The next day was winter break, and all of the Hexside and Glandus students were excited. But with the Christmas spirit in the air, it was definitely the Banshees that would win that contest hands down.
"Ah, the snow on the Boiling Isles is so beautiful!" Luz said, "I'm dreaming of a white Christmas, baby!"
"What do you want for Christmas, Luz?" Gus asked.
"I'll see," she replied, "What about you, Gus?"
"I'm tired of my celebratory flags breaking all the time, so I would like some durable flags!" he said.
"What about you, Willow?" Luz asked.
"I just want everyone to be happy," Willow replied.
"Amity, you've been quiet," Luz said, "What would you like for Christmas?"
Amity looked down at her invitation. "Anything from you would be nice," she blurted out, blushing again.
"Um, OK," Luz said.
As she headed towards the Owl House, everyone went their separate ways with Amity following closely behind.
"About what happened earlier, I-I...," Amity said, "Shit, I-I can't." She put her hands to her chest and backed away, though every inch of her wanted to move closer. But even so, Amity forced her body not to.
"Amity, it's OK. You can tell me anything," Luz said.
Just at that moment, Amity had tears in her eyes. She looked scared. Luz put her hand on her friend's shoulder reassuringly.
"Are you alright?" Luz asked.
"I fear that I'll be rejected because I can clearly see that you think that we cannot be anything more than friends!" Amity confessed.
"Amity, it's not like that!" Luz cried.
Wiping her tears, Amity looked up at Luz. "Are you sure?"
"Yes, absolutely," Luz said, "I would never put you down like Boscha would and you know that you can trust every word that I say. Come here."
"Thank you, Luz," Amity said, "So you accept?"
"Of course I do!" Luz exclaimed, "Why else did you think I would prepare a mistletoe and be thinking of what to get you for Christmas?"
Without thinking, Amity pulled Luz in for a kiss. Afterwards, she slowly pulled away. "I-I'm sorry!" she said, "I-I couldn't control myself! Ever since I met you, my flaws started to show, and I can't control myself when I'm around someone as cute as you!"
"Why do you pressure yourself to be perfect?" Luz said.
"Blights are superior and should hide what makes them unique in order to blend in, but me, I'm a gay disaster. I really shouldn't be here... with you... but every day I think about you and..."
"Well, there's no need to hide from me," Luz said, "I'm awkward, you're awkward. We both try our best to fit in, though it backfires. Even witches make mistakes, but we can either make it or break it. So, whaddya say? Are you still on for a holiday party?"
Amity smiled. "Why not?" she said.
