and Sam.
'Shes reached level 10 however this isn't true level 10. Her energy is weaker than that of a level 10. She must've used some sort of forbidden technique" Sam thought to himself.
"Kid get back. Let me handle this now." Sam took his sword from Kai but Kai still stood there. "But dad I can help. I'm strong enough to fight" he insisted.
"Boy, I know you're very strong however you've done enough. I'm proud of you, son and how you've grown up." He smiled causing Kai to relax a bit. Somehow he knew leaving everything to this man now would be the best thing. Stepping back he let his dad take the main stage.
"Watch closely Kai, I'm going to show you a technique I've been working on. As humans, our greatest advantage comes from constantly growing. Today I will show you a technique I came up with." Same took an Ox stance and gathered all of his aura into his sword.
Ivy who had just gotten to the peak of her energy finally absorbed all her energy back and leapt towards Sam. The man, however, didn't move from his spot and simply stood there with his ox stance.
Ivy appeared right in front of him and with a loud scream, she swung Rapier in a vertical slash. Sam who was ready for this let the Rapier connect to his sword but just at that moment, he titled his hilt to the side letting the rapier slide down on the flat side.
Her sword slid all the way down as if falling Sams sword and hit the ground creating a massive crater. This was the chance Sam was waiting for. "First move: Slash" it was a simple term he had used but the power behind it could not be comprehended.
Sam slashed diagonally from the top right all the way to the left side at Ivy's chest. Causing the blood core in her chest to crack. Her body had been cut diagonally and her eyes were full of horror and shock. The garrison 30 meters behind her cut diagonally as well. That was how devastating Sams blow was.
Falling down on his knee. Sam used his sword to support himself. "Son this is what a swordsman can do. One day you'll be able to pull your own moves. Remember this Kai a man can achieve anything he wants if he puts his mind to it"
'Amazing' the child thought to himself. He saw his dad pull off something that was simply too amazing. "My dad really is the strongest in this town" he murmured to himself inching closer to his dad.
Even though Sam had defeated Ivy he was not doing any better. He had multiple stab wounds and lost a lot of blood making him extremely weak. Not to mention the attack he had just pulled off. It took every ounce of energy out of him. He was completely drained.
After checking his dad was still breathing and would be okay he made his way towards the dead vampire. "Hey dad how come this ones not turned into Ash like the other ones did?' The silence was the answer.
He looked back at his dad to see the horror on his face. Complete horror as if he had seen a ghost. " Kai get back here now!" He shouted as he ran towards him.
This was were kai realised those words just meant. Kai could feel immense killing intent from behind him. Turning around he saw the vampire with her upper body throwing herself on to him with her Rapier in her hand that was aiming for his chest.
"Hahaha fool you let your guard down. I'm dying but I'll make sure to take this kid down with me. Die you brat!" Ivy who could barely make out words at this point charged her sword right at Kai's chest.
Even if kai was strong and had a strong body he was only a level 5 after all. Taking a sword attack from a level 10 body refiner even in her weakened form was basically suicide.
His eyes went wide as the sword went through the chest. Blood splashed all over his face. His eyes looked so afraid at this moment. 'No' he whispered.
These words, however, were not for himself. The sword did go through the chest but it wasn't his chest. In the nick of time, his father had already covered the distance and took the attack on himself. His back facing ivy where she pierced the sword.
"Hahaha, this is even better hahaha. Fool such a fool to think you would sacrifice yourself for a child" her body began to fade away as she kept laughing like a mad man. This had turned out better than she had expected.
Sam however ignored whatever she said and simply looked at his son. His body fell forward and Kai caught him. His hands trembling as he held his dad in his arms.
"Don't be sad, boy. Everyone has to die one day." He smiled at Kai but this caused even more sadness in kai's heart. His eyes began to go wet and tears fell uncontrollably.
Seeing this Sam tried his best to smile. "You know I'm so proud of you. Your mother and I found you in an alley 10 years ago. From the moment we laid eyes in you we knew you would be someone special to us"
"Your beautiful crimson eyes and those jet black hair. Your beautiful brown skin and that smile you first gave us when Mary named you. I still remember it as it was yesterday. After that, I saw you grow up day after day."
"You never gave us any trouble rather you would help solve any of our problems. You never cried nor did you ever disappoint any of us. The person you've become I'm so proud of you Kai. My son so please don't cry."
"I'm happy that you shed tears for me and I'm happy that you called me father. I Sam has regretted a lot of things in the past but you Kai have made me the happiest father in the world. My Son, grow strong and grow well." It was getting harder for him to speak anymore as the light in his eyes started to dim
He raised his hand which Kai quickly grabbed as his tears didn't stop. "Kai take care of your mother for me, please. She will be devastated but I know you can keep her safe. Tell her she made me the luckiest man alive. My only regret now is to not see you grow up and become a true man"
With that his breathing became faint and soon he closed his eyes. Sam the man who defended this town and the strongest man in the town had died. "Dad dad!" Kai hugged his father as he wailed. For a 10-year-old this was good much.
He had never cried in his life until this moment. His mother told him how he would never cry so she would never know when he was hungry or sleepy but today Kai who could take beatings from people much stronger than him cried his eyes out.
