We are not near the end yet, but I will be updating a bit quicker. so enjoy and please feel free to comment or PM me. I'm not someone who holds chapters hostage for a certain numbers of reviews, but I do enjoy then when I get them
Harley was beyond frustrated. While she was genuinely enjoying her time with Bruce, but he hadn't spoke about Tessa once. On top of that, Joker knew about them and seemed...Happy? She rubbed her temples in small circular motions. She just needed to get her hands on that girl and her bastard child. Was that so much to ask for?
When they had first started to fool around Bruce had insisted that Harley knew he was not about to be a father. Harley really, truly hoped the baby was some random Gothamite, but had a sick strange feeling that the tart had gotten her hands on Joker. Again. Harley wasn't opposed to children, she just couldn't have any excess baggage hanging around as she seduced Joker into falling madly in love with her.
At first she had just planned on killing Tessa, while she was pregnant. Easy enough. The small sliver that was left of her conscience ate at her until she had decided to let the baby live. It would all work out for the best, she would kill Tessa and drop her brat off at a hospital anonymously. They wouldn't have any trouble finding a home for a baby. Everyone loved babies.
That gave an entire new set of problems. Harley would have to hold Tessa hostage until she gave birth naturally, then enact her plans for revenge. Honestly that seemed like a lot of extra work. The easier way would be getting her when she was far enough along that the baby would be viable and cutting it out of her. Sure it would be a bit messy, but Harley was not squeamish. The only difficult part of that plan was figuring how far along she was, and how long she had to wait. Oh and getting near her.
Once that was all finished, she would be able to make her move on Joker, knowing he had no ties to anyone else. There went her twang of conscience. Bruce. She kind of liked him. He wasn't a bad guy. He was decent enough on bed and was rich to boot. If she hadn't already fallen in love with Joker, she could see herself with Bruce. And that was what had her so miffed. She was fucking Bruce Wayne and not Joker. It was all Tessa's fault.
If the bitch had just stayed dead, Joker would be hers. She was sure that she could be happy with him, if she had the chance. She reached up and gripped her hair by the roots and tugged gently to relieve the start of what was sure to be a huge tension headache. She took a deep breath. She looked over at the clock on her wall, checking the time. She had 15 minutes left of her day and decided to skip out early. She had a date tonight with Bruce and was determined to get a few answers from him. Whatever it would take.
She gathered her things and headed out to her car. No one questioned her for her early departure. She smiled as she walked through the parking area to her car. The drive home was smooth. It was amazing what leaving a few minutes earlier than normal could do to improve the flow of traffic in the city. She pulled into her parking space and headed straight up to her apartment. She showered and took her time fixing her hair and makeup. She wanted to look irresistible.
She picked a somewhat modest red dress pairing it with shiny black heels. She checked her small gold watch and smiled. She had just enough time to get to the restaurant and meet Bruce for dinner. She hurried down to her car and sped through the city to the much nicer part of Gotham. She checked her car with the valet and headed inside. The hostess looked up at her.
"Can I help you?"
Harley smiled. "I'm meeting Mr. Wayne."
The girl smiled at her. "Right this way, he has already arrived."
Harley followed the girl and sat at the table across from Bruce. He must have been deep in thought, he startled as she spoke. "Bruce?"
He looked up at her. "Harley, I'm sorry my mind was a million miles away." he reached across the table and took her hand. "You look amazing."
She smiled. "Thank you."
She fought to keep her smile on her face. Bruce really was a great guy, but her heart belonged to Joker. This was business, she had to treat it that way. "How was work today?" she asked.
He smiled. "It was good. The usual boring stuff."
She looked at him. He was looking like that wasn't the complete truth. The waiter showed up to take their orders so Harley let it drop for now. Once the waiter had left, Harley pounced.
"You seem like something is bothering you. You can talk to me, I am a licensed psychiatrist." she squeezed his hand.
He looked at her, his eyes dark. She almost started to feel uncomfortably when he let out a large sigh. "I just got some disturbing news from a friend."
"Oh, that's never good. Do you want to talk about it? Sometimes it helps."
He took a large sip of his drink, "It's the friend I was pictured with a while back, the pregnant one."
She nodded. This could be it. Any new info would help tremendously.
"She called today to check up on me. I had been so busy with work and you." he flashed her a look that made her blush slightly. "I hadn't spoken to her since just before the fundraiser gala."
"That seems like a good thing." she looked back at him trying to convey confusion.
"It was. I told her everything was fine, that I had met someone and had just been busy." Harley felt her stomach tighten. Had he told Tessa who he was seeing? That could be bad.
"She then told me her boyfriend asked her not to be friends with me." He looked down. "I know it sounds stupid, but I am protective of her. She was in a bad place and I helped her get back on her feet. He wasn't there for her. She just chose him over me that easily. I think I just am feeling sorry for myself."
Harley nodded trying to hold in her anger. She would have so much fun torturing Tessa.
"Those are perfectly normal feelings. Is he the father of her baby?"
"Yea."
"So no rich uncle Bruce?"
He chuckled. "Nope."
"Well, there is still time before she has it right?"
"Yea, she's due in the beginning of February."
BINGO! she had a timeline. The waiter arrived with their food. They ate in a comfortable silence. When they were done eating, Bruce walked her out of the restaurant. They waited at the valet for their cars to be brought around.
"Follow me to my place?" he asked.
She looked over at him, he had given her the information she needed. The valet pulled up with their cars his in front of hers. She nodded and hurried over to get in her car. She had decided to reward him generously.
