Thank you for all the nice feedback! Here's another short but sweet Halloween treat for you – and I feel like I have to apologize in advance…

Tricks + Treats + Teeth

"Hey sleepyhead…"

Riley opened her eyes at the sound of Mac's voice, and immediately groaned at the tension in her neck.

"I fell asleep," she pointed out, realizing that she was at her workstation in the Phoenix lab – the dimly lit Phoenix lab, as most of the other staff had left hours ago.

"You did," Mac confirmed with sympathy, being all too familiar with the pains that came with falling asleep at a desk. "Working on anything important?"

"Not really, I just wanted to update this code before Bozer's Halloween Party…Bozer's Party!" Panic spread across her face as she checked the time.

"Don't worry. I'm running late, too. I was upstairs, finishing my costume…" he smiled, revealing a set of fangs – and that was when Riley noticed the rest of his get up.

"Vampire?" She asked, taking in the sight in front of her. Mac was sporting black slacks, and a ruffled white shirt under a wine colored brocade jacket. His blonde hair was pushed back and the top buttons of his shirt were undone, making him look like the type of vampire that belonged on the cover of a Harlequin paperback…

"I know, it's cheesy," he laughed. "But I couldn't resist these…" he flashed her another smile, proudly showing off his fangs. They weren't the plastic kind, that were reminiscent of an ill-fitting retainer. No, he had caps on his incisors that looked incredibly real …and sharp.

"You could have gone with werewolf," she got up, to get a better look at them – they were sharp.

"I could have but…" he brought his hands to her shoulders and spun her around in one swift move.

"What are you doing?" Riley felt him run his fingers up her arm, leaving a trail of goosebumps behind.

"…werewolves don't get to do this," he brushed her hair back over her shoulder, giving himself access to her neck.

"They don't get to do what?" she whispered, feeling his breath on the side of her cheek.

"Pay attention Riles…"

She froze as his lips made contact with her skin, slowly moving over her jaw and down to her neck.

"I'm trying…" she shivered when he grazed the skin over her pulse point with his teeth. Not because she didn't enjoy it, the problem was…

"Do you want me to stop?" He interrupted her train of thought, his voice husky.

Did she want her best friend, who she happened to be in love with, to stop acting out some sort of vampire fantasy at the Phoenix lab? It shouldn't even be a question. It was unprofessional, inappropriate and straight up confusing… She knew Mac had game, but not like this, and certainly not with her…

"No."

She could always blame the full moon. Or was that just for werewolves?

Mac didn't waste any time and brought his lips back to her neck, kissing the tender spot where his fangs had already left a small mark.

Never mind.

She closed her eyes and leaned back against him, angling her head so he could reach her throat. And he got the hint.

He pulled her closer, one hand in her hair and the other on her waist (dangerously close to slipping under her top), carefully scraping his teeth over her throat and sucking at it lightly.

"Mac…" she whimpered…

"Shhhh..." he smiled against the sensitive skin, before he diverted his attention to her lips, placing a soft kiss on the corner of her mouth.

And that's when Riley decided that she wanted to play a more active role in this fantasy.

She turned around, hands gripping at his shirt as she met him in a feverish kiss. He leaned into her, trailing her spine with his fingertips before he lifted her up to the desk behind her – without ever breaking contact.

She heard something clatter on the tiles.

The little bowl of paperclips she kept for him? The buttons of his shirt? It didn't matter.

"Riles…" he pulled back.

"Don't stop…" she begged, wondering if she had done something wrong.

"We're gonna be late… Riles…"

All of a sudden the lights were back on, and she was back in her chair…

"Hey sleepyhead," Mac laughed."You ok? I hope I didn't startle you. I dropped my keys on the way in."

"What…" Riley needed a moment, as she came to the realization that the last few minutes had been nothing but a dream. And extremely vivid dream, but a dream nonetheless.

"Bad dream?" He asked.

"Not really," she replied, a blush stealing up her cheeks as she looked at him. There he was, dressed in jeans and a white henley, no trace of the vampire from her dream…

She brought her hand up to her neck (just to double check). Nothing.

"You ready to go?" He asked.

"Bozer's party," she remembered. "I completely spaced, I don't even have a costume."

"Me neither, we can just improvise something," he smiled and helped her into her jacket.

Still somewhat dazed, Riley watched him pick up her bag when the confused look on her face morphed into a suggestive smirk.

"How do you feel about vampires?"

I'm sorry! Or not… I don't know. It's the season. Reviews are very welcome!

Love,
