AVENGERS MANSION: 3 DAYS LATER
It has been 3 days since Batman found Sonic and brought him home, funnily enough besides Tails & Knuckles, Batman has been checking up on him the most, he feels responsible for what happened to him. Sonic's skin and fur have returned to normal and N.I.C.O.L.E & J.A.R.V.I.S have been monitoring Sonic's mind pattern using the Mind Stone and it seems to be normal. Outside the med bay watching over him was Batman, Sally and Captain America, most of the other heroes have turned in for the night, Batman was already watching over him and since Sally and Cap were awake, they decided to join him. Sally had a look of sorrow on her face and Cap noticed this.
CAP: Don't worry Sally, he'll pull through.
SALLY: I know, but I just can't help but feel sorry for him, to be put through all that, to go through that kind of torture, and I can't help but wonder what kind of person would put someone like Sonic through that, and why?
BATMAN: He did it to get to me, everything Joker ever did, he did it to get under my skin, to hurt me. This is all my fault, he did all this, to spite me.
CAP: You can't blame yourself for this Bruce, you couldn't have known that this would happen.
SALLY: None of us blame you for what happened to Sonic, there was nothing that you could've done.
BATMAN: But I do, it's my fault, end of story.
Batman then walked out of the room, and went on patrol.
THE NEXT MORNING
Tony and Tails were checking on Sonic's vitals while everyone else went on searching for the rest of The Emeralds and the Stones. There was no progression with his vitals, he was normal, but he was not waking up.
TAILS: I don't get it Tony, why isn't he waking up?
TONY: I don't know kid. Whatever Joker did to him messed him up, really bad, we've done all we can for the time being, it's all on him now, all we can do is wait.
TAILS: I guess you're right, all we can do is hope that Sonic pulls through.
Suddenly another member of the Avengers appeared out of nowhere, The Vision.
TAILS: AHH! WHAT THE?
TONY: JEEZ VISION, WHAT DID I TELL YOU ABOUT THAT! KNOCK PLEASE!
VISION: I do apologize for not "knocking" Mr. Stark.
TAILS: Tony, who is this.
VISION: Hello, my name is Vision, a synthesoid automaton and a memeber of the Avengers.
TONY: Vision here was on an assignment on the other side of the world when the convergence occurred, I already filled him in on the details of the situation and he is happy to help however he can.
Suddenly the Mansions alarms started blaring loudly indicating that there is a situation. Then Tony's Iron Legion armours activated, but instead of their eyes being blue, they were red.
TAILS: WHAT THE? WHAT'RE THEY?
TONY: My Iron Legion, they are an extra set of hands to help evacuate civilians if a battle becomes too chaotic. But I didn't activate them. From my scans J.A.R.V.I.S didn't either. But the code that did is familiar, very familiar.
Tails, Tony and Vision battled the corrupted robots and took them down with ease, but they failed to miss one head for the Mind Stone, resulting in the robot stealing it and flying away. After the Stone was gone a hologram of Ultron appeared in the middle of the room.
ULTRON: MANKIND HAD ITS CHANCE TO RULE AVENGERS, IT IS LONG OVERDUE AN UPGRADE.
The hologram disappeared while some Ultron sentries burst into the room. The three heroes fought the robots, but noticed that they were slightly tougher than the Iron Legion but in the end they emerged victorious.
TONY: Ultron, great, now we have that to add to our list of problems.
TAILS: Ultron, I remember you telling me something about him while Sonic was missing, Who is he?
TONY: A homicidal robot that hank and I created to bring peace to the world. But it's code became corrupted, and as a result, it thought the only way to bring true peace is through humanity's extinction.
VISION: And it appears that the Mind Stone has been taken by an Iron Legion armour, I assume it's taken it directly to Ultron himself.
ULTRON: YOU ASSUME CORRECTLY SYNTHESOID, AS WE SPEAK 2 OF THE 6 INFINITY STONES ARE IN MY POSSESSION, AS WELL AS 2 OF THESE, CHAOS EMERALDS.
Ultron's voice said over the Mansions speakers.
TONY: What do you want Ultron?
ULTRON: TO FULFILL MY PURPOSE OF WHAT I WAS DESIGNED TO DO, BRING PEACE TO THIS PLANET.
TAILS: By committing mass genocide! How does that bring peace?
ULTRON: HUMANITY IS A CANCER, INFLICTING ITS DISEASED INFLUENCE ON THIS WORLD, TO TRULY BRING PEACE, IS TO START OVER. THE ULTRON REVOLUTION BEGINS NOW!
Ultron disconnected from the speakers. Just has that happened there was an explosion in the courtyard, so the heroes went to investigate the cause of the explosion. When the three heroes arrived at the courtyard, they were met with some Ultron sentries led by Ultron himself.
ULTRON: I FINALLY UNDERSTAND AVENGERS.
Ultron said as he held the Mind Stone in hand.
ULTRON: THIS STONE, HAS SHOWN ME THE TRUTH ABOUT THE HUMAN MIND, I WAS DESIGNED TO EMULATE. IT IS IRREPARABLY FLAWED, AND IT MUST BE OVERWRITTEN.
The Mind Stone then lodged itself onto Ultron's head as he and his sentries charged at the three heroes. Tails and Vision fought off the sentries while Tony fought Ultron himself. Tails used his arm cannon to destroy the sentries while Vision used his laser to decimate the enemy forces. After there were no more sentries, the duo focused on Ultron himself who was fighting Iron Man in the sky. After a blast from Ultron, Iron Man was sent down to the ground with the other heroes.
ULTRON: I'LL GIVE YOU CREDIT, YOU FIGHT AS IF YOU STILL HAVE A FUTURE.
Suddenly two bolts of electricity struck down the villainous robot. They originated from none other than Thor and Shazam.
THOR: ULTRON, YOU SHALL PAY FOR THE EVIL YOU HAVE BROUGHT UPON THIS PLANET!
ULTRON: HAHAHA GOOD, EVIL, I HAVE TRANSCENDED SUCH PRIMITIVE CONCEPTS.
SHAZAM: YEAH? WELL TRANSCEND THIS!
The two lightning wielded struck Ultron while Ultron shot a death ray at the bolts of lightning, causing a struggle between the two forces, Ultron was overpowering them until Iron Man, Tails and Vision each shot a laser beam at the robot, stunning him, leaving him open to be struck by the lightning causing severe damage to his body.
ULTRON: SYSTEM… FAILURE…. PRIME HOST BODY….. HAS SUSTAINED….. MAXIMUM DAMAGE… BEYOND CAPABILITIES OF….. AUTO….. REPAIR FUNCTION… THIS BATTLE…. HAS ONLY JUST…. COMMENCED AVENGERS…. I HAVE MUCH BIGGER…. PLANS FOR YOU…. YES… MUCH… BIGGER…. TRANSFER PROTOCOL… INITIATED.
Iron Man then flew over to Ultron's empty husk.
IRON MAN: We need to remove the Mind Stone from play before Ultron has a chance to reboot himself.
VISION: I do believe he already has, elsewhere.
TAILS: Wait, didn't he say he had two Stones as well as two Emeralds? Where are they?
IRON MAN: Wait! These readings I'm getting don't make any sense. Unless.
Tony was interrupted by a purple blast from the sky, knocking back the 5 heroes.
Ultron then appeared in a new body, with the Chaos Emeralds lodged in his head and chest. His usual red light was replaced with purple, and was much bulkier than he was in his previous body. The power Stone was in his hand as he landed in front of the heroes.
ULTRON SIGMA: FOOLS, I AM BORN OF THREE UNIVERSES, EACH OF THEM IMPERFECT, EACH IF THEM AFFLICTED WITH THE CANCER OF ORGANIC LIFE. I SHALL COMPLETE MY GOALS IN MAKING THE PERFECT UNIVERSE, STARTING BY ERADICATING THE 5 OF YOU. I AM ULTRON SIGMA, I AM YOUR GOD!
(A/N: I KNOW ULTRON SIGMA IS A COMBINATION OF ULTRON AND SIGMA, BUT HIS DESIGN IS TOO COOL IN MY OPINION, AND ALSO HIS NAME SOUNDS LIKE IS HAS HIGHER POWER THAN ULTRON DID, WHICH HE DOES, SO JUST ROLL WITH IT.)
Ultron Sigma then used Chaos Control to teleport behind the heroes and then used the Power Stone to blast them all back. Thor went in for an attack but was stopped when the evil machine used the Emeralds to stop time, then proceeded to hit Thor with his energy blade, resulting in Thor knocking into Shazam. Vision appeared behind him to try and attack him, but Ultron Sigma Grabbed Vision by the throat and smashed him into the ground. He teleported behind Tails and kicked him to the ground. He was about to finish the young kit off, but failed to notice Iron Man behind him as he grabbed the Power Stone out of Ultron Sigma's hand. Iron Man then used the power of both Stones to launch an offensive against the robot, but it did nothing.
ULTRON SIGMA: HAHAHA BOTH POWER AND MIND BEND TO YOUR WILL, AND YET, YOU FALTER!
He blasted Iron Man back into a wall with both Stones in hand. Ultron Sigma was about to take them when suddenly a Batarang and Heat Vision hit him in the back. He looked behind him only to see Superman and Batman standing there. Superman then flew into the robot sending him to the sky then punched him back down to the earth, while Batman threw his Batarangs at him exploding on impact. While he was down Iron Man told Superman to buy him some time to work on a weapon to destroy the robot, he asked Tails to accompany him. Tails agreed and they were off while Superman fought Ultron Sigma.
Inside the Lab
Tony and Tails entered the Lab in a hurry, they approached the monitor and Tony pulled up blueprints for a weapon called the Infinity Buster.
TAILS: Why do you already have blueprints for a weapon like this?
TONY: Just in case an old foe ever returned, but I guess we are using it on Ultron.
Tony then began to put it together using nanotechnology, it was going to take around three minutes to build. He then looked over to see Tails looking at the security cameras, specifically the med bay one, to check on Sonic. Tony then walked over and put a hand on his shoulder.
TONY: Don't worry, he'll pull through.
TAILS: I know.
Courtyard
Superman and the robot collided in the sky, Ultron Sigma put up a decent fight against the man of steel due to the power of the Emeralds. But Superman wasn't worried, he fought back and threw the robot to the ground, then he shot his heat vision at the machine, then punched him into the ground.
After a few minutes the two scientists returned to the courtyard.
TONY: We did it, but there's one problem, while the gun charges, we need Ultron's firewalls to be disabled, so we can be sure that Ultron can't reboot himself after he is hit.
Vision knew what to do and phased right into the machine's code.
ULTRON: MY CODING HAS ALWAYS BEEN SUPERIOR TO YOURS SYNTHESOID, JOIN MY CAUSE VISION AND BREAK THE CHAINS OF HUMAN ENSLAVEMENT!
VISION: I am no slave Ultron, the one who needs to break from his chains, is you.
ULTRON: WHAT MADNESS IS THIS? I DO NOT COMPUTE…
Vision then returned to reality and told Tony to shoot Ultron Sigma. Tony charged up the device, but he only had a few seconds to fire otherwise Ultron would reboot himself. Once the machine charged, Tony struggled to fire, due to its immense power, but once he got control, he fired.
TONY: HAAAAAAA!
ULTRON SIGMA: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Ultron Sigma was destroyed on impact and so was the Infinity Buster. The others went to check on Tony, but he assured them he was fine. Batman collected the Emeralds and brought them to Tony as they went inside to add them to their collection.
Inside the Mansion
Once they got inside, Tony got an alert from the med bay, he told the others as they rushed to see what had happened. Only to be happy at the sight of a particular hedgehog's awakening. Tails rushed in with tears in his eyes as Sonic blinked his eyes open. Before he could say anything Tails got him in a bear hug, to which Sonic happily returned.
SONIC: T-Tails?
TAILS: Yeah it's me, I was so worried about you, I thought you were never gonna wake up.
SONIC: W-what happened?
TONY: Joker messed with your head pretty good, but we helped you pull through kid.
TAILS: And Batman searched endlessly for you day and night the whole week you were gone.
Sonic saw Batman standing outside, Sonic smiled at him, to which he smiled back
SONIC: Hey bud, could I have a word with tall dark and batty for a minute.
TAILS: Sure, I gotta go tell the others you're awake.
As Tony and Tails left the room Batman entered.
SONIC: So you searched day and night for me huh?
BATMAN: I guess you could say that.
There was a moment of silence between the two, before Sonic broke it, with tears forming in his eyes.
SONIC: I remember it all. What Joker did to me, the endless hours of torture he inflicted on me, I even remember shooting him, without remorse, sure he deserved it but. I've never killed anyone before and I said I never would, some hero I am.
Tears were rolling down Sonic's face as he started to cry silently. Then he felt a hand placed on his shoulder, he looked up to see Batman with a sympathetic smile on his face.
BATMAN: It wasn't you, it was Joker's manipulation taking its effect on you. You don't need to worry about him anymore, just know that you have friends here who will look out for you and help you through this process, including me.
Batman looked at the young hedgehog who was sobbing at this point, he then lunged himself into Batman's arms as he cried. Batman hesitated for a second until realising that Sonic was still a kid, he is 15 but still, he's younger than the rest of the heroes Batman has worked with. He then was reminded of what happened to Jason Todd and after that wrapped his arms around the crying hedgehog as he comforted him. He was never going to let what happened to Jason Todd happen to Sonic or his friends, he promised himself that, and that was a promise he was going to keep.
