Skrull Invasion
The quinjet flies into Wakanda with the heroes and their loved ones.
"Cap, we're getting a transmission from King T'Challa." Captain Marvel said.
"Patch it through." Captain America said.
The screen shows King T'Challa.
"Your highness." Captain America said.
"Captain Rogers, what brings you back to Wakanda?" T'Challa said.
"We need sanctuary, I sorry if we're asking too much but we have nowhere else to go." Captain America said.
"Very well... we're about to lower the shields, land on the private pad near the palace." T'Challa said.
The quinjet sees the shields opening for it to enter. It flies into the city and towards the palace.
King T'Challa and the Dora Milaje awaits at the pad, they watch as the quinjet lands.
They see the heroes walking out with their loved ones, Spider-Man is carrying an unconscious Aunt May. Captain America went to greet T'Challa.
"Thank you for offering us sanctuary." Captain America said.
"Of course, as I said you're alway welcome here in Wakanda." T'Challa said.
"Good... because we got a lot to catch up on and time is short." Captain America said.
In the Skrull flagship, General Kl'rt came before Queen Veranke.
"My queen, the facility that we've taken control has come under attack, the heroes rescued the hostages." Kl'rt said.
"No matter, now that they've run off scared. We can initiate the next phase of our plan. What is the status of the fleet?" Veranke said.
"They're already underway, they should arrived in Earth's orbit within the hour." Kl'rt said.
"Good, now is the time to strike, now we shall take what is ours. The Skrull invasion shall begin!" Veranke said.
At the royal palace in Wakanda, Peter came in as the heroes are about to began the briefing.
"How is your aunt?" Steve said.
"She's fine, still sedated. Mary Jane is taking care of her." Peter said.
"That's good to know, now we need to focus at the matter at hand. The Skrulls launched their preemptive strike against us, we can assume that they're already preparing for an attack." Steve said.
"They still want Earth, they'll never back down from their queen's wishes. She will attack and kill anyone who resist her will." Carol said.
T'Challa's kimoyo beads rang, it's Shuri.
"What is it Shuri?" T'Challa said.
"Brother, we've picked up something in orbit." Shuri said.
"Activate the satellites and shows us the live view." T'Challa said.
T'Challa and the heroes watch the holographic screen of space, they see the Skrull flagship.
"That's a Skrull battle cruiser." Carol said.
"Wait! Look!" Bruce said.
They see multiple warships jump out of hyperspace, numerous ships.
"My god, there's so many." Steve said.
"It's finally happening, the Skrull invasion has begun." Carol said.
The Skrulls managed to hack the broadcast signals all over the world as Queen Veranke makes her statement.
"People of the planet Earth, I am Queen Veranke, ruler of the Skrull Empire. You are not alone in the universe. We have come to claim this world as our own, we have no desire to kill any of you as long as you obey our laws." Veranke said.
The image now shows a live broadcast of the helicarrier.
"What you see is live, this is the helicarrier run by an organization that protects this world called S.H.I.E.L.D., they sent in Earth's Mightiest Heroes to challenge us, but they failed as the heroes are now hiding like cowards. Let this be an example of their failure." Veranke said.
The flagship began to charge its super laser as it fires down towards the helicarrier, the whole world watched as it was destroyed, S.H.I.E.L.D. is no more.
"Now you seen what we're capable of, no one can protect you. Submit to our rule or die. The Reign of the Skrull Empire begins now!" Veranke said.
The Skrull fleet deploy drop ships towards the United States.
The citizens of New York City watched as the Skrull ships and fighters fly around. The drop ships deployed Skrull troops and tanks.
They begin to March the streets as every citizen looked with fear.
A ship came in landed on pad of Stark Tower, Queen Veranke and General Kl'rt came out.
"What's the status General?" Veranke said.
"The city is secured, no one has opposed us." Kl'rt said.
"Good, if they do, make examples and execute them." Veranke said.
"Yes my queen." Kl'rt said.
"This building shall be my new throne, the view here is perfect." Veranke said.
The Skrulls took control of Stark Tower and has taken New York City.
In Wakanda, the heroes couldn't believe that S.H.I.E.L.D. has been destroyed.
"Can't be, S.H.I.E.L.D., Fury, Coulson, Romanoff and Barton, all gone." Maria Hill said.
"Well that's the reality." Tony said.
"Could you not be so negative Tony!" Steve said.
"I'm not, I'm being realistic! They've killed Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D., we're outnumbered and outmatched! They've got the whole planet shaking in fear. Face it Cap, we've lost!" Tony said.
"I don't believe this!" Steve said.
"We tried to make things right but instead we've made things worse!" Tony said.
"I don't believe it!" Peter said.
"I'm sorry kid, but it's over... it's over." Tony said.
Everyone has lost hope, they've given up. Steve asked out of the room as Sharon follows him.
Steve arrived at the room he is staying, he turns around and see Sharon.
"Sharon? What are you doing here?" Steve said.
"I wanted to check up on you, see if you're alright." Sharon said.
"I wish that were so, but the truth is that we've failed." Steve said.
"Can't believe that you're saying this." Sharon said.
"I've fought in the darkest hour of World War II, I've managed to save so many lives at the cost of my own. But this is unlike anything I've ever face before. I feel like I don't belong here, in this modern world that not my time. There is nothing here for me." Steve said.
"That's not true, you're here and you have something." Sharon said.
"What is it I have? Please... tell me." Steve said.
"You have... me." Sharon said.
Sharon placed her hand on his cheek as they look into each other's eyes. She leaned in and kissed Steve. His heart started beeping as he still kissed her.
They broke off the kiss and looked at each other.
"What was that for?" Steve said.
"No idea." Sharon said.
They got back to kissing each other as they entered the room and closed the door behind them.
Peter arrived at the room to see May still asleep with Mary Jane looking after her.
"Hey MJ. How is she?" Peter said.
"Still sleeping like a baby, Tiger." Mary Jane smiled.
Mary Jane could see that Peter isn't smiling.
"What's wrong Tiger?" Mary Jane said.
"This is all my fault." Peter said.
"Peter, don't you say that!" Mary Jane said.
"It's true, I tried my best to protect you both from this life and I've failed. All I've done is nothing but cause trouble for everyone. I think that is better that I stop being Spider-Man." Peter said.
"I don't believe that! I know that you don't believe that! You're the guy who goes around and saves lives no matter what challenges you face. Doctor Octopus... Sandman... Scorpion... Kraven... The Lizard... Venom... every one of them tried to hurt someone, you've always to find a way to stop them! You'll find a way to save everyone!" Mary Jane yelled.
"Mary Jane, I can't!" Peter replied.
"Yes you can! Because I believe in you! Because you gave everyone something they've always wanted... hope. You gave everyone hope when you first became Spider-Man, gave them something to believe in. You can do that again." Mary Jane said.
"You really believe in me?" Peter said.
"I believe in the man I love." Mary Jane said.
Mary Jane grabbed Peter hand, she and Peter kissed each other. May opened her eyes a bit and smiled. She then closes her eyes and sleeps.
Bruce is resting in the room until he woke up from a knock.
"Come in!" Bruce said.
Betty Ross opened as comes inside.
"Betty?" Bruce said.
"Bruce, I wanted to check up on you to see if you're alright." Betty said.
"Well I'm calm and not turning green if that's what you're worried about." Bruce smiled.
"No... this is the first time you're not stressed." Betty said.
"Maybe because I've finally decided to give up everything, including the Hulk." Bruce said.
"Just like that." Betty said.
"Ever since the Hulk came into my life, I felt like I was losing everything in life." Bruce said.
"You've never lost me." Betty said.
"I know... but your father and everyone else sees me as a monster." Bruce said.
"I never saw you as a monster, I just think that you were misunderstood. People always fear what they don't understand. The Hulk isn't a monster, he's a part of you, maybe the best part. Sure the Hulk is strong and invincible, but Bruce Banner is the smartest man I've ever met, the man I've fallen in love with." Betty said.
Bruce felt better as he and Betty kissed each other.
Jane went to the dining hall and see Thor drowning in the food and the drinks.
"I figured that Thor Odinson might be here for lunch." Jane smiled.
"Ahh, there's nothing to do but drown my sorrows in alcohol and yet I could never get drunk enough." Thor said.
"You want to tell me what's bothering you?" Jane said.
"My father is right, I should've left this world when I had the chance, this is a battle that I cannot win. I was foolish to think that I could stop it." Thor said.
"I don't think that it's foolish, I think that it's noble of you." Jane said.
"Why do you say that?" Thor said.
"Because you have heart, you chose to defy your father to do what's right. You chose to stay here and be a hero. You're a great man, Thor." Jane said.
Thor smiled at Jane's words as she has a way to cheer him up.
Tony is in the lab as he uses the tools to fix the armor that has been a bit damaged during the fight against the Skrulls.
"You still let yourself be distracted by fixing your armor." Pepper said.
"Helps me distress from a bad day." Tony said.
"You've given up?" Pepper said.
"Yep!" Tony said.
"Usually you figure out a way out of a mess." Pepper said.
"The time I was captured by the Ten Rings, I was a different person who let his life go to waste by partying and sleeping with women. I thought I was going to die that day. Yinsen saved me and showed me that I had much to offer to everyone. I built my first armor with his help, I was able to escape that hell we've both been trapped in. He gave his life so that could live and be the man he'd always hoped that I can be." Tony said.
"He's right, you've changed a lot Tony, you've changed a lot from that immature womanizer to a great man. I know that you'll find a way to fix this, you always do." Pepper said.
Tony smiled. "You know that I'm lucky to have you in my life, always."
"What would you do without me?" Pepper said.
"Probably gambling in a casino with a couple of hot models in my arms." Tony jokes.
"And there's the immature womanizer." Pepper smiled.
Tony and Pepper laughed at the joke. Tony is lucky to have Pepper Potts in his life, she was a long time friend but she became so much more.
Carol is alone in the living quarters of the palace as Peter came in after he left Mary Jane to take care of May.
"How is your aunt?" Carol said.
"She's sleeping like a baby, but fine." Peter said.
"That's good, by the way you got some lipstick on your lower lip." Carol said.
Peter looked at the mirror and see a mark on his lip from the kiss he got from Mary Jane. He wiped it off.
"Thanks... I've notice that we've rescued everyone close to the heroes, but not you." Peter said.
"I don't have anyone, my mother died when I was twelve, my brother died a year later after he enlisted, my father died a couple years ago." Carol said.
"I'm sorry." Peter said.
"I've wanted his approval, wanted him to be proud of me, but he never did. I think that what hurts the most, thinking that he died hating me, I tried to do better but feels like it's..." Carol said.
"Never enough... I know how that feels. My uncle died because of me, because I chose to do nothing. That's one of the reasons I've became Spider-Man, a part of me wanted to honor him by doing good. Sometimes there a part of me that felt that I've never atoned for my mistakes." Peter said.
"You have, you're a great hero. If he were here right now, I know that he'd be so proud of you." Carol said.
"Thank you, and I'm sorry that you don't have anyone left in your life." Peter said.
"Being with you makes me feel like I have a brother, being with the team felt like I have a family." Carol said.
"We are a family, each of us are a perfect match." Peter said.
"We sure are." Tony said.
Peter and Carol sees Tony, Bruce, and Thor.
"You all want to join the club? By all means." Peter said.
"We missing one. Where's Steve?" Bruce said.
They then see Steve Rogers coming in later.
"Where were you?" Tony said.
"Oh!... uh... I was... chatting with Sharon." Steve said.
"Really?" Tony said.
"Yeah... really." Steve said.
Tony could see a glow in Steve's eyes, he could tell that he and Sharon did more than just 'chat'.
"So anyone want to catch me up to speed?" Steve said.
"Right... we talked about how this team is a family. I know that each of us came from different backgrounds. But the one thing we all have in common is that we're heroes." Peter said.
"Some heroes we are, we can't stop an invasion, we couldn't even save Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D." Tony said.
"What did Fury die for? What did S.H.I.E.L.D. stand for? He didn't go to all that trouble of putting all of us together for us to simply give up." Carol said.
"Each of us has been brought together so that we can become a team that can fight the battles others could not." Steve said.
"We can't save everyone we've lost." Tony said.
"No... but we can honor them by avenging them. We cannot let all their deaths be for nothing. We keep on fighting until we either win or die fighting. Because that's what we do, it's who we are, we're avengers. As long as we're still here, there's still hope." Peter said.
Everyone smiled at Peter's words.
"Aye! Your words have inspired me Man of Spiders." Thor said.
"It sure has, I'm in." Steve said.
"Me too." Carol said.
"I'm with you." Bruce said.
"You saved my life once, can't let you go into battle without me. I'm with you till the end." Tony smiled.
"Then we all agree, the fight is not over. There's still hope, they've taken this world, now is the time to strike back. Let's suit up!" Steve said.
Steve left the room as they've noticed a glow in his eyes.
"He seemed confident than ever?" Carol said.
"Probably Sharon had something to do with it." Tony said.
"Meaning?" Carol said.
"Oh come on, you can't see it. Alone... in the room... for hours." Tony said.
"Oh my!... They had sex?" Carol said.
Tony nods his head smiling.
Steve put on his costume and armed his shield.
Tony has his armor fixed and ready for battle.
Thor picked up Mjolnir and charges it up.
Peter donned on his costume as Mary Jane came in.
"You're leaving aren't you?" Mary Jane said.
"I have to, there's still a chance that we can free this world, we need to take it." Peter said.
"I know you better, you can't walk away from this." Mary Jane said.
"It's who I am." Peter said.
"Promise me you'll fight to come back to me." Mary Jane said.
"I will, I promise. After all, you're my jackpot." Peter smiled.
Peter and Mary Jane kissed before he left.
The heroes all donned on their costumes as they walk out of the palace towards the quinjet.
"Thank you T'Challa for offering us sanctuary." Steve said.
"You've helped save my country, I am forever in your debt." T'Challa said.
"Are you sure that you won't join us for this?" Steve said.
"If war come to Wakanda again, I need to be ready to lead my people into battle." T'Challa said.
"I understand. Will you keep our loved ones save?" Steve said.
"No harm shall come to them, I give you my word." T'Challa said.
Steve and T'Challa shake hands.
"Thank you." Steve said.
"Good luck Captain Rogers. May Vast be with you." T'Challa said.
"Vast?" Steve said.
"Oh!... sorry, habits." T'Challa said.
Steve boarded the quinjet at the ramp closes. Carol is at the controls.
"Everyone ready?" Carol said.
"Ready!"
"We're taking off!" Carol said.
The quinjet takes off and flies out of the city as T'Challa and heroes' friends watch. The quinjet left the city and flies towards New York, towards battle.
