Chapter Nine is here.
I don't know what to put here.
Onto the chapter.
OWLPAW POV:
Owlpaw walked around the den, it was sunset.
Then she heard Sunstar's yowl outside: "Clan meeting!"
Owlpaw yawned, rubbing her eyes, she walked out of the den and sat in front of the Highledge with Goldensun and Redpaw, Shadowedpaw keeping a distance from Redpaw.
"Firepaw, Windpaw, Foxpaw, step forward." Sunstar meowed.
Firepaw and Windpaw's eyes widened. While Foxpaw stumbled out of the apprentice den excitedly. They stepped forward, gazing up at the leader.
"Windpaw, you have completed your apprentice training. Not only that, but have wisdom and joy as well, two hard things to find in a warrior. Windpaw. Do you promise to uphold the warrior code, even at the cost of your life?" Sunstar asked.
Windpaw looked up at Sunstar, brown eyes glistening. "I promise." she answered.
"I name you Windflower, new warrior of ThunderClan." Sunstar leaped off the Highledge and they touched noses.
When Sunstar got back on the ledge, she looked down at Firepaw.
"Firepaw, you have shown remarkable skills in your apprentice training. And have shown loyalty and kindness towards your Clan. Firepaw, do you swear to uphold the warrior code, even at the cost of your life?" she asked.
Firepaw hesitated. Although the promise was an easy part of a warrior ceremony, he saw it as a vow, not a small question. He'd be risking his life to help his Clan. Seeing no reason to hesitate, he finally looked up at his leader. "I promise." he swore.
"Then I name you Firegaze, new warrior of ThunderClan." Sunstar leaped off the rock once more and touched noses with the new warrior. Then, when Sunstar went back on the rock and then looked at Foxpaw. "Foxpaw, you have shown bravery and courage in your training, and have always been loyal to your Clan no matter what. Foxpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code, even at the cost of your life?"
Foxpaw looked up, eyes glistening. "I promise."
"Then I name you Foxtail, StarClan honors your courage." She touched noses with the apprentice and was about to yowl for the meeting to end, Blackstripe ran into camp, followed by Darksky, Deerleap, and Oakpelt.
"F-foxes! C-coming t-towards camp!" Blackstripe yelled.
Quickly, queens herded kits into the nursery, warriors started yelling and following Blackstripe out of camp, and elders hid in their den. Owlpaw and Redpaw joined Goldensun and many others in running out of camp to help.
REDPAW POV:
Blackstripe should have been specific, there were at least ten adult foxes with sharp claws and teeth, incredible size, and beady yellow and green eyes glimmering in the sunlight. They growled at the cats and leaped.
Redpaw didn't know how to fight, Goldensun hadn't taught him. So he yelped and ran up a tree, struggling to dodge a fox's claw as it struggled after him. Two foxes were climbing the trunk. Jaws snapping at him and barks thundering as they scratched and scratched the bark.
Foxes were getting closer, he realized. He struggled up the tree. But the next branches up here were too weak to support his weight. Finally, as the largest fox's jaws reached for him, Redpaw had to make a choice.
Stay in the tree and let the fox kill him.
Or, make a flying leap towards the next tree and hope he landed in its branches.
Redpaw leaped out of the way, the fox just missing his tail, he crashed into the next tree, branches poking at his eyes and face as he dangled from a weak branch high in the tree. If the branch snapped, a fox would catch him or he'd fall to the ground and break himself. So, quickly, Redpaw scrambled over to a thicker branch.
"Redpaw!" a voice yelled.
He looked down to see Goldensun trying to drag terribly wounded Darksky back to camp.
Redpaw climbed down the tree and immediately ran to help her when there were no foxes looking. Redpaw saw Darksky's flank was badly wounded, his leg was twisted, and his tail scratched off.
In the camp, Sunstar followed Blackstripe out of the hollow to help fight the foxes, Windflower and Firegaze followed them.
Redpaw and Goldensun laid Darksky in a nest with Ashpaw.
"Foxes? Attacking camp?" Ashpaw yelled. "I need to go out and help!"
"Your leg is still wounded." Goldensun snapped.
Redpaw put too much marigold juice on Darksky's wounds by mistake. Then Goldensun wrapped his leg in cobwebs and examined him for other wounds.
"R-Redpaw?..." Goldensun whispered. Redpaw followed her gaze to a long, deep wound on Darksky's throat, his chokes spurting more blood from the wound.
"D-Darksky, just hang in there. W-we'll fix it…" Redpaw stammered, he quickly wrapped the wound with cobwebs. But Darksky shook his head, tears and blood mixing as he looked up at the medicine cat and her apprentice.
"Let… me… go…" he wheezed.
"No no no no no. Darksky, you won't be leaving to StarClan, not anytime soon." said Goldensun. "Here… eat this." She placed some herbs in front of him, but Darksky was too weak to move his head as his breaths slowed.
"G-Goldensun… y-you can't… save… e-everyone." Darksky whispered. "Surely… surely you know that…"
"Stop meowing! It will only make the blood worse!" yelled Redpaw.
Darksky shook his head. Then he looked out the den, at the stars of Silverpelt. "O-our time a-always comes eventually… Redpaw… w-we must accept o-our fate, whether it's our destiny or our death, even you a-and I must accept it… a-and my time has come…" he looked back at the two, his eyes twinkling like the stars. Before they fogged over, his breaths slowed, he lowered his head, and his body was dead-cold.
Redpaw couldn't breathe either as he watched Darksky take his last breath. Darksky's last words echoed in Redpaw's mind: "We must accept our fate, whether it's our destiny or our death…"
Redpaw tried to calm Goldensun's sobs as they mourned the warrior. Redpaw was soon crying, too.
"He's at peace, now, Goldensun…" Redpaw whispered. Slowly, the medicine cat's sobs softened.
"But I tried… I couldn't save him…" she whispered.
"You can't save everyone, Goldensun, you know that. It's part of the trials of a medicine cat." Redpaw meowed firmly. Suddenly, the apprentice looked wiser than the mentor as they locked eyes.
Ashpaw coughed to remind them she was still there. They turned to face Ashpaw, her eyes wide. "I need to help! Before everyone else dies! Even though I hate to say it, this is not a time for mourning! There are still foxes out there and cats who might be wounded like Darksky!"
"Your leg is still wounded." Goldensun yelled back.
Redpaw nodded, Ashpaw was right, though. They needed to save the Clan.
Screams and yelps thundered outside and Goldensun and Redpaw ran out of the den.
Short chapter. R.I.P. Darksky.
I have made Chapter One to my new fic: "Frostheart's Vengeance"!
Chapter Ten's gonna be about Emberpaw failing at her apprentice training and the Dark Forest being evil kittehs again. I may just add Chapter Ten today.
I still need more OCs for the story. I need evil cats for Dark Forest, a leader, medicine cat, and deputy for SkyClan, and MUCH, MUCH more warriors for ThunderClan and ShadowClan
Have a good morning / day / evening / afternoon / noon / night / 2.P.M.
