The agents walked in while Murray was finish booking Jason. Through the blinds, they could see his mugshots being taken before being escorted into an interrogation room. Hotch was the first one who walked over while the others held back.

"Is there anything else you need from us?" Hotch asked.

"I don't believe so," Murray answered. "We have all of the evidence against him, and he is even willing to sign a confession. Ever since we found his box, he's been very agreeable. Thank you so much for your help," he finished, holding out his hand for Hotch to shake, "We wouldn't have solved this without you, especially this fast."

"It's what we do," Hotch said, shaking Murray's hand before turning back.

"Everything wrapped up?" Rossi asked.

"Yes, we can all go home now."

"No more terrible beds," Kate said, turning to JJ before holding her hands up for a double high five, which JJ readily gave her.

The entire team headed back to the conference room, where they had put their stuff before leaving. They headed out again, preparing to go home.

A couple of hours later, Spencer was sitting in the FBI's bullpen, dotting the final "I" on the report. Thankfully, this case had been relatively simple in comparison to some of their others. It was nearing the end of the workday, and people were leaving for the day. It was Friday, so it wasn't that unexpected. In his pocket, his phone was burning a hole. He said that he would call once he got back, but he stopped himself from doing so under the excuse of having paperwork. He was already the last one since he worked hard to go as slowly as possible.

Taking his phone out, he looked at the time. It was nearing the time when the rush hour would be over. He selected the number he called last night and put the phone to his ear. After a few rings, a much more awake voice answered.

"Hey, Spencer," Alex said.

Out of shock, instead of saying hello back, he asked: "How did you know it was me?"

"After you called, I put you into my contacts, so your name popped up."

"Right... Well, I got back in town a bit earlier. I was finishing up paperwork."

"Really?" Alex asked.

"You sound surprised."

"Kinda. You already being back means you solved the case in like a day. I expect that from TV shows, not real life."

"Well, we're called in to consult on cases. We're not starting from scratch."

"That makes sense, I suppose. Still sounds like a TV show, if you ask me."

"So... I was wondering if you would still like to meet."

"I could do that. Want to meet me at our spot?"

"Our spot?"

"I'm sure a genius like you could figure it out. See you there."

Spencer was left with a dial tone and closed his phone. It was quite easy to figure out what Alex was talking about. He called for a cab to meet him outside of the complex and headed downstairs. He walked through the parking lot and met the taxi that was waiting for him. He hopped into the back seat and gave the cabby the address of the coffee shop. The shop wasn't too far from the office, which made it the best place to go.

Once arriving, he paid the cabby and gave him a generous tip. He walked in and noticed that Alex hadn't gotten there yet. The staff recognized him from the long hours that he spent there. He decided to order himself a coffee and hot chocolate, remembering what Alex had the previous day.

It was just as he received the beverages that Alex walked in. She was wearing a similar outfit as yesterday and was smiling wide.

"Hey, you," she said meekly, a different tone from before.

"I got this for you," he said, handing over her beverage.

"Thanks," Alex said, taking the beverage from him. "I needed this after today."

"I'm sure it wasn't too bad," Spencer told her while escorting her to the table they were sitting at last time, in the same configuration.

"It definitely was. It's almost the first of the month, and some of my volunteers are just now giving me the paperwork that I require. I also had to do a lot of paperwork, and I've been making calls all day. One of my staff members is moving, and I need a replacement for her as soon as possible. I've been in my office all day."

"I can see how you hate that," Spencer said as he took a sip of his coffee.

"I also made my office as boring as possible to force myself to get out and about. I was staring at a blank wall and cactus."

"I would take that over being stuck on a plane. You can walk around."

Alex took a moment to think about that. "I guess so. I did leave every once in a while and talked to some people every now and again, but you solved a crime. That had to feel pretty good. What did you solve?"

"A series of murders," Spencer said dryly.

Alex seemed to put that into consideration. "On second thought, my day wasn't too bad. I stayed safe in a building all day and got a call from a certain someone."

Spencer chuckled. "A murder does make everything else seem better."

"My niece's best friend would beg to differ, but she's a bit out there. We love her, anyway."

As if on cue, both of their stomachs growled. They both looked at each other with a blush covering their cheeks.

"I may have forgotten to get a real lunch today," Alex explained.

"I did, as well."

"There's a delicious Japanese restaurant nearby. We can eat there."

"Sound good to me."

"Great. It's just a ten-minute drive from here. Did you want to drive separately or drive together?"

"I don't have a car," Spencer explained.

"No problem," Alex assured him. "I'm parked right to the left. Trust me, the food there is amazing."

Alex stood up and pushed her chair in. Spencer was quick to copy her, and they grabbed their cups and threw them away. They left the shop and walked over to where Alex was parked. They walked side-by-side in silence but didn't feel an awkward tension that usually followed. The comfortable walked end abruptly when they reached a small vehicle, and Alex unlocked it. She hopped into the driver's while Spencer walked around. As he got in and she started the engine, Alex began to speak again.

"So... Should we consider this date number one?" Alex asked meekly.

"That works for me," Spence said.

Alex turned to give him a bright smile, which he returned, and they left toward their destination.
