"Wake up time," Hugo stated, bathed and dressed, ready for another day of revealing the future.
The class groaned as they all woke up. After taking forever to stretch out they all eventually made their way back into their seats.
"We gonna eat or what?" Alya asked, resting her head on Nino's shoulder.
"In a bit," Iris said, still yawning after being woken up so early. She clicked her remote and the screen lit up.
The screen showed Liam and Iris sitting on a couch. Both held controllers with tights grasps, playing some form of game."I win again," Iris said simply.
"I remember that," Iris said.
"Likes a victory, Liam sucks at videogames," Hugo replied.
"UGH!" Liam groaned, throwing his controller onto the cushion beside him and falling back onto his back."Who made these horrible things!?"
"I ask myself that every day," Adrien humphed.
Marinette frowned babyishly, running her hands through his blonde hair and kissing him on the cheek."Still mad about our last game Cat?"
"No," he lied.
"I dunno Lee but you should stick to the piano," she said, returning to the start menu."Rematch?"
"Damn your harsh," Alya said, referring to what she first said.
"Defienlty" Hugo shuttered.
"Fine," Liam complained, sitting back up and pressing play. Halfway through the first match, the house phone began to ring."I'll get it,' he sighed standing up and crossing the room, gingerly picking up the phone."Hello?" he asked.
"He looks so over it," Alix said.
"Lee's a really sore loser," Iris explained."Too bad he sucks at sports."
"Reminds me of someone," Luka said again."At least about the sore loser part."
"I'm bad at chess!" Kagami admitted."I admitted now will you stop."
"Nope," he answered, putting his arm around her.
"Hi dad," Liam said perking up a little."How's Note?"
"What's wrong with her?" Kagami asked, concerned.
"Perhaps the amputation that was discussed earlier," Max suggested.
Liam listened, tapping his foot to the rhythm of popular songs." When can I come home?" he frowned."Okay, I'll tell Auntie Rose. Bye." he said, hanging up.
"How's Mel?" Iris asked.
"Legless," Liam answered, sitting back beside her.
"This kid has a sense of humor." Adrien laughed.
"Ugh, dude please none of those Cat puns Chat always says," Nino begged, Adrien just shrugging with a we'll see.
The screen switched to show Melody sitting on the edge of her chair."Why are these so complicated?" questioned, struggling to get her second prosthetic on. Both legs ended at the knees and beside her were crutches.
"Excited to try out gym again?" Luka asked.
"I'm shocked she can even stand up," Mylene said.
"After eight years?" Melody asked."Definitely."
"Now that's a long time," Alix said.
"Life would suck without gym," Kim said.
"For you maybe," Alya said, more interested in English class.
The screen switched to the class lined up in the gymnasium." Today we are beginning our next unit." the gym teacher announced.
"Football," Kim said, rubbing his hands together.
"First of all, I'd like you to meet Ms. Anderson who will be assisting us through this unit," he said, a tall woman with fire-red hair said stepping out.
"Camille?" both Adrien and Kagami questioned.
"Who?" Alya asked.
"She fences with us," Adrien said.
"Hello, today we're starting our fencing unit," Camille said.
Melody went pale at the word.
"Dude, what happened between her and fencing?" Nino asked.
"I'm going to pair you up and then we'll go over the basic rules," Camille said, grabbing a box of sabers. One by one the class filed by her, but Camille stopped when she saw Melody." Melody, god I didn't you guys moved back," she said."Last time I saw you you were like this tall and had two legs."
Melody smiled awkwardly."Ya, it's good to see you Cami-Ms. Anderson."
"You know each other?" the gym teacher asked.
"Of course," Camille said, handing Melody a saber which she grabbed with a shaky hand."Her mom used to work with me. Melody ook lessons. One of the best kid fencers I've ever seen."
"I can't wait to see this girl fence," Alya said.
"I'm really not-" Melody began but was interrupted.
"Oh you have experience, then you can go first." the gym teacher said pointing to the front of the class where a boy, suited in fencing gear stood."Students from the Mon Vesimer fencing academy will be assisting us."
Melody was wide-eyed as she walked up to the boy with far more experience than her. He laughed behind the mask, muttering how this would be easy.
"Engarde," Camille said.
Hearing the word something clicked in Melody and it was like she was being programmed to do what. In a simple lunge, she scored a point and that was how the round went on. Every match or two her opponent would score but she came out on top.
"Allez," Camille said pointing her arm towards Melody who seemed almost afraid as she stared with a blank expression.
"Damn she's good," Marinette said.
"She is," Kagmia said, wondering why she'd quit when she held so much potential.
"Why didn't you mention you could fence?" Emma asked as they walked to their next class.
"I can't," she answered, face still written with fear.
"What's she talking about?" Alya asked.
"Ya you can," Emma said," you whooped that kids butt,"
"Totally," Alix said.
"I really can't fence," she said, a hint of anger in her voice. Biting her lip she hurried into their next class, leaving a confused Emma.
"What happened?" Marinette asked.
"You're about to find out," Hugo sighed.
I am aware rehabilitation is much longer than a month(seeing a friend go through it not personal experience) but for this story to work, I had to cut it down, sorry. I'm having a great time writing this story and though we're not close to the end, I'm having a hard time deciding between two endings. Now to keep things a slight surprise, I'm going to be vague.
Option 1: A perfect happy ending, kinda cliche.
Option 2: Involves a lot of struggle but in the end, will most likely work out
Option 3: The saddest of the bunch but involves a lot more emotion than the others and is the most interesting(the one I have most planned out but are hesitant to make happen)
