Thunderbirds are go a Cinderella story - chapter 8

By BlissfulBlossom7

"I thought you weren't coming."

"Me too", she smiled back.

Scott paused for a moment to then realise what he needed to do next.

"Umm, if I may… that is, would you give me the honour of letting me lead you though this first umm…"

"Dance?" Kayo softly finished after a while of gazing into his eyes.

"Yes dance", he laughed realising his mistake.

Kayo nodded and smiled in agreement, with a moment later the Prince slid his arm around Kayo's waist leading to her gasping a little. The music then slowly started in the background as they started to dance.

As they stated to glide along the floor everyone started to watch them in awe and surprise, especially those that knew them best and their unknown enemies.

Kayo noticed this.

"They're all looking at you", she said anxiously turning back to the Prince.

"Trust me", he grinned, "they're all looking at you."

The slow dancing continued for another few minutes which then lead to them picking up the pace and Scott lifting and spinning around Kayo a couple of times too as they both got more comfortable with the moves.

After the dance had finished and Kayo curtsied down to floor level and finally looked upwards too Scott, with her flowy dress now spread out on the floor around her.

Everyone was now clapping in amazement for the two of them.

And then it clicked in Kayo's head, she added up all of her surroundings, to the overwhelming attention coming from everyone in the room, to a proud group of nobles, and the clothing they and Scott were wearing she had worked it out.

Scott was the Prince, how had she not realised it sooner?!

"That's her isn't it, it has to be", Alan said nudging John a little too hard.

"I think so, she does look familiar."

"Plus, he wouldn't just approach a random person like that", Virgil added. "No wonder he's been acting different the last few days."

"Who is she?", Princess Katherine murmured to the Grand Duke from a distance from the rest of the nobles curiously, feeling slightly jealous.

"I have no idea."

"Who is that father?", Havoc questioned impatiently from a back of a crowd trying to get another look.

"I'm not certainly sure, but she doesn't look like good news."

"That's a lovely dress she's got on", Fuse commented.

"And she's way prettier than me…"

"Concentrate you two! Havoc you must turn the princes head, now work together and get out there you fools!"

"But no one has asked us to dance."

At this moment, the hood pushed the two towards a couple of other siblings to partner with, and the music had now picked up which lifted the atmosphere.

"That's funny", the hood murmured after, "she does look rather familiar."

Everyone was now dancing in the room as the positive energy spread around. Everyone but the royal family, apart from Gordon who himself was still a bit confused how Penelope ended up in his arms, he noted to himself to question John later.

During all the commotion it was now pretty hard to spot anyone in the crowded dance floor, leading to possible, secret and easy getaways.

"Quick come with me", Scott said to Kayo as they snuck out of a back entrance into another empty neighbouring room, with Scott closing the door behind them.

They were still giggling behind the door as they both caught their breaths.

"So, hang on a sec you're the prince?"

"Well not exactly THE prince I do have four brothers and there are many others in the world too."

"I hope this doesn't change anything between us, I was afraid if I told you originally you would have treated me differently", he admitted.

"Of course not, I'm just surprised you never told me in the first place, I suppose it's a bit of a shock that's all. But that also means you're also not an apprentice, are you?"

"Technically not", he smirked, "But I am still learning my trade."

"True."

"No more secrets?"

"Agreed no more secrets."

Meanwhile back in the ballroom…

"Well, I'm off!"

"What do you mean Virg? You can't just leave; dad will go nuts when he comes back from talking business with the Crition-Wards to find you missing!"

"Only for a minute, let's say to get some air. Hey as soon as everyone figures out Scott's missing with another girl, they'll all come crawling to me next exedra depending on age. I'll come back in a sec and someone else can have a go deal?"

As much as this speech freaked them all out, they agreed, "fine", the remaining three grounded.

Meanwhile Janus was striding fast down a corridor with an announcer who was quickly jogging behind him and scrolling his eyes down an invitation list.

"Who is she?!"

"I don't know she didn't say my grace", he replied nervously.

"Well why didn't you ask? At this rate she's going to ruin my plan to get Prince Scott to marry a real princess we can trade with", he blurted. "Err give me that already!", he snapped snatching the piece of paper off the announcer. "Oh no not her!"

"What?"

"If I am correct, I think she may be that girl the Prince met in the forest a few weeks ago, the one who embarrassed me in front of everyone, and if he was taken by her then, then goodness knows how he feels now! Plus both of them are missing and nowhere to be seen! She won't get away with this…"

With the hood overhearing from nearby (who was trying to figure out the next move) he pretended to accidentally bump into the Grand Duke.

"Oh, I am sorry my grace please forgive me I did not me to intrude."

"Oh no please forgive me dear sir, I did not see you there."

"Well in that case your secret is safe with me…", the hood grinned screamingly as he walked away.

He slightly remembered the Duke from his dark past and knew if things came to worse terms, he now knew who he could make a deal with, as well did he now know why he could not spot of eldest Tracy prince.

Scott and Kayo were now walking through the place gardens so they could be alone.

"Won't they miss you at the ball?", Kayo asked.

"Mabey but let's not go back just yet."

"What's wrong?"

Scott smiled, "I guess I can't hide anything from you. When I go back, they will try to pair me off with a lady of their choosing. I'm expected to marry for advantage by most people.

"Who's advantage?"

"That's actually a really good question.", Scott replied

"Well surly you have a right to your own heart?"

"True", he said, "I suppose it's mostly a couple of other nobles and the grand Duke who expect such bland tradition, but at the end of the day I guess they have no power as mine and the Kings wishes go against his."

Meanwhile Lucy too had found her way to an empty spot outside. She wondered where Kayo had gone as she was the centre of attention only a few minutes ago. When she had spotted her, she would report back to Sofia. No way was she interfering, that girl needed a break.

*Thump* she then crashed into someone and now both of them were on the floor.

"Errr, oh I'm so sorry I should of looked where I…", she turned around to see who she had collided into, it was Virgil.

"Oh, my goodness I am so sorry your highness I…"

Virgil smiled, "hey don't worry it's fine I should have been paying attention too", he admitted as he helped himself up and offered a hand out to Hannah.

"Oh, thank you, I'm sorry again I'm so clumsy!" she said as she stood up.

Virgil now had a real view of her she had a sweet face, glossy back hair up in a complicated and professional looking bun, meaning she must be very talented, chestnut brown eyes and a flowy mint green fitted ball gown on. In other words, Vigil thought she looked like a female version of himself.

"No worries miss um…"

"Lucy."

"You can call me Virgil, wow you have the same name as my mother, well at least it was her nickname my father gave her.

"Really", she realised fascinated.

"So, Lucy what are you doing out here shouldn't you be in there enjoying yourself like everyone else?"

"I could say the same for you", she giggled.

"True well I guess I'm looking for my brother, well one of my brothers. He disappeared from the ball room a few minutes ago and I just wanted to check on him from a distance, plus I needed some fresh air from responsibility."

"Really similar to me then", Lucy explained. "I was also looking for one of my friends I haven't seen her in a few days and I and my other friend were starting to get worried for her since she does have such a hard life these days. Hey maybe she's the girl with your brother!"

"Good thinking!", Virgil said, "what to search together in the meantime?"

"I'd love to."

Meanwhile Scott and Kayo had now come across an old wooden door hidden mostly by foliage and a tall border surrounding it.

"I've never brought anyone here before."

As they entered Kayo saw an amazing small private garden that was filled with beautiful plants, it had a wildlife filled pond and wooden swing hanging from a tree branch with plush green grass at its base.

"Wow a secret garden."

"It was my mothers favourite place to come when she was outside the palace, she'd usually bring me and my brothers here as well, we'd have so much fun, but ever since she passed my dad can't bring himself to come here, you see they were so devoted to each other", he sighed.

"My mothers in heaven to, maybe they know each other?", Kayo mentioned attempting to lighten Scott's mood.

"I don't see why not."

They then came up towards the swing.

"Do you want a go?", the prince smiled.

"I shouldn't."

"You should."

"I shouldn't."

"You should."

"I will."

Kayo sat herself down adjusting her skirt with Scott's help, then he gently pushed Kayo up and down using the thick ropes supporting her.

"Do you want a go next?", Kayo laughed.

"Not really."

"Come on it's only fair."

"Fine I guess your right.", he admitted with a grin.

With one last swing Kayo was about to slide herself off but not before one of her slipper's beet her to it.

"Oh allow me", Scott offered before Kayo reached for it herself.

She nodded and let the prince gently pick up the heel from the soft grass.

"Its made of glass", he said in surprise and looked up to Kayo.

"Yep", she smiled with shrug.

He glided the shoe back onto Kayo's delicate foot and he looked back up to her from the ground.

"Why can't you just tell me who you are?"

"If I do it might all be different", Kayo replied with slight worry.

"But can't you at least tell me your name?", he tried.

"My name is…"
