Family Can Come As If By Magic
Chapter 8
As the days passed Cedric finally decided that it was time for Sofia to finally meet his parents...well again since last time it didn't end on a great note.
When Sofia was told that they were going to visit her Papa's parents at Mystic Mellows, she was nervous as she remember the last time, but Cedric was quick to reasssure her that this time, it will be the four of them having brunch and talking and if all goes well, maybe play some games.
On the way to the retirement village, Cedric told Sofia about who his parents are and what they were like and how they have been wanting to meet her since they found out about her.
"Do you think they will like me?" Sofia asked still a little bit nervous.
"If I know my Mother, she will spoil you rotten and Father will want to teach you everything he know about magic about his own time as a Royal Sorcerer, so you don't have to worry about them not liking you, they will love you, just I do."
Cedric ruffles Sofia's hair making the nervous girl giggle and forget about her fears as they finally were at the enterance and greeted by his parents.
Winifred gaves Cedric a big hug, which he returns and then she does the same to Sofia as Cedric greets his father, Goodwyn.
"It's so nice to finally meet you, Sofia, your father has told us alot about you." Winifred said excited to have another grandchild to spoil rotten with her love and treats.
"Like what?" Sofia asked curious as Winifred takes out her wand and gives a wave.
"I know that you love the color purple and fly cakes just like your Papa and that you love to play, go fish and checkers and you love learning about magic, along with potions."
As both grandmother and granddaughter got acquaintanced, Goodwyn decided to ask Cedric about something important.
"So Cedric, I am just wondering does Sofia go to school?"
Cedric was surprised by the random question coming from his father, and then he thought about it for a moment and answers.
"I do not know, when I first got her it never crossed my mind at time as she was grieveing the loss of her mother and I the woman that I once loved and seeing how the school year ended about week after her mother's service, I figure that I would deal with it when the time came closer."
Goodwyn gave his son a stern look before saying...
"Really Cedric? School is important for children to learn how to survive in this world, when they become adults and get jobs."
Cedric always disliked how his father made him feel like a child getting scolded for doing something wrong.
"I know that Father and I will bring up to Sofia when I get chance okay, please let's get off the subject for a moment and let's just have a nice brunch, good afternoon filled with fun and games."
Goodwyn nods in agreement as they went back to where Winifred and Sofia were laughing and talking about Cedric's childhood and some of the most embarrassing things he did as a child, making the man blush red as he tried in vain to stop his mother.
For the rest of the afternoon, Sofia got to bond with her Grandpa and Grammie, learning about her family's history and how they became Royal Sorcerer to many Kings and Queens and according to her Grammie how to make the Fly Cakes in the world. When it came time to go home, Sofia didn't really want to leave at first, but was told that their portrait was in her son's workshop and she could asked for them whenever she needed them.
"Goodbye Sofia, come visit again soon my dear, I love you." Winifred hugs Sofia as Goodwyn said his farewells to his son, then they switched and Cedric was getting a bear hug from his mother, while Sofia was hugging Goodwyn, who returns the gesture and smiles softly as he said.
"Come and visit again soon, Sofia."
After that they got into the carriage and took off down the path to go back home and that when Cedric had an idea.
"Sofia, how would you like to learn magic, like me?"
Sofia smiles widely before saying...
"Yes! Yes! Yes!" Sofia leap onto Cedric lap and hugs him tight in her excitement.
"Alright, then I will give you my practice wand when we get home, I will teach you the basics of spell casting and the do's and don't of magic."
Sofia was literally bouncing in her seat as she was so eager to be learning magic like her Papa.
A few hours later finds Cedric with Sofia teaching her how to do basic spells that he had learned from his father when he was younger and then he remember his talk with Goodwyn and looks at Sofia with a look of concern, which Sofia picks up on.
"What's wrong Papa?"
Sofia put down her wand and crawls into her Papa's lap and looks at him mirroring his concerned expression as they embraced each other.
"Nothing, my dear just thinking about something."
"Like what?"
"Sofia, how do you feel about school? Can you please tell me if you started it yet as well."
Sofia thinks for a moment before answering with a shake of her head sadly as her eyes became bright with tears.
"I was going to be starting this year, but after what happen...I thought that I was going to have to wait another year to go."
Cedric simply tightens his embrace to comfort her as the topic of her late mother was still hard.
"Do you want to start learning how to read, write, do magic, and do maths?" Cedric asked
"Yes, I would love too!"
Cedric smiles at his daughter's excitement as she was off his lap in a flash jumping and running around as she was so happy to be starting school.
"Excellent! I will sign you up to attendant school in the village to learn the basics and then when you are 8 years old, if you want to go, The Hexley Hall school of Magic."
Sofia nods excited at the thought of learning more about magic like her Papa, he was already teaching her the basic wand movements and some simple magic chants.
"Papa?"
Cedric looks at his daughter onces more, with a smile still on his face.
"Yes?"
"I heard that sorcerers and sorcereresses have nicknames, do you have one?"
"Cedric the Sensational."
"Why do you have to have nicknames?"
"It's important to magical person because it tells others what you are known for and what you represent as a person."
"What does Sensational mean?"
"It means that person or event brings excitement, interest to others."
"Wow!" Sofia looked at her Papa in awe making the man chuckle alittle, before scooping her up into his arms onces more and giving her belly a tickle making the girl laugh and squirm.
After few minutes of tickling Sofia, Cedric stops and puts the girl down to go and play with the twins and Madeline as they all had promised to show her some new flowers in the gardens after she got back from visiting her with her Grandparents.
"Bye, Papa, I love you!"
Sofia hugs Cedric around his waist, which he returns wholeheartly.
"I love you too, my little Sorcereress."
Soon Sofia was out the door and off to play with Amber, James and Madeline until dinner and to tell them about her starting school and learning about magic.
