Goh had brought up the idea of researching the Regi's to Professor Cerise, who while seemed interested, said that it might be too big of a task even for them to tackle right now. He instead suggested the trio go to Cinnabar Island to possibly revive the fossils they found at Mirage Tower in the meantime. As the trio left Professor Birch approached him. "So your assistants, what can you tell me about them. Such an interesting group." "Why do you ask?" Cerise said trying to not hide his concern of Ash's cover possibly being blown. "Hoenn is a big region full of mysteries, and I'm thinking of asking for some young assistants myself, to help give it all a new look, and I want to know your choices method." Bitch said with a chuckle. Professor Cerise sighed with relief.
Outside the lab the trio were walking away when Chloe realized a small problem. "How are all of us getting to Cinnabar Island. It's not exactly like we can walk there. Ash and Goh smiled at each other. "It's easy. We'll fly!" They said in unison. "Aerodactyl it's your time!" "All right then. Charizard! Dragonite! Come on out!" Three of the fiercest fliers known to Kanto were now standing in front of Chloe. "I've never flown a Pokémon before though." Chloe said, backing up slightly. "Don't worry then. You can take Charizard. He's a great flier. Even if you fall off he'll catch you." Ash said, pushing her towards Charizard. "Also try and not talk when flying." Goh warned. A few more minutes of convincing Chloe and the three were in the air. Chloe screaming for a fair amount of the initial take off. Once they had stopped ascending, everything just felt at ease though.
Chloe looked down and was astonished at the ground below her. There was so much of Kanto she had yet to explore and here was Ash and Goh who had been all over. She was part of their team but felt so far behind in comparison to them. Looking over she saw Ash, not a care in the world barely holding onto Dragonite. On her other side was Goh being held by Aerodactyl's legs. He seemed more interested in whatever he was looking up on his phone but still showed little concern. She then looked at the Pokémon she was riding, Ash's Charizard. She had read about them, they were said to be fierce creatures, but this one seemed very focused, doing its best to give her a smooth ride.
An hour later they landed on Cinnabar. Ash began stretching as soon as his feet were on the ground. Ahh nothing like a good ride through the air. Goh meanwhile was moving his shoulders. "No offense Aerodactyl, but I might need to find a less clawy way to fly some time." He said with a chuckle pulling out a Sitrus Berry for his Pokémon. "Good idea!" Ash said looking through his bag. "You know Ash, Professor Birch isn't here, you don't have to keep up the voice." Goh said pointedly. "I know but if I don't keep it up, he might catch me with my guard down." Ash said when he finally found what he was looking for. Pulling out the Sitrus Berries he gave one to Chloe and one to Dragonite. "Ash I'm not sure I should have this." Chloe said, confused. "Of course not. It's for Charizard." Ash said, patting Dragonite's snout. "Why me though? Isn't he your Pokémon?" Chloe said, still confused. "He May be my Pokémon but he did take it slow for you on the way here." Ash said, pulling out Dragonite's Pokeball. "Okay. Here Charizard. Thanks for the ride." Chloe said, holding out the berry. Charizard carefully grabbed the berry with a smile before swallowing it whole.
With the flying Pokémon back in their pokeballs the trio went to the fossil restoration lab. Being told it would take some time they decided to explore the island while they waited. It was mostly a resort, so sadly for Goh. Not many wild Pokémon. Chloe on the other hand was just excited as this was technically her first job as a research assistant. She watched as Ash began wrapping his arms around himself though. "What wrong Ashley?" Chloe asked coming up to her friend. "I don't know. I just feel like someone's watching me." Ash said. "Welcome to the ugly side of being a girl. To some people we are nothing more than something to look at. But you should be fine I mean what you're wearing isn't revealing or flaunty." Chloe said looking him up and down. The tee shirt had a red and blue spiral design with a yellow trim, a pair of jean shorts, and some knee high black socks, with a pair of white trainers. Ash may not look revealing in that outfit, but even Chloe had to admit he looked like any other girl right now.
"Come on, let's stick together just in case." Chloe said, taking Ash's hand. They looked at some stalls with assorted goods, as Ash calmed down. "Feeling better?" Chloe asked. "Yeah a bit, thanks." Ash said with a sigh of relief. "Hey you two!" Goh shouted, approaching. "You just left me back there." He said angrily. "Sorry, we were just having some girl time." Chloe said bluntly. Goh gave Ash an inquisitive look, and Ash could only give a confused look back not understanding what Chloe had meant. "Anyway our fossils should be done by now. We should head back." Goh said, trying to move things along.
"Okay. Goh was it? Your fossil turned out to have the DNA of the ancient Pokémon Anorith. As for Ashley, yours was that of a Lilleep." The scientist said pushing forward a cart with the two revived Pokémon on them. "Sweet!" Goh said, pulling out a pokeball to catch the Anorith. "What do you say, do you want to come with me?" Ash asked the Lileep as it touched his pokeball going inside.
Heading back outside the three trainers sent out there flying Pokémon but upon taking off Ash and Dragonite zoomed off directly north for some reason. Chloe figured they had to have a reason. Maybe Ash really was homesick, Pallet Town was just a quick trip north of Cinnabar after all. When she and Goh landed back in Vermillion city. Chloe was surprised to see Ash not too far off in the distance. "Hey Ashley where'd you go?" Chloe asked for what felt like the second time that day. "I had to get something from home just in case." Ash said, holding up his bag.
