Chapter Seven: Training for the Flying Thunder God Jutsu
What you're about to learn is gonna change everything for you. It'll give you an edge most shinobi are never gonna be able to match. Only one person has ever used this jutsu.
Who?
I'll tell you here in a bit. But you need to go to a weapons store and buy these items. Get something to write with and put these down.
Naruto did as the kyuubi said, and prepared himself for the list, although part of him already knew his poor, poor wallet was gonna hate him after this. Okay, hit me with it.
Buy a katana with the blade being fifty centimeters long, ankle weights, wrist weights, and a weighted vest which can increase in weight with chakra. Buy about one hundred three pronged kunai with an area on the handle where you can place a seal around. It should be around twenty centimeters in girth to allow for the seal. Also get some sealing paper and ink as well as a small brush.
Uh... that's a lot, and do you think I'm rich? I'm an orphan... I CAN'T AFFORD ALL THAT! Naruto cried out in his mind, earning a laugh from the fox.
No you fool. This won't cost you more than the money you spend a week on food alone, and considering you only buy ramen... I think you'll be able to get by. Just don't pig out on it.
But... it's so good.
THAT IS AN ORDER. ONE BOWL OF RAMEN PER MEAL. ACTUALLY NO, YOU WILL EAT RAMEN ONCE A DAY, MAX.
NOOOOOOOOOO! Naruto screamed in his head, falling to his knees and holding his arms out.
You're dramatic. Let's get moving.
Naruto went to the nearest weapon store and spotted a girl he recognized from the academy.
"Hey Tenten." he greeted, happy to see a familiar face, and not having to talk to the rude demon fox.
"Oh, hey Naruto. What are you doing here? I've never seen you come here before." Tenten asked, surprised to even see Naruto. If it wasn't in the Academy and now the very rare chase through the village following one of his pranks, Naruto did tend to make himself scarce. She was wearing a pink sleeveless blouse and dark green pants with her hair up in two buns, and Naruto couldn't help but notice she was a little taller than him. Sitting in those seats really did not give him any inclination at her height.
Tenten noticed the new attire he was wearing and mentally noted it looked so much better than that tacky orange jumper. "I've been thinking about increasing my training. I know for a fact that I generally didn't study enough or practice enough, so I figured I'd get ahead of the situation before orientation."
"Oh, really?" she asked, surprised. Of course Tenten knew that Naruto's dream was to become the Hokage, you can only hear 'I'm going to be the Hokage someday, believe it!' so many times before it's etched into the back of your mind, but to actually see the renowned slacker taking the initiative, it was refreshing to see. She knew Naruto had been stepping up in class towards the end of the year and that was why he was in the top three, but he still had a ways to go. "I'm glad to hear it. Love the new outfit by the way."
Naruto gave a bright grin to her, grabbing the jacket and puffing his chest out jokingly. "I know, I make this look goood."
Tenten laughed at his antics before becoming serious. "Anyway, what do you need?"
Naruto handed her the list and she got to work on it collecting the orders. The kunai order was almost a problem, but her father had the time to get all of them finished today, so he'd be able to have them by the end of business this evening.
"Alright, I'll be back this evening then." Naruto said after paying, practically feeling his wallet crying from the money being withdrawn.
Naruto followed the fox's instructions, walking to this old training ground nobody used with lots of trees and a small stream nearby.
The fox instructed him to use this as his own personal training ground. The weights were placed underneath his clothes, and boy was Naruto noticing the difference. With the ankle and wrist weights they were ten pounds while the vest was forty, Naruto did standard exercises such as push-ups, crunches, lunges, squats, calf raises, log punches and kicks. Naruto knew his chakra control was abysmal to put it lightly, so he tried to come up with a way to make sure he got it under better control.
Doing it on your own is gonna take longer. Do you know the potential shadow clones have for you?
Not really. I mean, when I dispel my clones I generally am able to have their memories, why?
What comes with memories?
Oh... experience. Holy crap, I get what you're saying.
Naruto created a couple of clones and looked at the trees. He had done his studying and knew that chakra control in the feet was the hardest part of the body to control, so if he could learn to control it in his feet, his chakra control would get better, theoretically.
Naruto fought to learn how to climb trees and walk on water using chakra, and he was able to make it across the stream but not the entirety of the tree. When his clones dispelled their experiences came back to him and Naruto began learning from his mistakes. One clone had put too much chakra and it broke the bark beneath his feet and sent him flying off while another had put too little and couldn't even take a step up the tree. Naruto gasped from the weights restraining him and tried again using five more clones. Each time they dispelled he was a bit better, although his progress was far too slow. He was only able to make it halfway up the tree by the time the fox deemed it time to stop.
From there Naruto went about his normal taijutsu routine, and worked on his kunai skills. He wasn't able to catch it with one finger yet, but he was getting there slowly but surely.
"AH!" Naruto groaned as one of his clones threw a kunai to him, and in his attempt to catch it cut his hand. He clenched his bloody fist tightly and took in a deep breath, throwing it back with terrifying speed at his clone. His clone managed to catch it, laughing at him.
"You really couldn't catch that?! COME ON!" Clone Naruto mocked while the real Naruto growled.
"Do you have to mock me?"
"Yeah."
"Fair enough." Naruto sighed, as the clone threw it back at him, and this time Naruto caught it and sent it flying back with all of his strength and blasted his clone right in the chest, dispelling him. "Ow," Naruto groaned, rubbing his chest where the kunai had struck his clone.
It was almost evening by the time Naruto reached his time with his katana finally. He familiarized himself with it, performing diagonal, vertical, and horizontal slashes as the Kyuubi guided his form.
It was killing him by this point to keep going, but the Fox thought he still had some stamina left in him and Naruto did as he said. By the time he was done, Naruto was drenched in sweat, having taken his jacket off and was covered in scratches and dirt from his training. He noticed the time and decided to go pick up his kunai order.
After everything he went home and began working on calligraphy, since this jutsu the Kyuubi wanted him to learn required proper writing for the seal.
Sitting there Naruto was too focused writing that he didn't notice the Hokage peering through the doorway, having stopped by to check in on him.
He's working hard, and from what I was told by Ben earlier today, their training with the Omnitrix won't start until tomorrow after Naruto takes his identification photo. Wonder what's got him going suddenly? Could it be the Nine Tails in him? Hmm...
He left Naruto to his business, not bothering him, silently leaving behind a meal, having heard that Naruto made a rather large purchase today.
Naruto after a few minutes caught a delicious scent and turned to find a bag of food sitting on the table by the door. Had someone been here? He must have not noticed, whoever it was he owed an apology for ignoring them.
He walked over and saw it was chicken stir fry. Naruto ate it all, finding it filling and delicious. He might have just found it filling because it was the only other meal he had ate today besides his breakfast with Ben this morning.
After a little more writing, Naruto let out a long drawn yawn and decided it was time for bed. He took a shower, washed his clothes and got into bed.
Night, Kyuubi.
Goodnight, kit. You did well today.
There was a lot of time left until he had to take his identification photo, and Naruto was surprised that Ben had stopped by to have breakfast with him again. Afterward Ben said he would see Naruto after the photo was taken, and left Naruto to go meet with Azmuth, as he put it "they needed to work something out that came up last minute."
Naruto was fine with that, because he still had to do some more work on his calligraphy and find out why this jutsu the Kyuubi was having him learn was so powerful.
Hey, Kyuubi. What exactly is so special about this jutsu?
It's the Flying Thunder God. The one you copied out of the forbidden scroll. It belonged to the Fourth Hokage. Using it allowed him to throw a kunai to a specific location and via the seal he was able to teleport there. They called him the Yellow Flash for this reason as he moved faster than any shinobi could. It was a technique he developed himself. Only he knew how to use this jutsu, until now.
Naruto couldn't believe it, he'd be able to use the Fourth Hokage's own jutsu. He knew he had copied it down and the Kyuubi had mentioned it the other night but he really let it slip his mind with everything that had gone on.
He was thinking about the possibilities with his clones and how this jutsu could be applied to them, but then a more mischievous idea came across his mind. It was his special transformation jutsu that he used on rare occasion. He called it his "Sexy Jutsu," and he hadn't even thought about it being involved with his shadow clones until now. Oh, he could totally use that in some way, but it'd have to be in the right moment.
If he could avoid fighting someone by using an upgraded sexy jutsu... perhaps that would be preferable. Hmm, it'd certainly give him a unique and diverse ability list.
The Fox silently thought to himself to where even Naruto couldn't hear him. I'd tell him who his father is, but... another time.
A little more time passed and Naruto decided to stop what he was doing and go get his photo taken, eagerly awaiting the idea of being able to use the Omnitrix finally.
