I ran out of the hospital wing to the library. I ran so fast and reckless that I almost bumped into a few of the palace staff. I went through the shelves and pulled out a book with a purple cover. In black letters, the title was span style="font-style: italic;"Aredellian Legends. /spanI had the book I needed and sighed. Do I really have to go to another place of legend? I've already done that before. Jim entered as I sat down at a table and opened to the table of contents. "I need you to get the others. Hiro's at the outer barbican last time I saw. Don't know where the others are but you have to find them."
"Why—"
I cut him off with a glare. "Just find them! They're probably hearing this voice too." He looked pretty scared for a second and left. Morph nuzzled against my cheek to calm me down.
"Thanks Morph." I said and flipped to the page I was looking for.
Most prominent to Northuldran culture, Athohallen is known as the river of memory. It calls out to those who'll hear its call whether it's beings with magical powers or powerful spirits. It's said that within it's waves are where the four spirits of the Northuldran Enchanted Forest are from as well as their powers such as the Nokk's water shape and the Fire Spirit's flames. Currently the river is being guarded by the former Queen of Arendelle Elsa and her son, Isprin. There's a lullaby sung to Northuldran children telling them of the legend.
I was surprised to see the lullaby below the brief description of the place. I grabbed a parchment, a pen, and a small jar of ink. I wrote the lyrics down on the parchment even though I know them by heart. I just don't trust my spelling skills.
Where the north wind meets the sea In her waters deep and true Yes she will sing to those who hear Where the north wind meets the sea
There's a river full of memory
Sleep my darlings safe and sound
For in this river all is found
Lie the answers and a path for you
Dive down deep into her sound
But not too far or you'll be drowned
And in her song all magic flows
But can you brave what you must fear
Can you face what the river knows
There's a mother full of memory
Come my darling homeward bound
When all is lost, then all is found
I decided to read about the Enchanted Forest to pass the time. I couldn't help but smile to myself reading the part where in 1846, the mist that trapped the forest for thirty years has lifted due to Anna and Elsa. Though I looked neutral on the outside I was screaming on the inside. All I could think of was no. Nope. No way. No how. Just no. No. NOOOOOOO! I don't wanna do something like this. I sighed and looked at the pink blob. "Do you think this may be a new thing?" I asked. Morph shrugged and in re-read the Athohallen. One part of the description caught my eye.
It calls out to those who'll hear its call whether it's beings with magical powers or powerful spirits.
Those with magic and spirits? Why would it call out to me? I know for a fact I don't have any superpowers. Through out my attempts of trying back at the orphanage and some spare time in my dorm, nothing worked. It was a bummer but I accepted it. I know everyone else doesn't have powers. Violet (and Morph if he hears it) is the only ones with powers. Nothing makes sense. I wrote the sentence on the back of the lullaby side and circled it. I couldn't help but write something underneath it.
"What's going on?" Wilbur asked.
I stood up from my seat and faced them. "Are you guys—" I was interrupted by the voice.
"Ah, ah, ah, ah"
"That?" I asked looking at their freaked out expressions.
"Good thing I'm not going crazy! You guys owe me five bucks!" Wilbur yelled in excitement.
"Okay, what the heck is that?" Penny asked. I slid the book over to them and they crowded around it reading. Hiro was holding the book and everyone else is peaking in to read. It reminded me of some openings to Scooby-Doo where everyone else is around Velma while she's looking at a book or computer.
"So, there's an legend that calling out to us." Violet said unconvinced. I don't blame her for lacking faith in the idea. It is pretty far fetched but, it's the only reasonable explanation.
"Did you guys get scanned by that robot and got nothing back to why you're hearing that voice?" Jim asked. They didn't respond. "What's Arendelle?" Penny asked looking at the word.
"A kingdom where Norway is." I explained and I pulled out a book and opened it to a random page. Staring back at me was the map of Arendelle. "The frozen river is located in a ocean known as the Dark Sea, off the coast of the Enchanted Forest. Right now we're in Denmark and after crossing the bay, and through the lands we're gonna have to find some way to get to Athohallen." I said.
"How are we gonna do that?" Wilbur asked.
I shrugged. I looked at Hiro and noticed that he was staring in space. Before I could ask if he's alright he spoke. "If this place holds secrets of the past then..." He stopped mid sentence and I figured it out.
"You can find out what really happened that night." Penny said.
He nodded and stared at his hands. I looked at the paper and stared at the question that's bugging me since I figured out who's calling us. Why are we being called when only a few of us hold special powers?
