Battlestar Thor

Chapter 9

"This was when Kataskevi was renamed Olympus?" asked Kurt

"Yes sir, as in the home of the gods" and Kurt nodded "Olympus began a new role as a Colony and research ship, the crew of scientists began experimenting on the transplanted people to see if they could find a cure for their race to survive. But after a few hundred years, they failed and secretly sank the ship were we found it and ascended when the humans started to develop their own technology,"

"And That was where we got the rest of the information from Thor?" said Kurt

"Yes, sir. these humans were left on their own and began to build machines to help them with their daily work, but soon these machines turn on their creators," said Carl

"And the war between these humans and machines began and they were determined to destroy themselves," said Evan Jager "heard that story so many times"

"I think we all have, but they only manage to destroy some of themselves," said Major Strauss "what was left of them were forced to the thirteen colonies, with the thirteenth being the first to leave by over two thousand years,"

"Olympus detected the thirteenth colony ships leave and it laid dormant for about 4 to 6 thousand years until the colonial and Cylons returned. After another battle, both machines and humans left! That was 150 thousand years ago. Olympus has everything we would need, even the docking bays could hold up to five Aurora-class battleships and still have enough left over for the Bismark and Amazon, and the colony ships back in Alpha Centauri. The construction bots will take about four weeks to secure and repair the whole ship, everything will be as it was on the day Olympus was built"

"Okay, if we have four weeks to wait, take the Gateships and explore every millimeter of this planet" finished Kurt. The Olympus bridge, living quarters, and hangers were soon repaired for the crew to use, everyone was given a single bedroom unit for themselves until Kurt can work out just what to do from now on.

Kurt who also had the ATA gene replacement was one of the reasons why he was given command. Kurt thought he should sit on the chair to see what Carl may have missed, and unlike Carl, who was far too excited to think straight, he had found a few other very interesting items about why Olympus was in perfect working order and was fit to use.

Kurt had found that an unknown number that was well into the millions of perfectly preserved human embryos frozen in the medical life center. Straight away he called both Chief Medical Officers, Lieutenant Commander Adolph Maze, and Major Tomoe Gazen, and ordered them to take their team and head to Olympus medical section on the lower levels and investigate what was there. Five hours later, they asked Kurt and Colonel Mavia to come down to the medical section, "So what do we have Adolph?"

"What we have is five million Embryos in stasis just in this section alone, we found another ten sealed area's within Olympus giving us a grand total of 50 million human embryos, each consist evenly number of both male a female," said Commander Maze

"Are they clones?" said Carl "you know? Like the Asgard?"

"I haven't fully gone over all the records Sir, but what I have learned so far is these five million, and the others are not clones, the DNA samples were taken from a single human test subject that had shown to have the Ancient gene. Each embryo is ready for either testing or implanting, either into human females or by what we can read so far that they could also be developed in the special incubators pods that they are in. These pods can act as a womb where the embryo can grow for nine months, once the baby is ready, it can come out of these pods and looked after until they are old enough," said Tomoe

"Just like the Asgard?" said Carl

"No sir, more like Star wars sir?" said Tomoe

"But Star Wars was make-believe," said Corporal Mary Timms

"Made fact by the Asgard and now the Ancient," said Kurt "Anything different about these? I mean will they be like the Asgard or Star wars?"

"Similar to star wars Sir, In a sense of being a single-minded person that will live a full normal life span of about 150 years that can reproduce offspring," said Adolph

"150 years Commander?" said Kurt

"You did get your gene inoculation?" said Tomoe

"Well yes," said Kurt

"The Gene inoculation changed in 2015, medical microbots were included with the shot and everyone should have a life span of 150 years," finished Tomoe

"I see, that would have been best to know when I got it?" said Kurt

"Didn't you read the instructions they gave you sir?"

"Not really, well it doesn't matter now. The question that matters now is what to do with these Embryos?" asked Kurt

"Leave them in stasis, for now, they will be okay until you decided when to start the growing procedure," said Adolph.

Six months since they were thrown back in time and now they are on an alien planet at the other end of the galaxy, they have the chance to take possession of a few extra ships, an Alteran City ship, a Colonial Battlestar, and a fleet of colony ships. The idea now is to return to Alpha Centauri and bring everything, including the ships to Kobol in Olympus, then with the use of the Bismark and the Amazon they can search out the colonies and the other Kobol.

Captain Bruhn was also talking over another idea with Ensign Liam Marks, he talked of an idea that centered around finding people to help our small family grow their own food. They already have the wild cattle and other animals on Kobol and other planets close by, but the wild vegetables and grain would run out and they would need farmers. Marks had said, "Why not just hire, or free the people from the worlds ruled by the Goa'uld and start up the old agricultural sections of Olympus, or better still, use the rich farmlands on Kobol. The peasant farmers of old knew more about the land and how to use it better than our people, there are many human worlds that contain primitive farming people.

Captain Kurt Bruhn, Major Karl Strauss, and Commander Carl Hoffman were called to one of four farming section of the Olympus. Ensign Marks was using one of those farming slashing machines to cut down the vegetation from an acre, he had stopped the machine and we all walked over to the area to see what it was like "after so long, the soil need's a lot of replenishing" said Marks and he grab a handful of dirt and squeezed it and then let it fall back to the ground as dust. "Maybe a few tonnes of new soil and fertilizer wouldn't pick this up,"

"Do we replenish it, change it, or use the soil of Kobol?" said Thomas

"This soil has been sitting in this ship for a very long time and these weeds and grasses only grew within these last few weeks since the ship was reactivated, they will soon die," said Strauss

"It is a good idea hiring peasants workers, but not for Olympus, Kobol has billions of acres of rich fertile land we can use," said Kurt "Dump this bad soil in the oceans and we will make use of the space for something else,"

"Yes Sir, can we still hire a few people from earth?" said the Ensign

"No, we are not allowed to, we need to require farmers from the worlds around us" replied Kurt

"We can always teach them how to use the more modern equipment? But I believe that the more horse-drawn versions of these machines could be the quickest way to help them farm efficiently, and I think the next generation we could help them learn how to operate the more modern type of machinery," said Carl

"what do you mean Carl," said Kurt

"Every Generation has the power to learn, a nephew of mine was given a computer tablet when he was just two years old and by the time he was Five! He knew it better then most adults who built it, teaching the very young farmers technology could see them learning more than their fathers, and with every generation, if we are successful in teaching these children, they will teach their children how to use the technology" said Carl

"And who will teach them?" said Karl Strauss

"We will Major! We could use the Ancient and Asgard computers to help us, with a little colonial and Earth knowledge thrown in, they could know as much as we do in ten, or maybe twenty years, then the following generation twenty to thirty years will get to learn even more," said Carl

"You may have something there Carl, you always said we needed more people, apart from going back to the future! Training the very young children, even babies from those stasis pod birth could give us a replacement crew within twenty years and build a new society in next to no time"

"Not just the farmers and their children, but why not orphans!" said Colonel Verner Hausler as he came into the farming area, "Sorry for ear's dropping sir! But you might want to see this?" and he handed Kurt a computer tablet

"You sure of this?"

"yes Captain, if we could get the automatic machines going and find enough workers to operate them. Then the Olympus workshops could help us upgrade the thirteenth tribe ships in under a year, then Olympus can build everything we need to build our towns and future cities,"

"But we still need to find the people to crew them," said Major Thomas

"correct," said Hausler

"This idea might be our best solution for the long-term," said Kurt as he thought about the idea, "Sound interesting, we will need to see what the colonies have installed for us and we just can't take the Olympus all over the Galaxy, as soon as we return from Alpha Centauri, the sooner we can start exploring,"

"Yes sir," asked Carl

Five weeks later, Olympus return to Alpha Centauri and removed all the technology they could find. Every ship both new and old were placed in the Olympus docks and in the now empty farm sections, it had taken two trips and nearly three months to load everything in the Alpha Centauri system and return to Kobol, but before leaving both systems behind forever, Kurt and the new science department left a few surprises in the moon. As soon as Olympus returned to Kobol, Bismark headed for these twelve colonies.

"We know that most of this northern outer rim area has been forbidden to any Goa'uld for thousands of years, so we can relax and start a colony without any of their interference. But I still like to send patrols with the Battlestar Thor newly developed long range Vipers, I heard that they have a hyperdrive and cloak technology now, they can keep an eye out for us, just in case" said Kurt

"I was also thinking that we should go back to occupy the outpost at Alpha Centauri in the future, link the outpost with a stargate and an iris once our number grows. The outpost would be a good way to keep an eye on earth, and thanks to our foresight of future events, our descendants can help Stargate Command when the time comes,"

said Carl

"It may sound like a good idea, but it could also put Earth in danger as well," said Kurt

Wait until the Bismark returns from the colonies, we will then send the Amazon to the other Kobol," said Kurt

"By the way sir, Colonel Mavia said she wants to talk to you," said Carl, Kurt headed to the bridge of the Olympus and found the Colonel reading over some reports from the Olympus computers,

"Lozen, you wanted to see me?"

"Yes Kurt, a few of the female crew had told me that you found a few human embryos in the Olympus genetics medical lab?"

"Yes, Olympus has over 50 million of them in sealed compartments, why?" said Kurt

"What going to happen to them?" asked Lozen

"Well nothing at the moment, they are safe where they are and Commander Maze said we could use them as soon our population grows," said Kurt "What are you thinking Lozen?"

"I was talking to Ensign Pamela Jones, she one of the married crew members who had children in our time. She and a few others have been down lately that they will never see them again, I was wondering if we could make them mothers again?" said Lozen

"I see, how would you explain this to Ensign Jones, or even to the children themselves?" asked Kurt

"Life moves on Kurt?" said Lozen

"Yes, let me speak to the doctor first and I get back to you?" said Kurt

"Yes sir," finished Lozen, Kurt return into his quarters to soak in what Lozen had just told him, yes the crews of both ships were missing their families, even he was. Not long after this, one of the Bismark Junior science officers came in to see Kurt about another discovery that was sealed in the old science lab of Janus, this one could answer all their questions.

The area that was found to be a secret hanger and research area, inside were two experimental ships. The young officer was unsure what they were at the moment, but the name of an Ancient scientist who created them rose a red-flagged in the computers. He decided to come to Kurt and find out what he wanted to do as the name of the ancient was Janus.

Janus was behind many experiments and by rights, he had known of Olympus and Kurt wondered just how long he was in this galaxy after he returned. Janus's most notable experiment was the time puddle jumper SGC found in Atlantis. If these ships were what he thought they were, maybe things just took an interesting direction.

The two ships defiantly looked like Puddle jumpers, but they were more of a shuttle than anything else. Both ships were about 170 meters long and about 34 meters wide and could carry close to 200 people, they both had hyperdrive and cloaking devices. Straight away he thought about the crew's family and partners, maybe we can return home in the shuttles, either to stay with their family in secret, without the authorities knowing, or bring their family back to this timeline.

Even to the beginning of the Stargate program and leave them with a little heads up of their future, or even remove those trouble makers that interfered with the program and try to stop the program. Every idea and thought came into Kurt's head, but that's if these ships are time machines. This is just another item to add to the list, should we use the Time ships? Or the stasis pods? What would happen to the embryos if we left them another 500 years? Or do we take everything we found back to Alpha Centauri and use the time ships to return to our own time? It is an interesting development.
