Spencer slumped into his apartment hours after arresting their kidnapper. They had to talk with her again and the last two victims, which caused many hassles. Also, since the news had become aware of everything, they had to work their hardest to keep things quiet, not much use it seemed.
He slipped his shoes off and placed them next to the pair that were already there. He walked into the kitchen to see Alex at the stove with headphones at her ear. He went over to her phone, which seemed to be playing a book, and paused the audio.
"Hey," Alex said. "Why'd you do that?"
"Better than sneaking up on someone who might have a knife in their hands."
"Well, lucky you, you would have only been stabbed with my spatula. So...," so she ended, inquiringly.
"So, what? Spencer asked, pretending to be stupid.
"Don't 'so, what,' me, Spence. You know exactly what I want to know."
"Okay, fine. Yes, we finally solved that case," Spencer explained.
"You don't sound too happy about that," Alex noted as she went back to the food.
"I understood why they did it," he sighed after a bit.
"And if you were stretched to the limit, you could see yourself doing the same thing."
"Exactly. Also, it dealt with kids."
"So you've come to the right person for this issue," Alex said, taking the food off the burner and reaching for plates. "My advice is to remember that they're their own people who make their own decisions. We can guide them, but in the end, we can't take responsibility for what they do."
"What about your day?" Spencer asked, standing to get utensils and everything else for dinner.
"Good; I got a whole bunch of work done. Also, don't be surprised if you meet my niece soon."
"Why?"
"She apparently she knows all about you."
"How does she know about me?" Spence asked incredulously.
Alex turned to look at him with complete confusion. "I don't know how she found out. My guess is that she is super nosy-she gets that from her mother. The only good thing is that she usually uses her powers for good. Usually."
"I'll be on the lookout for a peppy blonde girl," Spencer promised.
"And her brunette sidekick who will begrudgingly be there as well."
"Anyone else I should be on the look for?"
"Your people, I suppose," Alex ended with a shrug.
