Edward and Teela headed toward another stall, this one selling fabrics for clothing. His sister wanting new fabric for dresses brought them to this section of town. Peddlers showing their wares all around them. All types of gowns could be made from the selection at this stall. Teela knew she was overwhelmed with the task of helping him select fabric. The only gown she had, the one she had worn the other night. Using that knowledge she helped Edward select some yards of fabric to send home. "I'm not very good at this. This is the first time ever that I've been shopping for fabric." Teela confessed.
"Good because this is my first time also, between the two of us I believe we have selected a fine dress for my sister." Edward replied. "Would you like to stop and get something to drink?"
Teela clasped his hand "Come, a know of a good place to go. It's not far from here."
Inside the tavern was nice, airy and well lit. They took a table toward the back of the room. It was not that crowded so they did not have to talk loudly. The waitress came and brought them their drinks and left them alone to their conversation.
"I had fun today, being with you made shopping more enjoyable." Teela said.
After taking a drink Edward replied. "That is the way shopping should be, to enjoy your time together as you shop." He looked at Teela and continued "Unfortunately I have to return to my kingdom tomorrow."
Teela grabbed his hands in hers. "So what does that mean to us, where do we go from here?"
"It only means that we will be apart for a short period of time. I will return in a few weeks and we will continue our courtship." He cleared his throat and clasped her hands a little tighter to continue, "I never expected this courtship to turn out so wonderful. I must inform my family of the happenings and plan for the future. A future with you in it."
Teela smiled. She didn't know how to express her feelings right now. She was excited and scared at the same time. She wanted to scream at the top of her lungs 'yes' to the world, but knew it was not appropriate. Finally she thought, she could show the other courtiers that she was just as good as them. No longer would she be the single maiden at the balls, she had finally found someone worthy of her. Her prince had found her.
A disturbance at the front of the tavern had caught Teela's eyes, there were many people piling into the tavern door. She stood up. Edward and followed her line of sight and stood also. "What do you think is happening?"
"I don't know but it's something to be investigated." Teela replied.
