She hated Sato Aika.
"Oh, Toshi," That brown-haired bitch would say, "You just look so good in blue! It really brings out your eyes!" Or:
"Toshi! You were amazing in class today! I always knew you were smart—you have to be part of the top ten this year!"
God, Himeko just wanted her to shut up. All day she had to deal with this girl go on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on about Toshi. Aika would talk about how great he looked in his suit, how his hair looked exceptionally amazing (every) that day, how his smile seemed to brighten up the 'dark gloom that rested over their classroom'. Of course, nobody in class dared to disagree with her because, well, because she wasn't really wrong.
Not that Himeko would ever admit that aloud.
But, to the deities above, all Himeko wanted was one class where she didn't have to listen to a gossip circle; and, despite the deep hatred that rested inside her, Himeko couldn't help but wonder if part of the hatred stemmed from the fact that this girl reminded her so much of the life she lost. Back in high school, when the world was normal and made sense, Himeko would laugh with her friends as they talked about something stupid a cute guy, or girl, did in class that day. It felt like home—it felt familiar.
It also reminded her of that weird circle group that she saw in an episode of Anne with an E—great show, by the way, she wished they had it in this world.
"Why are you frowning so much today?" Mai, her newfound friend, asked her with worry. The two met earlier in the school year, a few weeks after Himeko's…unfortunate interaction with Enji. Strangely enough, the two girls quirks worked exceptionally well together…in a way that Himeko hadn't expected in the slightest. Mai was smart, though, and without Himeko having to say a word, followed the area her gaze refused to leave. A look of understanding crossed her face, "If you glare any harder at Aika, she's going to explode."
"No, she won't." Himeko sighed, sounding a bit too disappointed, "If anything, she'll just run to Toshi in the hopes that he'd protect her."
Mai laughed at this, for whatever reason Himeko couldn't understand.
"Yeah," She snickered, "Sure he will. Right after he checks on you first."
Rolling her eyes, Himeko wiggled her fingers at the poison ivy that was sprouting from the cracks in the concrete. She really didn't want to have another lecture from Toshi. Plus, Gran Torino was going to make her training a thousand times worse if he heard she 'accidentally' used her quirk on a fellow classmate. Not that Himeko could always help it—it was what made her more dangerous, it was why her training was stricter.
Controlling plants—controlling the green life around her—wasn't an easy feat. Ever since she was a child, Himeko had to watch what she was doing. She had to make sure her emotions were in check. With the slightest slip of control, with the smallest falter, Himeko could easily kill someone. It's why she was so upset with her scores after the exam.
It's because as easily Himeko could become a Hero, she could become a Villain.
Which fucking sucked.
Like, damn, she already had to die and be born in a world she didn't know exceptionally well and before canon. Plus, she became friends with the only person insane enough to take on whatever his name was…
Like, Might All? Or something.
"It doesn't matter," The words slipped from her lips without her even realizing it, "I'm gonna in the end."
She didn't bother to look at Mai after that.
Thank you everyone for your kind reviews, and all the follows and faves. Like, holy cow, I AM SHOOK NO LIE GODAMN!
Instead of answering your reviews in the chapter, i think I'm going to now personally DM you all because a) these chapters aren't that long and i feel like i'm playin y'all by adding the reviews and making the chapters look longer than they are and b) I really feel like you deserve a direct response. You send so much love that, well, i should respond with such :) However, for guests, i will respond here because I SEE YOU, I HEAR YOU, AND I LOVE YOU!
hinatayvonne made a comment about wanting Himeko to become a villain, and respect, so i'm playing with the idea of doing a one shot with her as a villain and being around 1k or more. I'm not sure yet.
guest (big homie kay): (love the name, it made me laugh!) YES IT IS ISN"T IT! himeko's like 'what are these feels? make them go... but not really. Thank you so much! I've been working on my writing technique so it's nice to hear that there's been a change! And i'd love to hear your puns! when you remember them, that is, haha! I love the two flowers, i googled their meanings after i read your review and was like damn, you're right... i may also be thinking of using something similar as her hero name (but i really love Gaia a lot, thank you for the ideas!) hehe...the percy Jackson story... i want to update it, but i'm struggling to find motivation just because... this is gonna sound so selfish but I don't mean it to come across like that, the story doesn't get that many reviews and it really makes me not wanna write it. However, i will try my best to update it at least once in 2021! Stay safe as well!
ps. a really sweet friend of mine, and a really kind reviewer, GracieAReviews wrote and published her first fic a few months ago (better late than ever I say!) so if any of y'all would like a nice, sweet fred weasley/oc fit that's a slowburn and makes you wanna cuddle up with a cup of tea to read, please check hers out!
Stay safe,
ana
pps. i'm hoping for a much longer chapter next time ;)
