Author's Notes: Part â…“ for the grand finale is here! Part two will be out within the next few days and I'd like to give a very special thanks to Mary-Euphoria for providing feedback and suggestions for this chapter.
Gregory and his men marched through the woods towards the school walking in silence the whole way, the only sound was from their boots crunching on the grass. Eventually, they saw the school on the horizon and saw a kid in a tower ducking down.
"Alright. Well, let's hope that these kids believe those shit school lockdown strategies were good," Gregory chuckled.
The soldiers didn't seem to find this funny, but they nervously laughed anyway since Gregory was insane at this point. Once at the gate to the school, Gregory instantly smashed the door in with a crowbar one of the soldiers was carrying and advanced in.
"Alright, you nosy shits!" Gregory screamed, waving the crowbar. "The blonde bitch is dead, some tall boy is being eaten right now! Probably." He scratched his head. "But anyway, we have the eight-year-old here and I'm sure none of you want to see a kid's brains blasted out. Do you? Well, in any case, this shit is done. Either you surrender now, or we will kill each and every last one of you sad excuses for a human being!"
Everyone was in the admin building and scared shitless; over thirty soldiers were in the courtyard and they were severely outnumbered and outmatched in general.
"Aasim, go get the bag of guns and ammo," Clementine whispered, keeping a close eye on the group from her crouched position by the window.
Aasim nodded slowly. He took the stairs, careful not to make any noise since the admin building was old and he didn't want to risk detection. The sound of thunder in the distance and dark clouds over their heads made them vaguely scared.
"What are we going to do?" Nico asked.
"We're waiting," Clementine answered.
"Bitch, we aren't waiting! When they start searching the buildings, which they will, they'll find Henry and Mary unconscious in bed!" Nico hissed. He started to stand before Clementine pulled him back down.
"There is no way that anyone can make it over there without being detected and getting AJ's brains blown out," Clementine replied.
They heard Gregory scream outside, "Fine, don't say I didn't warn you! Search the place boys! If you see anyone, blow their brains out and then we'll start!"
Soldiers kicked down the room to the dormitories making a sweep of the building.
"Alright, we don't have long until they find us in here so we gotta move," Clementine said.
She opened a window slowly and climbed down. Their best chance of survival was heading to the walker infested part of the school. In the distance, they heard two gunshots….. They found Henry and Mary. Realizing this means they'd move to the admin building and notice the open window sooner than expected. They broke out running for the gymnasium.
Upon trying the doors they realized it was stuck shut for having been unused for ten years. Louis gave Nico a boost to the roof so he could get in through the window and open the door from the inside. Nico crawled through, closed the window, and dropped down. What he saw shocked him: the door wasn't stuck shut from not being used, there was a pipe lodged in it, and less than five feet away a zombified kid, hanging from a basketball hoop, his neck barely attached to the body. Nico vomited and wobbled to the door, getting the pipe out from the handles and opening it. The others noticed his ragged appearance and were going to ask him about it, but then after stepping inside Louis recognized the boy to be Little Billy. Not a second later, his head popped off the corpse and fell to the ground with a thump.
"Over here! I found something!" they heard a soldier scream in the distance.
"Well, that's our cue," Louis said, tossing out Little Billy's head and corpse outside and relocking the door with the pipe.
Eventually, the militia made it to the infected area of the school and everyone heard the sounds of footsteps running about outside.
"This is honestly terrifying," Louis chuckled.
"Bitch, you chuckling right now?" Omar asked, smacking the back of Louis' head.
Rubbing his head, Louis replied, "I don't see you brightening up the mood."
It seemed like hours sitting in darkness. The Militia attacked at the most inconvenient time. They sat there until they realized something.
"Fuck! Where's Aasim!?" Ruby asked.
"Oh god, we forgot that he went to get the guns!" Omar exclaimed.
"Goddamn it," Clementine sighed.
Suddenly a knock at the door of the gym spooked them. There was only a single knock, nothing followed it which was good for them, but also slightly worrying.
"Where are these damn kids!" Gregory screamed, "Fuck this, burn the place to the ground! Do they want to hide so badly? Well, they can do it, in ruins!"
Gregory tossed a match which hit the gym and the fire started up. The dark clouds made a large crack of thunder followed by pouring rain which instantly put out the fire.
"Oh, fuck you nature!" Gregory shouted.
The cracking of thunder and lightning strikes caused the soldiers to go into the infested buildings which was slightly bad since there was a way into the gym from the building they went into. In a quick moment of selflessness, Nico grabbed a pipe and wedged it in the door that comes in from the building.
"Don't let a little rain stop you, soldier!" Gregory said, pushing a man out there.
The man was instantly struck by lightning and set on fire. He ran back inside and screamed trying to roll on the ground until the fire killed him. Gregory burst out laughing. The longer his laugh went on the more nervous some soldiers got.
"Oh he got annihilated didn't he?" Gregory asked a woman as he wiped away tears from his eyes.
"Uhhh, he sure did," She replied.
The rain raged for several more hours into the early hours of the next day. Gregory and his soldiers took this time to rest and recuperate while Clementine and the others were hiding under the gym bleachers. At eight in the morning, the rain stopped. Gregory and his soldiers were starving; they hadn't expected this to be a multiple-day thing and Clementine and the others didn't have time to bring any food. Despite the setbacks, the hunt was on.
