0Before you read this new chapter, I want you all to know that I updated the previous one. So go ahead and read the last bit and then come back. A'ght. We gonna start off this chapter with a chasing scene! Gotta get that action going! Also, I'm going to be making a new LBT story while I continue to write this one. I guess my brain needs to cool off from this topic and just start fresh again. Which...I think It will take me much longer to post a chapter, so just hang in there.
Alright, that's it for now, thanks for waiting so long. Enjoy!
"Now, sure to duck down a little so that you don't make much noise when you brush against the ferns." Chomper instructed his dinosaur friends.
"Wait...I smell something..." Ruby announced hesitantly.
"It's probably your face." Cera joked.
"Oh shut it, hatchling." Hyp snapped. Chomper put up a hand to quiet him.
"I smell it too..."
Everyone silenced themselves as the little sharptooth shoved a few bushes away to reveal an unpleasant surprise.
A dead body.
The carcus was being eaten up by maggots and warms. Flys swarmed around the flesh. A body of what was once a young longneck lay dead under the wet dirt.
The head of Littlefoot was hanged on the decaying body. His face gave off a light wrinkled covering. The sign of life was long gone.
The gash on his neck gaped out and was lined with ooze, indicating infection.
The group of kids gasped and moaned in horror. Tears formed in every pair of eyes. They had a fresh wave of grief that rolled right back into them.
Did I really do this? Chomper thought, looking at his hands with blurry vision from all his tears. Seeing this made him feel sorry for what he had supposedly done. As if he was convinced that his tiny claws met Littlefoot's neck.
"Wait...somethings off..." Ruby said suspiciously.
Chomper inhaled the rotten smell of the dead hatchling, only to find out that the scent wasn't as familiar as he thought.
"That's strange... It's...It's not him."
"What?!" The whole group backed up in confusion and disbelief.
As this discovery broke out, they were too distracted to notice a huge figure looming over them, casting a large shadow. Its nostrils huffed angrily and its unkempt teeth clenched together, forming a very nasty snarl.
Chomper slowly looked over his shoulder to see the furious face of the meanest threehorn he knew.
Hovering over him was the agitated face of Mr. Threehorn. His entire body shook from his heavy breathing.
Chomper quivered with fear. He knew what was about to happen.
Cera backed up next to Chomper. "Dad wait..."
With a long, deep roar, Mr. Threehorn charged for the little sharptooth, aiming his horn to Chomper's head.
The rest of the kids backed away, making sure that they didn't get in the way of the rampaging threehorn.
Chomper, unfortunately, fell from shock but quickly scrambled back up and ran as fast as his stubby little legs could go. His friends trying their best to follow him.
Mr. Threehorn growled, racing on with pounding footsteps.
Chomper took a risk and looked over his shoulder, but only to turn back with a surprised yelp. He turned sharply to the left, not wanting to crash into a huge boulder. Mr. Threehorn turned as well, but he nearly knocked his head against the rock.
"I told you that you'd be dead! No murderess sharptooth escapes on my watch!" Mr. Threehorn huffed.
"But...But I didn't do anything!" Chomper yelped, running out of breath. Though he could manage for a while from all the numerous times he was chased in his lifetime.
They neared a fallen tree that rested on the floor, nearly blocking Chomper's path. But luckily, he was small enough to slip under it.
Behind him, Mr. Threehorn skidded to a halt and uprooted the tree and sent it flying. He shook his head violently and leaped forward to catch up. He pounded behind Chomper, his feet booming across the valley floor. Chomper didn't know how to get away, he couldn't find the exit.
Meanwhile, the rest of his friends huddled together, wondering what to do.
"Come on, we gotta help him!" Cera said as she headed over to a large mountain wall. The rest of the group followed her and climbed the lightly steep side. The wall went on up ahead, but as they climbed forward, they began to drift farther away from the ground.
Chomper ran on, he breathed heavily from exhaustion and fear. As if it couldn't get any worse, he swiftly made his way into a dead end. Panicked, he tried to scramble up the mountain wall that blocked his path.
Mr. Threehorn made it to the corner and halted in front of him. He growled with his teeth clenched tight. "You don't know what I'm gonna do to you, boy!"
Chomper held his hands out to shield his face. He decided to beg for his life, it was a try at least.
"Please...I didn't do it...I'm sorry..."
Mr. Threehorn paused, then he backed away slowly.
Relieved to have gotten through with him, Chomper sighed and lowered his hands.
Though, as the threehorn backed away, he began to scrape his foot on the ground; indicating that he was going to charge again.
Chomper pressed himself against the wall. "No...Please!"
Horn lowered, he charged.
"No!" Chomper put his hands up again, it didn't help the situation, but that's all he could do at the moment.
Above him, a vine dangled over the wall.
"Alright, a little more..." Cera directed. The vine was long enough to reach all the way down to where chomper was, who, in seconds, will be impaled to death. "Chomper! Up here!"
He looked up to see his friends on the mountain wall. They stared at him desperately. He got the message and grabbed the vine. From there they pulled him up the mountain. Below him, Mr. threehorn hit the wall. He shook his head and stomped his foot in defeat. Chomper still worried, even though he got away from Mr. Threehorn, he still had to hope the vine was strong enough. If it broke, he would be facing a large plummet to his death.
Luckily, he made it to the top where he made up with the rest of his friends. They went over to hug him while he tried to catch his breath.
"We thought you were dead-ed-ed." Ducky said, hugging his leg.
"Well, I think the world would do fine without you, just sayin'." Hyp said, crossing his arms.
"Yeah, I'm sure everyone would say the same about you." Cera scoffed.
The whole group laughed a little. Chomper was just glad to have gotten past Mr. Threehorn. He knew he had to go back, but what worried him was that he had to face Mr. Threehorn again. He shrugged, thinking that he would just have to deal with it when the time comes. Besides, he had more important things to think about at the moment.
"Hey, so...If that wasn't Littlefoot...then...who was it?"
Petrie shrugged. "Beats me, probably some Longneck we no know about."
Cera nodded her head in agreement. "True...But that's not what matters, the question is, where is Littlefoot?"
"Why would someone even do such a thing?" Ali's voice was innocent and confused, someone like her didn't understand why people would do things like this.
"Maybe they hid him somewhere." Shorty suggested.
"But why? What has he ever done?" Cera's face wrinkled up in deep thought.
"Maybe it's someone we know." Chomper declared. "And if that's the case, it has to be someone that would have a good reason to do that." He put a claw to his chin.
"Revenge?" Cera questioned. (hint hint)
Chomper thought for about three seconds. He was intensely contemplating. "But..why? For what reason?"
"Uh...We might want to discuss this later." Nod said while gesturing everyone to look up. Everyone did so and they realized that it was starting to sprinkle. They were too busy figuring out the murder mystery that they didn't notice that it was starting to rain. Ruby looked around a bit until her eyes laid on a small cave up ahead.
"Come on, we'll find shelter over there." She starts to head in that direction along with the rest of the group, besides Hyp and Cera.
"We're going back to the mysterious beyond?! No way! I nearly got eaten by three sharpteeth while trying to find you two." Cera complained while stomping her foot.
"Oh yeah, scardy egg Cera had funny look on her face!" Petrie said with a laugh while jumping up and down on Spike's back, who nodded his head in agreement.
Ducky started to laugh as well. "And the funniest things was, it wasn't even a sharptooth, it was her own shadow!" She fell off of Spike's back from laughter.
"Uh-uh...No! It really was a sharptooth, you all are just being stupid!" She put her nose up to the air and turned her head.
"Oh yeah, I can definitely see that happening." Hyp said with a smile.
"Alright, are we gonna get out of this rain or what?" Cera stormed past everyone to enter the cave.
The cave was a bit damp and there were some tiny puddles of water, but it was better than standing in the rain, not knowing where to go. Cera, Spike, and Ducky laid next to each other while Ali and Shorty sat next to each other. Petrie sat on Ali's back while Ruby and Chomper sat next to each other. Mutt and Nod sat next to one another but Hyp decided to sit next to Ruby. He managed to awkwardly wrap his arm around her. Meanwhile, everyone just stared at him. Ruby seemed a little confused but she didn't mind.
"What?" Hyp glared back at them, but they could tell he was a little nervous. "We gotta stay warm don't we?"
"Yeah nice save." Cera said sarcastically.
Hyp blushed slightly from embarrassment. (This makes me cringe a little but then again its kind of sweet.)
Chomper cleared his throat, desperately trying to get out of the topic. "Anyways...I guess this means that Littlefoot is still alive somewhere...Oh dang it, we should have followed a scent trail, what was I thinking?! Now it'll be washed up from the rain!" He said as he realized the big mistake. He buried his head in his hands. He looked up when he felt Ruby touch his arm comfortingly.
"Hey, it's ok. We can worry about that in the morning." She insisted with a warm smile.
"No...We have to find out now...Before it's too late. Before they really take his life away." He said with a shake in his tone.
"How are we gonna do that? We don't have anything to start off from." Cera pointed out.
"We still have the body though." Shorty added.
Cera scoffed a bit. "Yeah, like that's gonna help us." They all seemed pretty helpless at the moment. They didn't know how to move forward from this point.
Ali raised her head up and looked at the group of friends in front of her. She realized that this was a time for encouragement. "Well...Now that we're all safe and sound. Why don't we enjoy each other's company? While we're still together at least."
Everyone seemed to agree and even Chomper decided that it was a good idea to lay back for a while. Even at the darkest of times, everyone needs a break once in a while.
"Well then, what can we possibly do? We're in a cave." Cera grumbled.
"Me got it!" Petrie got up and swiftly flew over to where Cera was sitting and booped her on her horn.
"Hey! You'll pay for that!"
As soon as Cera got up, the game of tag was on. Despite the limited space, they managed to run around and play together. They took breaks occasionally and drank from the little pools of water on the cave floor. As soon as they were done they went on to playing again. They laughed and took advantage of this moment. Chomper was so glad he could spend more time with his friends. They mean a lot to them. As he ran around the cave, he couldn't help but think of all the times in the future that he would need to live alone as a full-grown sharptooth. And he feared the thought of becoming the Sharptooth that would kill to survive, no matter what conditions come after it.
When they settled down to get some rest, they decided to play another game first. They all huddled together in a circle and tossed a small rock around.
"Alright, whoever catches the pebble has to confess," Cera informed.
"Confess what?" Ali asked, tilting her head.
Cera smirked evilly. "Your secret crush."
"Why do you have to target people? Geez..." Hyp crossed his arms again, almost feeling like Cera had done this on purpose.
"Hey! People have lives too you know!" Cera hissed as she tossed the rock in one direction.
Petrie caught the rock in his beak and sat back down nervously. Everyone waited for him to reveal his secret. "Uhh...Me like Ducky."
Everyone gasped in surprise.
"Not much of a secret really." Ducky looked at her friends a little cofused, she'd think that they would have guessed by now.
"Uhh... ok, who next." Petrie tossed the rock in a random direction. He was relieved to have gotten past his turn, though there wasn't much to confess.
The rock landed next to Mutt who picked it up and looked at it. "Uh...we do I do with this?"
Cera shook her head. "Just...Who do you like?"
"I like flowers."
"Good enough..." Cera sighed. She had completely given up.
Mutt tossed the rock and it aimed for Ruby, but Hyp thought it was for him so he tried to catch it as well as her. When they had the rock in both of their hands, they looked at each other in confusion.
"Guess that means you both have to say it at the same time." Chomper suggested.
Hyp shrugged. Since he figured that they would already know what his answer would be. "Uhhh...Ok."
Hyp: Ruby.
Ruby: Littlefoot.
Everyone in the cave turned their heads towards Ruby, their mouths gaping.
Hyp swiftly turned to her. "WHAT?!"
Phew! My hands hurt... Hope you liked that ending. And sorry for not updating recently. I'm human, and I gotta do human things. and yes, Littlefoot is still alive.
Thanks to one of my reviewers, Littlefoot is still alive and is kept somewhere and stuff. So thank you, whoever you are because they are only a guet. So anyway. Thanks again, and please review! Also can you guys tell me how Chomper and the gang can track down the killer? Like the story said, the scent trail is gone so they don't have much to work with. Kay bye, I'm gonna continue being grounded.
