Hey so.. last time I posted this it messed up. It happens to me a lot does anyone know a solution?
anyhow in my last attempt at posting this i wrote a paragraph on it about time line stuff and I cannot be bothered re typing so basically IDK its been a long time since I read the books and I honestly have forgotten what order things happen hahah just go with it.
People had parted around him as if they were scared to get to close. His presence was deafening.
It took me a second to get over the initial shock and to calm my heart beat down. A feeling I wasn't expecting bubbled inside of me. I was angry, who does he think he is showing up here. He is undoubtedly going to make me feel guilty for abandoning my post as a guardian. He looked up and caught my eye. Oh well, looks like I have to get this over with.
I walked up to him. On my way over I noted he had my car, not my crappy rental, my actual car. The very fast sports one. I got giddy looking at it.
"I see you have my car" Was the first thing I said to him. I wasn't going to say hi and in no way would I ask how he's been.
"What are you doing her Rose?" He said, gesturing to the school.
"Funny" I said sarcastically "I was about to ask the same thing".
He showed no emotion, he was 100% in guardian mode. If that's how he wanted to play it I could do the exact same "Belikov why did you come? To drop off my car?" I asked exasperated.
"Lissa," He started. I sighed, it was always Lissa, venom seeped into my eyes. I was wishing he would say he loved me, that he missed me and made a mistake. But all I got was the Lissa excuse. It made my blood boil, after everything I did for him, he couldn't even be honest? "She asked me to come see how you were doing" He finished.
"Oh" I said "Her royal highness couldn't be bothered getting off her ass and calling?" So much for years of friendship.
"Rose you are being childish" Dimitri scolded.
My mouth hung open; I couldn't believe him. "I'm being childish? Really?" I said raising my voice. The crowd of people had begun to grow. Great now people will probably think I'm involved in some shady Russian mob or something.
Dimitris eyes flicked away from me past my shoulder. They focused on something in the distanced. I turned my head to look in the direction he was. The Cullen's were standing very defensively around a silver Volvo. In the shock of seeing him I had forgotten about the Cullen's. I turned back to Dimitri; he was already reaching for his stake. I caught his hand stopping him in the action. "Dimitri" I said quietly wary of and heightened hearing the Cullen's might have "Not Strigoi" I muttered.
He fought against my hand but I would not let him get that stake. Dimitri wasn't listening to me, his eyes where still burning into the Cullen's. I did they only thing I could think of… I flipped him.
In a matter of moments, I had him on his back. I could hear kids mummering in the background. It's not every day you see a girl flip over a Russian giant. So much for blending in and living in the background.
"Not funny Rose" Dimitri said getting up off the ground.
"You're not thinking" I told him in a low voice "Five of them, two of us, this many humans around. What do you expect would happen?"
"We've taken on more" He said. He wasn't wrong, we made a deadly pair.
"Look where that got us" I countered referring to our last battle, which ended in Dimitri turning. "They aren't even Strigoi, these people aren't in danger" I said.
"Just go Dimitri, leave my car here, get into that rental and go back to the court. I don't need you here" I said pushing the rental keys into his hand. I turned to walk away from him and spotted Jacob a few meters away.
"Rosa.." I heard him mutter as I turned around. It felt like a stake had pierced my heart. I didn't turn back around. I couldn't.
"I was about to ask If you needed help" Jacob started "but it looks like you've got things covered" he said impressed.
"I've got my tricks" I joked.
"Now I feel less bad that you handed me my ass on a plater yesterday" I laughed half-heartedly at his joke. I cast my eyes back at Dimitri to see his shoulder disappear into the rental car, and drive away. As I watched him leave, I let out a breath and threw my head back. I felt a tear sting in my eye.
"Who was that?" Jacob asked.
"Just someone from my past" I explained "But in other news, I now have my car" I said while running over to the car. I heard Jacob whistle admiringly.
"Pretty nice right" I said. "Mind you, I know little about cars, but I know I like to go fast".
"Good thing I'm a bit of a car freak then" He said joining me at the car.
"If you're free?" I said, gesturing to the car.
Jacob was admiring the car by running his hand across the roof. "Can I drive?" He asked.
I laughed "No" before getting in the driver's side.
The second I sat in the car time stopped. I was hit with a tidal wave of Dimitri's scent. My heart ached, we used to take a lot of long trips in this car, we were once so happy. So perfect for each other.
I hadn't even noticed Jacob get into the car. "Are you ok Rose?" He asked noticing my silence.
I turned my head to face the window, I didn't want him to see me cry. "I just was not expecting to see him" I said. "I think I just need to drive really freaking fast… and punch something" I said while pulling out of the school car lot a little more violently than necessary. I revved the engine, to warn people I was coming through.
"I can help with that" Jacob said. "The needing to punch something. If you drive up to the reserve. I've got the perfect thing" He explained.
"Ok" I said.
