A few days had passed since Ezra had joined the crew. The kid was crawling through the vents on his first official mission with the Ghost crew. Kanan told him that Minster Tua had specially designed blasters that could be useful to helping them beat the Empire! Ezra's job was to sneak into the vents and then into the building to find information about them. Once Ezra finally climbs out of the vents, he sees a stormtrooper passing by. He stealthily pulls behind a shadowy wall, so he won't be spotted.
"Agent Kallus, the delivery for the specially designed blasters from the Emperor is arriving for you to pick up!"
"Excellent, I want security doubled in case those Rebels try to ambush Minster Tua and steal them! Oh, and keep an eye out for Ezra Skywalker!..."
Ezra winced, hearing his true family name as the stormtrooper was confused why a simple child is such a threat.
"That boy?... He is but a child!..."
"I warn you... Do not underestimate that boy!... He may not be a fully trained Jedi, but as the youngest child of Anakin Skywalker, he is not be trialled with... I want him alive, Is that clear?..."
"Yes sir!..."
As the trooper escorts Kallus back to his ship, Ezra comes out of the shadows. He breathes a sigh of relief.
"Whew!... That was close!... I better go help Zeb and Sabine and see if they need any help!..."
By the time Ezra gets there, he sees Minster Tua holding them hostage with two droids by her side.
"Master Amda Wabo says that crate contains his ion disruptors, and he wants you to let him have it."
Ezra pulls back his slingshot readying it at the crates before speaking up.
"Oh, of course. There must be some mistake. We can let him have it!... (SHOOTS HIS ENERGY STRING AT THE CRATES HOLDING SOME EXPLOSIVES, CAUSING THE OTHERS TO BE KNOCKED DOWN.)"
Both Sabine and Zeb get up and grab their weapons just as Ezra joins them.
"Sorry I'm late!..."
"How nice of you to join us!..."
Ezra looks up and catches sight of Ghost landing on the ground. He sees Kanan waving at him, causing Ezra to smile and sees that the boarding ramp is starting to come down. Thinking fast, Ezra turns to both Zeb and Sabine.
"Guys, get the crates of blasters onto the ship! I'll cover you!"
Zeb and Sabine nod before rushing to get the blasters aboard. But just as they get the crates on the ship, Kanan approaches the ramp to see Ezra in trouble with the blaster fire before Zeb calls out to him.
"Ezra! Kid, jump!"
Ezra hesitates a little but jumps just in time for Zeb to grab his hand.
"(GROANS) Got him!..."
Zeb pulls the kid up onto the ship as it takes off, just before they hear two droids arguing.
"Good thinking, Artoo. We'll be quite safe from those ghastly hooligans in here."
Hera speaks up as she starts up the hyperdrive and as well as the ship.
"Who are you calling ghastly?"
Before the protocol droid can answer, Sabine comes in with another crate as Zeb helps Ezra down in his seat.
"And who are you calling hooligans?"
"I use that word "hooligans" in only the most complimentary of ways."
Kanan runs in with the last crate as the engine starts up.
"We can check the dictionary later. But for now, we gotta go!"
As soon as the ship enters hyperspace, Kanan places a worried hand on Ezra.
"Are you, Sabine, and Zeb alright, Ezra?..."
"Yeah, we're okay!... (HEARS A LOUD NOISE BEFORE GETTING UP TO SEE CHOPPER ARGUING WITH THE TWO DROIDS FROM EARLIER.) Don't worry Chop, I'll talk to them. (TURNS THE TWO DROIDS.) I can't tell you my name, but you could tell me your names?..."
"Oh, I am C-3PO, human-cyborg relations. And this is my counterpart, R2-D2!...
The blue droid beeps at Ezra, who waves a little.
"Hello!..."
Before Ezra could say anything else, Sabine interrupts.
"So, any reason why you were with the Imperial Minster of Lothal?..."
Zeb shoves her to be quiet before moticing Ezra to continue as 3PO speaks up.
"To answer your rather rude question, we were doing a mission assigned by our master..."
Ezra puts his hand before the droids could say anything else further.
"Please... Don't tell us!..."
"Why not?..."
"It's... Better than I don't know!... Tell you what, let's make a deal!... Me and my crew will help you back to your master if you pay us double what our secret friend is paying."
"You've got yourself a deal!..."
As Sabine stays to keep an eye on them and Hera leaves to land the Ghost on Lothal, both Zeb and Kanan turn surprised and confused to Ezra.
"How did you?..."
"What?!... You gave a whole big presentation about a map, I paid attention! When you're stuck on the streets for eight years, you pay attention to exit strategies!..."
Kanan smiles as he rubs his student's hair happily before they all went inside. Meanwhile, Minster Tua was reporting Ezra's attack on stealing the T-7 disruptors to Agent Kallus.
"Ezra was with the Mandalorian girl, who was a former academy student like me. And... A Lasat!..."
Kallus picks up on that, as she and Minster Tua are both interested in this discovery.
"Honestly, Agent Kallus, I didn't think there were any Lasats left."
Kallus just grinned at her, knowing he had another interesting target other than Kanan to get to the bottom of Ezra's bloodline.
"A few, Minister. Only a few."
In Zeb's room, the lasat just sat on his bunk on the bottom, feeling very upset. The disruptors they got were bothering him, really badly. Suddenly, he hears a knock on the door.
"(SIGHS) Who is it?..."
"It's me, Ezra, can I come in?..."
Zeb sighs before getting up open the door. He rubs his eyes, trying to hide his tears from Ezra.
"What do you want, kid?..."
"Zeb, ever since we got those special blasters, you haven't been yourself. Look, I may have only been living with you guys for only a few days, but I know when something is bothering you. I'm not gonna pretend to understand what you're going through; but if you wanna talk about it, I'm here, man!..."
Ezra turns to leave, Zeb thinks about it for a moment. The kid may have only been with them for less than a week; but Zeb felt like he could tell Ezra what was wrong, like he was able to do with Hera or Kanan in the past.
"(SIGHS) Ezra, wait... Do you know what a T-7 disruptor is, what it does to an organic being?"
"Uh, no... Not much... Only that people who came face to face with it, were never heard from again!..."
"Well, I know what it does. Because it's what the Imperials used on my people when they cleared my homeworld. Very few Lasats survived. And none remain on Lasan."
Ezra looks down a bit saddened by Zeb's story. Unknown to either of them, Kanan is softly listening to his student helping his new friend.
"I guess I could cut you a little slack."
Zeb rubs Ezra's hair, in a brotherly kind manner.
"Good boy!..."
Zeb leaves the room to join Sabine in the loading area, just as Kanan joins his student.
"Hey... I'm proud of you for being honest about your feelings to help deal with Zeb's, Ezra. If you're going to become a Jedi Knight someday; you have to learn how to be honest with your feelings, as well as others."
Ezra smiles at the idea of someone being proud of him after almost eight years.
"Thank you, Kanan!..."
Kanan grabs Ezra's hand, pulling him up to his feet before the both of them go to meet up with others.
