The heavy downpour mixed with the wind outside as they both worked together attacking the windows of the house. Andy quickly woke up out of her sleep at the sound of the thunder that roared throughout Seattle. She looked over at Robert who was sound asleep next to her with his hand resting in his pants
"Boys..." She said shaking her head.
She checked the time that was on the alarm clock on the nightstand next to her, it said 4:33am. She took a deep breath and rested her head back on the pillow, trying to fall back asleep. She failed this attempt miserably, because of the sky's commotion going on outside.
She decided to go downstairs to get something to drink so she climbed out of bed. Walking to the stairs she heard laughter coming from down the hall and let her curiosity win. She let her legs take her to the direction that the sound was coming from and opened the door to the house's theatre.
What she saw in front of her was Lucas and Vic engaged in a heated make-out session.
"My God, Rip. You've been here for two days. Can you leave my friend alone." She said and they quickly pulled away. Andy could see Vic's cheeks turn red and Lucas looked at Andy.
"What?" He asked putting his hands up. "She had something in her eye..and I was... you know trying to get it out."
"With your tongue..." Andy asked.
"Don't judge my method of treatments." He said winking at her.
"Well... I hate to ruin whatever that was, but I can't go back to sleep." She said walking down the stairs to the row they were on. "Can I stay down here with you two?"
Andy pouted her lip and Vic nodded.
"Of course." She said and moved away from Lucas a little.
She sat down beside her and Vic gave her part of the blanket that she had. Lucas stared at Andy with a eyebrow up and Andy rolled her eyes.
"What?" She asked.
"Nothing..." He said. "It's just obvious your mad at Sully." He said and Andy scrunched her face.
"Well, you're wrong." She said. "And how would you even come to that conclusion?"
"It's storming..." He said sipping his water. "This is your favorite kind of weather. You'd be attached to him at the hip right now."
Andy waved him off and seen him still staring at her. She didn't want them to know what had happened last night between the two. Even though she could blame the influence of the alcohol, she couldn't because she meant everything she said. Last night Andy had briefly forgot that he had a girlfriend and it made her sick to her stomach that she had came onto another girl's boyfriend even if Gia was a jealous bitch. After the realization, She felt as if Robert was making excuses to gently reject her.
Once again Andy was an overthinker, she put way too much thought into somethings that were so simple. She needed constant reassurance or her great deal of curiosity and anxiety would eat her alive.
She cleared her throat and turned towards the large screen in front of her.
"So what are we watching?"
Lucas decided to leave the conversation alone and made a mental note to ask Robert about it later. Robert's parent's didn't get home until Monday night and it was Sunday morning.
"We haven't picked anything yet." Victoria said and gave her the remote. "You can choose something."
"No, you two were here first, plus I'm only in here because I couldn't go back to sleep." She said giving it back to her.
They all snapped their heads to the door when they heard it open and there stood a shirtless Robert. He stretched in the doorway and rubbed his eyes.
"Hey, y'all" He said in a deep raspy voice which made Andy's heart rate speed up. "Andy, let me talk to you real quick."
Andy turned back around towards the screen more in a nervous way rather than a hostile way.
"We're watching a movie." She said with a slight shake in his voice.
"No we're not." Lucas said smirking at Andy causing Victoria lightly hit him on the shoulder.
"Please go back to Mississippi where your parents are." Andy said making him stick his middle finger up.
"You're from Mississippi?" Victoria asked and he shook his head.
"No, we moved there at the beginning of the year for my Dad's job." He said making Vic nod.
"Andy." Robert said.
She huffed and stood to her feet. She climbed up the two steps and walked through the door that he held open.
She walked to the kitchen with him trailing behind her.
"Can we please not talk about it." She said quietly not making eye contact with him. He said nothing.
Robert went to the refrigerator, grabbing the lemonade pitcher and sat it on the kitchen island. He opened up the cabinet and grabbed a single glass from it and poured some of the beverage in it.
He slid the glass over to her and put it back in the refrigerator.
The rain outside was not ending anytime soon, and the thunder seemed to get louder and louder with each rumble.
He left her standing in the kitchen and went back to the theatre where he sat on the last row of recliners. Lucas looked back at him giving him a look and Robert just shook his head.
Every other day, Robert feels like he messes things up with her. He felt like he disappointed her every time he saw her. He knew her inside out and still can't seem to do things right. All of these thoughts ran through his brain bringing emotional pain to him. He felt the thunder shake the house and he felt someone sit beside him.
He removed his arm from covering his eyes and looked over. Andy was there with a blanket wrapped around her, looking straight ahead at whatever Vic and Luke decided to watch. She could feel his eyes on her so she tried her hardest not to look over at him but failed.
Robert's eyes met hers and she saw hurt in his. The breath she didn't know that she was holding released from her body and she nodded at him.
"Not in here." She mouthed to him and he stood up. Robert grabbed her hand and they walked out of the theatre. Andy suddenly started to get tired so she yawned. The blanket was started to fall off of her so she wrapped it back around the best she could with one hand.
He guided her to the third story of the house and they walked up one more set of stairs into the addict. All of the times Andy has been here, this was new to her. She'd never seen this. She looked around the room in amazement and looked at Robert.
"It's new." He said answering her question without her needing to say a word.
In the room were walls replaced with windows. There was not a non-transparent wall in the area. She could see everything that surrounded the house just where she was standing. There was dark colored pillows and beanbags all around the area, spreaded out along with dark colored blankets. In the middle of the room sat a sofa charcoal grey sofa.
Robert came from behind Andy and took a seat on the sofa.
"You ready to talk?" He asked and she came back to reality. He motioned for her to come to him and she slowly dragged her feet to him. She took a seat next to him only for him to lift her and place him on his lap.
Before the conversation began, Andy looked at the beads of rain that she could so clearly see outside. You could lucidly hear the rain slapping against all of the windows that surrounded her. She looked up and noticed the skylight above her and could barely see the moon because of the rain clouding it . It was mesmerizing to see the heavy droplets thrash against the polycarbonate paneled roof.
(A/N polycarbonate: really strong glass.)
She then looked down to Robert who was admiring her amazement with the newly renovated addict.
"I'm ready." She said tiredly.
It was hushed for a few moments while the both of them pondered what to say to the other.
"I'm sorry." Andy started first. She took a deep breath and looked at him. "I'm sorry for ruining your birthday. I'm sorry for the whole Eli thing. I'm sorr-"
"You didn't ruin my birthday." He said.
"Yes, I did." She said. "You don't have to spare my feelings."
"Now, when have I ever spared you're feelings, Andy?" He said and she thought for a second.
"Oh yea." She said in all seriousness. "You're kind of mean."
He chuckled a bit and shook his head.
"I just tell it how it is." He said to her. "But, really. You didn't"
She nodded and rubbed her eyes.
"I am sorry for lastnight though." Her eyes drifted off. "I-I didn't mean to do that."
Yes you did.
"Do what?" He asked adjusting her in his lap.
"You know... kiss you." She said the last part lowly.
"Kill me?" He asked teasing her a bit.
"Kiss you, Robert. I'm literally sitting right here, I know you can hear me." She said slightly frustrated.
"Okay, Okay." He said throwing his hands up in surrender. She took a deep breath and continued.
"A-and... you know. I'm sorry for saying the things I said."
This time Robert was genuinely confused. She said nothing to him last night to offend him.
"What did you say?"
Andy slouched and hoped that he wouldn't make her say it.
"Please don't make me say it again." She said looking down at her hands.
"I'm forreal though. I don't remember what you said." He said.
She sighed deeply and closed her eyes. She had to work up enough nerve to voice this sentence again.
After she opened her eyes, she met his.
"About you taking my virginity." She said and he nodded trying not to show a jurassic facial expression. After a moment she remembered how he so easily declining her in her offer. "I think I forgot that you had someone... I don't blame you for rejecting me."
He glared at her with a scrunched face.
"I didn't reject you." He said.
Andy looked at him.
"It's okay to say it. What happened to 'never sparing my feelings'" She said using her hands as quotation marks.
"I'm not. I just didn't reject you." He said. "You were drunk."
"I was..." She said feeling ridiculous even having this conversation. She sounded desperate, but the damage was done. "...but I knew what I was saying. I told you time after time... that I was aware of the words coming out of my mouth" It was quiet again and Robert looked straight ahead. "Well... say something."
"What if you hadn't?" He asked in a defensive tone with his hand on his chin.
She looked at him with tears burning the inside of her eyes as they threatened to escape.
"How was I supposed to know that..." He continued
"I told you multiple times." She croaked out quietly.
"Once again, you drunk a whole bottle of alcohol. Everything you said was bullshit to me."
"I knew what I was saying." She repeated.
"Okay, Andy. So what if I did what you wanted me to do and you didn't know what you were saying?" He asked raising his voice a little.
Andy swiped away a fleeing tear and got up from his lap going over to one of the many windows.
"What would've happened, Andy? What would've happened when we woke up and we were both naked in the bed?"
Andy looked at the greenery that surrounded the house and continued to wipe her tears.
"Huh?" At this point he was standing up. "You mad at me because I wouldn't take advantage of you?" He said and scoffed at her turning to the opposite direction.
Hearing him say all these things out loud made her feel and sound like a dumbass. Why was she really upset?
"If we were to have sex last night, there was no going back after that. There was no going back to being friends." He said now full out yelling. "If I'm being honest, I'm kind of offended that you could even think that I would do that."
Andy just stared out the window taking what he said to her.
"Last Night I understood because you were drunk, but right now?" His said in disbelief. "You mad because I, me, Robert, wouldn't exploit your vulnerability?"
"Please stop yelling." She said closing her eyes not even bothering to wipe the stream that came from her eyes.
Robert was so worked up that he hadn't noticed how his tone of voice reflected on Andy. Once he saw her, he relaxed his shoulders and ran his hand down his face. He could tell that she was tired and sleepy. He walked over to her where she stood by the window and grabbed her arm bringing her into him.
She wasted no time to sob into his shirt and let everything out. He easily picked up her small body and wrapped her legs around his waist.
"I'm sorry." She said through her weeping. After standing there for a while Andy's crying still hadn't ceased. He carried her downstairs and laid her on his bed before crawling onto the bed himself.
He laid her down on him while rubbing her back. Her face was buried deep into his neck while she sniffled.
"I'm a horrible friend." She said through the static in her voice.
All Robert wanted was for Andy to go to sleep and rest so he didn't say anything. The rain downstairs had slowed down some and it was getting brighter. The sky was grey and there was still no sign of the sun.
Running through Andy's mind was thoughts of how the man she was laying on would one day get tired of her and go on with his life. They were both young and he had all the time in the world. Imagining him leaving her and her living without him being apart of her life brought more tears to Andy's eyes. Robert felt her squeeze him tightly before he looked down at her.
"I'm not going anywhere." He said in a whisper nudging her head with his. "I love you, okay and Nobody can never change that. Ever."
Those words made Andy's heart pound with so much emotion.
"I want you to stop whatever thoughts that's racing through your head right now." He kissed her forehead and she sat up. "...and don't worry about me having someone."
Andy's head rose from his neck and look at him smashing her eyebrows together.
"What happened?" She asked nervously thinking that Gia told him about their encounter two nights ago.
"Long distance..." He lied. "It won't work."
She sighed in relief but was careful to hide her relaxation.
"Sorry." She said. "Are you okay with that?"
If Andy knew the actual reason he cut Gia off he reaction would be totally different so Robert just nodded his head.
"Yea, I'm straight." He said truthfully shrugging his shoulders. Andy placed her head back on his chest and sighed. "I didn't reject you Andy..."
She had thought that the conversation was over but she was sadly mistaken. Her body tensed up at his words.
"Please." She said quietly.
"We can be done with it after this, I need you to know that I didn't reject you though." He said and she said nothing.
Her insecure thoughts were back to intruding her mind as she closed her eyes trying to get rid of them. After a few moments, Andy still hadn't responded causing him to lift her body and place his eyes on hers.
His eyes pierced hers. Both lids were low because of their exhaustion.
"I didn't" He said tiredly.
Andy nodded. "Okay."
"I'm sorry if I made you feel like I did."
"I was overreacting." She said looking down at her hands.
Before Robert could say anything, there was a knock at the door and it was pushed open by their friends.
"I don't remember saying come in." Robert said and Vic looked over at Andy who was laying on his chest. She noticed her tear stained face, puffy eyes, and red nose.
"Oh, baby." She said coming to the side of the bed where Andy was closest to. "Who did it?" She asked.
Andy giggled raising from Robert's chest and sat against the headboard. "Nobody."
"I know I'm in your house, but I will fuck you up." Vic said in all seriousness to Robert and he threw his hands up in surrender.
"He didn't do anything, Vic. We were talking." She said.
"Well do you what a hug?" She asked. "I'm giving you a hug." She pulled Andy in before she could protest and wrapped her arms around her.
Ripley sat on the ottoman and looked at Robert.
"Have you told her about the uh..." He said waiting for him to catch on. "The thing you got for your birthday..."
"Not yet." He said and Andy looked at the two.
"What'd you get for your birthday?" She asked.
Robert pulled a drawer out from his nightstand and handed her the box that he had placed in there. She took it and opened it and was confused.
"What's this?"
"The paper." He said pointing to inside. He was still tired and just laid on the pillows with a nonchalant expression.
She read the paper and looked at Lucas and him. "Your family is moving into a new place?" She asked trying to figure out in her head why that would be a birthday gift.
He shook his head. "It's mine." He said rubbing his eyes and yawning. "It's a loft downtown. I move in Monday." He said and her eyes widened.
"Wow, really?" She asked with her hoarse voice.
He nodded and Vic looked at them.
"How is this not a big deal?" She asked. "You just a got a place for you birthday and y'all are acting normal..."
Lucas cracked a smile at Vic.
"Not normal for us..." He said. "Just him."
"Shut up." Robert replied.
They all talked for a while and noticed the time said, 7:33am.
"If yall are sleeping in here..." Andy said. "Not to sound rude or anything, but you need to change clothes."
Robert let out a loud laugh. "It's cute you thought they were sleeping in here."
Vic took a pencil from his desk and threw it at him before the two walked out.
"Wait, Vic." Andy said and she stopped in her tracks. "I'm really tired, can we leave after we sleep?"
"Yea, she's not leaving right now." Lucas said and Andy rolled her eyes. They left and Andy looked over to Robert who was dozing off.
Andy had four men that she truly loved in life. Her dad, Lucas, Robert, and Eli. She still did love him, feelings just don't wash away, but she didn't want him.
Everytime he was to glance at her, it was like he stole a piece of her heart each time. She didn't like the feeling of someone having so much control over her without controlling her at all. When he was to handle her so gently and have the softest spot for her in tough situations she wanted him to be in her life forever. She was coming to the realization that she had unintentionally fallen in love with him.
"Stop staring at me." He said with his eyes closed snapping her out of her thoughts. He opened his eyes and turned to her and his face quickly diverted from tired to worried. "What's up?"
He wiped a lingering tear from her face and she hadn't realized she was crying.
"Nothing"
He brought her down to his chest for the fiftieth time today and ran his hands through her hair.
She rose and looked at him.
"I love you." She said meaning it in a different definition than what he interpreted and laid back on his chest. "Goodnight."
"It's morning..." He chuckled and dozed off to sleep
Hi
Bye.
