Frostfire and her friends sat across a camp-fire from the strange SkyWing. Citrus was giving Sunstone dark looks, Skysong had an eyebrow raised, Cleverclaws looked down right hostile, Swordfish was shredding a piece of wood, and Sahara... well, Sahara looked asleep "Why are you here?" Cleverclaws growled "Same as you. I'm in hiding from someone. Oh, and how do I know? WHY ELSE WOULD YOU BE HIDING IN A CAVE." "oh." Swordfish mumbled "Who are you hiding from?" Waterfowl asked "I will tell you guys because you seem like you are running from a no-good dragon too. I'm running from Queen Ruby." "What?! Why are you running from your own Queen?! She's Queen Ruby! She is supposed to be the best SkyWing Queen since Queen Rubellite!" Citrus exploded "And she is. We just, ah, don't see eye to eye on some topics. Or any, in some cases." "Why would you and Queen Ruby need to see eye to eye on things?" Cleverclaws scoffed "Because I am- well, was, Queen Ruby's top supporter for issues such as Scarlet. We worked together for years, until something... happened and Ruby became cold and short with me, but acted normal with everyone else. I don't know what happened."
Sunstone's POV
"I don't know what happened." but she believed she did. Before Ruby had sent her into exile, she and Prince Cliff had become very close. Ruby might have thought too close, and became cold with Sunstone. Soon Cliff started avoiding her, until he finally confronted Sunstone and asked her if it was true, that she had stolen the SkyWing royal gem. She told him no, but he didn't believe her and ordered his guards to arrest her. Sunstone begged him to release her, that she would find who really did it, but Cliff told her that his mother trusted Supporter Smoke. Sunstone warned him that trusting "that no-good, dirty, slimy, evil smoke-breather" But he didn't listen. Shortly afterward, Ruby banished her on pain of death if she ever returned. That had been two weeks ago. Sunstone had been on the run ever since.
Frostfire's POV
"Frostfire wondered if Sunstone was telling the truth, and she didn't know why Ruby had banished her. She got a feeling that Sunstone knew more then she let on. "Any way, why are you still on SkyWing lands?" Waterfowl asked curiously "There's a friend back in the SkyWing palace who was wrongly convicted of a crime. I'm trying to prove them innocent." that might be true. But from they way Sunstone fiddled with her claws, Frostfire could tell that either it was a half truth, or not a truth at all. "Really? That's nice." Waterfowl said "Thanks... anyway, who are you guys running from?" "A crazy animus who is PURE EVIL." Citrus said darkly. "Ok..." "Can we go to bed?" Swordfish asked, yawning. "Sure. We need to get a bright and early start in the morning."
"Frostfire?" "Yeah, Skysong?" "Are you awake?" "Yeah." "What do you think of Sunstone?" "I don't know. Her body langue says she's not telling the truth, but I want to trust her. But she needs to tell the truth more before I trust her." "I want to trust her to, but being banished by your Queen? That's horrible! She's not a hybrid, so why was she banished?" "You don't have to be a hybrid to be banished." "Oh. Well, goodnight." "Goodnight."
Sunstone's POV
"What do you think of Sunstone?" the hybrid Skysong asked "I don't know. Her body langue says that she's not telling the truth, but I want to trust her. But she needs to tell the truth more before I trust her." Frostfire's response scared Sunstone. How does she know I was not telling the truth? Sunstone worried. What if she finds out more of my secrets? "I want to trust her to, but being banished by your Queen? That's horrible! She's not a hybrid, so why was she banished?" "You don't have to be a hybrid to get banished." "Oh. Well, goodnight." "Goodnight." goodnight indeed. Sunstone knew she wouldn't get a wink of sleep after hearing that revel. And, crazy as it seemed, Sunstone was right, she didn't get a wink of sleep. "What a wonderful morning for flying!" Frostfire cheered. "Someone's in a good mood." Cleverclaws grumbled. Look's like she's not a morning person. Sunstone thought. "Stop it. I can be allowed to have one day where I'm not a grump." Frostfire said, rolling her eyes. "Yay. Early mornings." Swordfish mumbled. He rolled over to go back to sleep. The SandWing, Sahara, was watching from on top of aN outcropping. "So, Sahara, how do you feel?" Waterfowl asked. "Decent. I for one, can't wait to go to the Rainforest Kingdom. I've always wanted to see a jungle." "We're heading to the Rainforest Kingdom?!" Swordfish asked, shocked. "I didn't know that!" "Yeah, cause you were asleep when we were talking." Cleverclaws teased him. "We're going to the Rainforest Kingdom because that's the last place Heatstroke will look for us. Queen Glory owes Citrus a favor, though I am still a little fuzzy on why, so we might stay in the palace for a while." Skysong explained. "Let's go while there's still daylight." Sunstone suggested. "Fine." the group lifted off the ground and flew off into the sky.
