Next chapter is up! It's been a minute since I've updated hasn't it? This is the last chapter until I finish my RotG and Httyd crossover, or until I need a break from it. Happy reading!
Disclaimer: I do not own anything in any stories written unless stated otherwise(OC characters). If I did the Httyd franchise wouldn't have ended, there would be a Rise of the Brave and Tangled Dragons movie, there would be a second Rise of the Guardians, a second Brave, Playing with Fire would have a tv show...
Valka arrived at the nest in with plenty of daylight left, so she decided to play with the dragons for a while. She let Cloudjumper rest and headed off to find any problems and do a quick damage control.
The damage control had been for naught, seeing as how there were no signs of an attack or any fighting from the dragons. Her blind Hobblegrunt and his few blind Raincutter friends found Valka first. To her it seemed that they could smell and hear better since they lacked the ability to see. Soon all the Nest dragons, aside from the Bewilderbeast, had grouped around her, begging for attention.
Valka cuddled and played with the Nest dragons until sunset. She had also told them about the Red Death and why she was away, and had informed them all about Hiccup. After a quick dinner of fish a Scuttleclaw had brought her Valka started packing her scant belongings.
Of course, when Cloudjumper had taken her she hadn't been able to bring anything with her, but by trading molted dragon skins at the Northern Markets Valka had purchased some supplies. She had a few dresses and leggings, a blanket, a small dagger, some pots, pans, and vases, and some salt to cure meat. Valka also had a few books written in Norse, and one written in a strange language called Eńska. All of those belongings fit into a small box, easy to fly home with.
A little while later Valka happily drifted off to sleep, thinking of her son and the life ahead of the Haddock family. She promised the great Bewilderbeast that one day she would bring Hiccup here to meet him.
Right now Stock really wished Valka was in the house. That dang cat was causing trouble again, so was the dragon, and Hiccup could obviously feel pain. Waves of hurt washed over his face, but he still didn't move. At least for the time being.
The orange fur ball was trying to kill Stoick. (That's how Stoick saw it, in his mad rampage trying get the cat off of his beard.) He had dropped his witling knife under the table, and unbeknownst to Stoick, Mr. Fiddlesticks was under the table. When Stoick had leaned down under the table, Mr. Fiddlesticks had pounced, right onto Stoick's fiery red beard, effectively getting tangled in it,
Toothless saw the action unfolding and decided to have some fun of his own. He tackled Stoick and Mr. Fiddlesticks to the ground. Toothless kept them pinned to the floor and started a licking attack. Soon Stoick and Mr. Fiddlesticks were soaked in dragon saliva. Mr. Fiddlesticks actually seemed to be enjoying himself, adding in a few of his own licks here and there, but Stoick was not enjoying himself. To make matters worse Hiccup chose that moment to wake up.
The first sign that something was happening was Toothless stopped licking Stoick and the cat and watched Hiccup. The second sign something was happening was Hiccup started moving around and making noises. Finally his eyes snapped open and he looked around the room.
"Toothless? Hey Bud," Hiccup said. Stoick was now utterly surprised. First off, his son just woke up from a comatose state, and boom, he's talking. But Hiccup wasn't stuttering. Most of the time when he would talk to Stoick or another Viking he would stutter. One time Hiccup had started stuttering so bad Stoick had to make him write out what he was trying to say.
Stoick took a deep breath and started, "Hiccup, son, how're you feeling?" Hiccup stared at him for a second and started laughing, but quickly stopped after it jiggled his broken ribs. It was then Stoick noticed Hiccup was staring at his beard, and he realized he had yet to pry Mr. Fiddlesticks off his beard.
"S-sorry. Don't hurt him or Toothless, please?" Of course, his selfless son only cared about the cat and the Night Fury. Somehow that made Stoick feel even more guilty about the recent turn of events. finally decided to get off Stoick's beard, choosing to curl up in Hiccup's stomach instead.
"Toothless and Mr. Fiddlesticks are fine. It's you I'm worried about. How are you feeling?" Stoick repeated. Hiccup's eyes were starting to droop closed; Stoick could tell Hiccup would go back to sleep soon.
"Sleepy," Hiccup murmured. By now his eyes were completely closed, but Hiccup tacked on a few more words before he went to sleep. "Love you dad, love you mom."
"Love you too, Hiccup." Stoick was glad Hiccup didn't realize Valka wasn't present; he had a feeling that wouldn't have gone over well. Toothless cooed at Hiccup and curled up around him, being careful to not disturb Mr. Fiddlesticks.
Gobber had finally finished Hiccups new leg and Toothless's whole getup. A new leather saddle, a lighter, more sturdy tail fin, and one new metal and wood leg. Making it all had taken longer than expected, but he blamed that mostly on Ruffnut and Tuffnut.
They had figured out how to make their Zippleback spew gas into a house or other structure and then light it, resulting in a building blown to smithereens. So Gobber had to make new nails, new weapons, new silver ware, basically everything made of metal for each house that was destroyed. Gobber didn't have his apprentice, so everything went much slower.
Gobber decided to bring Hiccup's prosthetic leg to the Haddock house so he could start getting used to it. What he found was Stoick wearing an expression that could only be referred to as dumbstruck. He was simply sitting there, holding Hiccup's hand, and staring at Hiccup's pale face. Mr. Fiddlesticks had climbed up onto his lap and was purring loudly, but Stoick didn't even notice.
"Good afternoon Stoick! How's your day been?" Gobber tried his best to break the ice, but that really just wasn't his strong suit.
"He woke up," Stoick said, not even looking at Gobber.
"Ah, that's nice. Gothi said that when he starts waking up he'll be up and running soon." Stoick nodded and looked back down at Hiccup, as if expecting him to suddenly start moving again. Gobber sat down on a rogue chair at the door of Hiccup's bed. He pulled up the blankets, simultaneously unveiling the new leg. He tied it onto Hiccup's left leg with a small, thin rope. Toothless watched the whole time, making sure Gobber didn't hurt his human.
"There. Now he can start getting used to it."
Stoick pulled Valka into a hug the moment she landed Cloudjumper. They talked a little about the trip and sorted out Valka's belongings, and Stoick brought out some of Valka's stuff from when she had previously lived on Berk. The couple also took a walk, leaving Gobber to watch Hiccup.
It was a common practice in Berk to take off any wedding wings or meaningful jewelry at the first sign of a dragon attack, in case something tragic happened. The day Cloudjumper took her, Valka had not been wearing her wedding ring. While Valka was gone Stoick had found the ring and took it back out of storage. Now, as they were in a beautiful spot in the woods near a waterfall, Stoick made his move.
"Val, will you be my wife again? Even after the way I've treated our son?" Stoick asked, getting down on one knee and holding out the ring.
"Yes! After all, Hiccup would want two happy, married parents," Valka nearly yelled, leaning in to kiss Stoick right on the lips. No one else was around, not even Cloudjumper, who was currently enjoying his now-finished shack. Or so they thought.
Beady, gray eyes watched the scene unfold. An unexposed resource had informed this man that Hiccup Haddock of Berk had trained a dragon and was currently in a coma, and that the long lost Valka had been find. This man decided to come see for himself, and make a plan of how to capture the dragon-boy.
Eńska translates to the word English. Who do you think this man is? Review or PM me if you think you know! Okay, I know you guys are so tired of these no action, pretty much filler chapters without our favorite dragon rider. Not to fear, this is the last chapter with Hiccup in a coma! (Your cue to get real happy) Please review! Thank you to the four people who have reviewed and those who have favorited and followed this story!
Remember, this is the last update for a while. I have way too many ideas for my Httyd and RotG crossover, I'm already forgetting them. Plus my practice schedule got changed so now I don't get home until nine pm at least three times a week (competitive gymnast, fun stuff) If you actually care I'll tell you about the stuff we do or meets via PM
