Chapter 9: Out of the past
Secret bunker
Tarrlok imprisons korra in the bunker and then proceeds to drive off with her yelling being heard in the distance.
Back at the airtemple
Boruto is returning back to the temple given that he didn't find korra and or tarrlok last night and he wondered what happened to them but gave knowing he had to get back to the temple and couldn't just stay out all night. As he slips back in to his bed tenzin barges in. "Boruto I've just received word that korra and tarrlok have been attacked at his office" boruto shoots right up and they quickly leave to check this situation out.
Tarrlok's office
"What happened and wheres korra" asked tenzin worried about korras wellbeing. "Well she came here to ask that I free her friends but before I could answer we were ambushed by equalists" lied tarrlok. Due to this lie boruto's jougan activates and he sees the dark malice around tarrlok. "I don't believe you at all" boruto said with his head down in anger. "Excuse me" tarrlok questioned as to why the boy didn't believe him. Boruto gets in his face and grabs his collar. "You heard me, I don't believe you" he said aggressively which also gives tarrlok a good glimpse at the jougan. "Y-your eye it's glowing-" tarrlok is cut off as boruto lets him go by dropping him. "Boruto what are you doing attacking tarrlok are you trying to get locke-" tenzin cuts off as he now notices the glowing right eye that boruto is wielding. "What on-" tenzin is once again cut off. "I don't have time for this I need to find my friend and I know he has something to do with it" boruto runs out of the office.
Korras prison
"Somebody help please" korra yells. Korra then begins to try and meditate. Eventually she sees a vision of aang and his struggles with yakone.
Alley way
"Ok so I think this area is where we might find them" mako said. "Ok but wait I have a question" bolin says. "Yes" asked lin. "Where's boruto I thought he would be the first here to save his bestfriend and all" bo asks. "I don't know exactly he actually disappeared last night but I'm sure he's fine that kid has his father's persistence" lin says reassuring bolin. "Back on track now" lin says as she stomps the ground. She then takes off with the others following. "Motorcycle tracks, we have to look down there" mako says as lin bends the tunnel entrance to walk through. "Just wait korra we'll find you" mako says determinedly.
To Boruto
"Come on I need a sign of where korra could have went" suddenly Boruto notices a yellow trail of energy due to his jougan which he has yet to discover. "Woah what is this" he says. He then leaps to follow the trail.
Back to Lin's group
"My officers are inside" lin says as she uses her sensor abilities of metalbending. They then encounter an equalist guard who mako then proceeds to grill figuratively of course. "Avatar korra, where are you keeping her" he asks in an aggressive tone. "Wha- we don't have the avatar" the man says but mako gets more angry. "Mako stop the man is telling the truth" lin says causing mako to let him go. "Why would tarrlok make up a story about korra's kidnapping" mako asked. "I don't know but we must move on" lin stated. They then run until they get to the metal-benders cell. "Chief Uzumaki" one of the officer states noticing lin's presence. "I'm too late, that monster already took your bending didn't he" lin says solemnly. The officer nods. "Come on let's get you out of here" she says as the others including the officers run to leave. "I'm still trying to figure out why tarrlok lied" mako says. "Because he has korra he's fooled us all" tenzin said as an alarm sounds. They all run to a train car as they try to escape the equalists. They seemingly escaped only to come to an equalist road block. "Hang on" lin says as she raises the machine as they go through the roof. Groans are hearf throughout the group.
To korra
Flashback
"Yakone has managed to stay out of the reach of the law for many years, until now" an unknown lawyer states. "Many of his followers have said he controls the underworld by using a forbidden skill, bloodbending" she says grimly. "Objection, this entire case is built solely on the belief that my client is able to bloodbend at anytime on any day, while bloodbending can only be used on a full moon yet the witnesses state yakone can do this at any given time it would be ridiculous to convict someone for a crime that is literally impossibe. "Councilman sokka will deliver the verdict" states an unknown person. "In my years I've encountered many different weird bending abilities, I myself once bested a man who could literally shoot fire with his mind, why even metalbending was considered impossible until our esteemed chief of police Toph Uzumaki singlehandedly developed the skill" sokka states. "The overwhelming amount cases has convinced this council that yakone is one of these unique benders and has used his skill to abuse others, we find yakone guilty of all charges and sentence him to life in prison" sokka states as yakone slowly stands up. Yakone then begins to bloodbend sokka twisting his limbs. Sokka groans in pain. Toph tries to rescue sokka but is then bloodbendes herself. Toph then begins to also groan in pain. Yakone laughs evily as he bloodbends everyone within the vicinity.
To the council room
"Thank you all for meeting us on such short notice" tenzin says thanking the council and chief saikan. "Chief" lin states coldy with a frown. "Lin" he states just as coldly. "Have you news of avatar korra" asked the voice of tarrlok entering the room. "Yes we do, you kidnapped her" said tenzin in an accusatory manner. "I am shocked that you would accuse me of such a thing, I already told you chi blockers attacked and took the avatar" tarrlok lies. "But there were no chi blockers here last night, you planted the evidence didn't you" tenzin states. "That is a ridiculous claim-" tarrlok is cut off by his assistant. "It's true, tarrlok told me to leave him and the avatar alone then he proceeded to attack her and take her out of the city" the assistant said. "And you told us this late because" lin asked annoyed. "Sorry Miss Uzumaki it's just that tarrlok is a bloodbender" the assistant reveals making everyone turn to tarrlok alerted. Before they could all make a move to attack he bloodbends the and forces them all to be knocked out. Tarrlok then flees the building to go to his secret hideout.
To boruto
"Ok so it seems I'm not the only one looking for korra" boruto says darkly as je notices equalists moviny in the same direction as the chi trail. "Hmm I might aswell" boruto says as he takes out one of the chi blockers swiftly and transforms using the transformation justu to turn into a chi blocker without anyone getting suspicious. 'Ok now Korra just a little longer' boruto says in his mind.
To korra
Flashback
Yakone still holds the courtroom via bloodbending. He then uses bloodbending on toph to free himself. He then turns his attention to aang. "Y-yakone you won't get away with this" aang says while struggling for air. Yakone simply laughs. "Republic City is mine avatar, I'll be back one day to claim it" he says as he drops aang. Yakone then runs out of the building and steals an ostrich-horse carriage. "Yes I'm finally fr-" yakone is cutoff as he hears a wind spiral sound. He tries to turn but it's too late as a rasenshuriken collides with the cart destroying it forcing yakone to fall off of it. "Ok buddy you're gonna regret this" yakone says as the figure shows itself to be none other than naruto uzumaki. "Oh really, lets see here you attacked my friends an innocent people and worst of all you attacked my wife toph uzumaki, if anyone is going to regret anything it's going to be you" Naruto says as he goes in to kurama link modeand charges. Yakone tries to bloodbend naruto but naruto just extends a chakra arm to cancel the attack. "Tch, that's all" naruto says taunting yakone which makes him angry. Naruto then began to use his seal to keep Yakone in place. Aang who woke up from before appears before them in the avatar state and proceeds to take yakone's bending away. Yakone is knocked out. "Naruto when did you return from your mission" aang asked curious as to why naruto was here so early. "Well turns out it wasn't that difficult so I cam back early and realized this guy was causing troublen so I said why not help out" naruto said smirking. "You do know toph will be upset since you sorta left without telling her" naruto's smirk turns into a loon of horror. "Quick hide me-" naruto is cutoff as the voice of toph is heard. "Naruto" she said in a voice that was a little too sweet. "Errrr yes my lov-" naruto tries to say but toph simply bends an earth column sending him flying into the sky. "Served him right" she says as she goes to put yakone into custody.
Flashback end
"Aang, this whole time you were trying to warn me about tarrlok" korra says to herself. "Argh my life is a disaster now, thanks to you avatar" tarrlok says as he enters the cellar. "So your secrets out huh, and I know how you bloodbended without a full moon you're yakone's son" korra states. "I was his son, but in order to claim Republic City I had to become someone else my father failed because he tried to rule this rotten city my plan was perfect, but you ruined everything" tarrlok says angered. "The jig is up tarrlok" korra says
"Oh no I'll escape, and you're coming as my hostage" tarrlok says as he climbs the stairs only to be shocked by the presence of chi blockers. "A-amon what are you doing here" tarrlok says. "It is time for you to be equalized" amon states as the chi blockers along with boruto faking the role get into a fight stance. "You fools you've never faced bending like mines" he says as he bloodbends them all except for amon. Amon continues to walk towards tarrlok maliciously. "W-what are you" tarrlok asks surprised. "I am the solution" amon says as he then takes tarrlok's bending away. Tarrlok's screams are heard even in the cellar korra is in. "Go secure the avatar" amon tells his men as they are now awake again.
In the cellar
"Be careful she's ve-" the lieutenant stops talking as he is knocked out by boruto. "Korra re you in there" boruto whispers. "Boruto" korra asks questioningly. "Yes it's me but you really got beaten by that old guy so uncool korra" boruto says as he opens the door. "Oh come on he bloodbended me" she says boruto nods in understanding. She then hugs the daylights out of him. "Thank you boruto" she says. "No...prob...lem" boruto says in between breaths. "Oh sorry again" she says sheepisly. "Now come on korra we have to go" boruto says as they both prepair to leave but are stopped by amon. "Oh Boruto Uzumaki we meet again, come to save your friend I see" boruto narrows his eyes at amon. "Boruto when I say run just run" korra whispers boruto nodded. Korra then bends a wall of fire at amon. "Runnnnn" she yells as she ans boruto beline past amon and don't look back.
To them running
"We have to get back to the city" boruto says but korra trips due to being weak from tarrlok's torture. "Korra no we have to keep mo-" boruto is cutoff as naga tackles him surprising him. "Good girl" korra says weakly. Boruto then puts korra onto naga and grabs her reins while they make their way to the city.
Air bison
Naga's howls are heard. "That sounds like naga" mako says. They go to the sound and find boruto steering naga with a sleeping korra in the back. "Took you guys long enough" boruto says smirking. "So you were out looking for korra this whole time" lin asked surprised that her brother was this skilled a tracker. "Good work boruto but now I am afraid we must take korra to rest at the temple" tenzin interjects. "Great I'm comin too" boruto says looming at korra relieved he made it in time.
