(Many have asked for a peek at what could have occurred when Georg admitted his feelings for the captivating governess. This is a little backstory bonus content. I hope you enjoy, if there are expansion or origin stories that don't dit in with the flow or timeline, I'll add them called "Memories of a summer". I hope you enjoy! I don't own TSOM.)

—Memories of a summer, A night in Vienna

Ruffles, lace, sequins, music and the scent of perfume surrounded his every movement. Champagne in hand, the feel and taste of it was more tempting than usual. Was it a different vintage? Or was he a different man?

"Darling let's dance you can't stand here holding the crystal all night!"

Elsa dragged his arm towards the ballroom. The champagne had loosened his steps, she noticed. He was stumbling a bit but one could attribute it to the ever moving crowd at the party. Waltzing, spinning, there was little room to move.

He stopped before reaching the edge of the dance floor.

"Georg do you need something?" The Baroness asked him.

"Many things" he answered. The alcohol had freed his tongue as well.

Elsa could see an hint of passion in his eyes. Perhaps it was fueled in part by his fondness for tonight's drink, but she intended to take advantage of it.

"Like what dear, tell me" she said, her voice rich with seduction.

"The music, the dancing, the laugher..." he smiled looking out over the room

The Baroness took a step closer "Yes Georg it is rather..."

Without hearing her words he laughed and said "She was twirling with them, joking and singing it was louder than the storm itself. It was life!"

Elsa was shaken from her mood "She who?"

"Fraulein", he mumbled. "If you could have seen her face, I haven't felt the energy since I" he slurred "I love her oh, you don't know what it was to leave her that morning!"

His knees were warm and weak. Elsa was seething with anger but refused to be embarrassed. Noticing his eyelids lowering as if nodding off she lead him to a chair.

"Georg dear let's have a moment, I'll get you a water it is rather hot in this room you know." She began to walk towards a server, shocked to her core by what he was saying. She was a Baroness, a very sought after socialite. How could a man of his status hold some hired help above her? His words may have flowed out because of his intoxication, but she was reminded of an old saying, "A drunk man's words are a sober man's thoughts".

Every freshened glass was beginning to hit him at once. In his mind the music of Strauss was replaced by Maria's voice, the gleeful tune she had sung to his children was swirling in time to the waltz being played by the orchestra.

Elsa returned holding a glass of water "Georg if you'll have a sip..."

He laughed shooing the glass away "I shall marry this woman" he said slowly

Elsa noticed his eyes were glassy and unfocused. "I think perhaps Max should escort you back to the guest house, it's been a very long evening". Elsa didn't know what to make of his confession. Though obviously drunk, his eyes also held something she had never seen before and it infuriated her. They held the truth.

"Please" Gerog slurred "I can't tell her yet please don't say..." his words trailed off

"No, I wouldn't dream of it" she spat back at him, storming off to find Max.

The next morning Georg awoke regretting his decision to partake of so much champagne. The evening was a blur to him. He remembered the band, the crowd but little else.

A pounding headache and a voice greeted him at his bedroom door "My friend I don't know where you put all of it, glad to see you're alive" Max chided him

"Max" Georg groaned "What the hell, I'm not a drunkard."

"Of course not, Men at your age often can't hold their liquor as well as they used to!"

Georg snarled at him, squinting from the light of morning.

"Oh and by the way" Max's voice seemed to boom through Georg's ringing ears "Elsa wishes to leave earlier to Salzburg, she's quite adamant about it"

"Earlier? She said another week or so..." Georg held his aching head

"Well it's now become this afternoon. So I'd get some coffee in you, a good cold shower and your wits about you."

Georg was stunned. Elsa was due to visit his villa and meet the children soon, but she was not eager to do so.

"I hope I didn't embarrass her with my over indulgence, Max was I out of line with her?" Honestly Georg hadn't a romantic passion for the woman he was supposedly courting, but feared the worst while intoxicated.

Max laughed heartily "Georg you were no more than a sleepy curmudgeon in a chair when she summoned me. Nothing like that at all. You'd just reached your limit. I can't say she was too pleased at all. Do us all a favor and take sips at the next few parties."

Georg began trying to put together the beginnings of what would be a long day, and a chain of events that would change his life forever.
