A few days had passed, and it now the day before Fumiko's mission; where they would be escorting an ambassador from Sunagakure. Fumiko was now more nervous than ever, and she thought constantly about the possibility of failure.

What if I fail? What if I'm not good enough to be a ninja? Or worse, what if I get one of my teammates killed? Since morning, these thoughts were constantly in her head.

As she had begun to walk back home after finishing her training for the day, she suddenly bumped into someone.

"S— shisui?"

"Are you okay? Follow me, I need to talk to you about something."

Around this time, it was already dark outside. Stars had started to form, illuminating the night sky. The piping sound of the crickets chirps had filled the air. Fumiko and Shisui stood by a small river.

"What is it?" Fumiko asked.

"Well, I just wanted to congratulate you. I heard you were going on your first mission tomorrow."

"Oh yeah... about that. I don't know if i'm ready."

"I'm sure you'll be fine," Shisui said. "And if you're still nervous, maybe I could help you train before you leave on your mission tomorrow."

"Really? That would be great," Fumiko said.

"So, what do you say? Wanna have a sparring match?" He asked.

"But, you're probably much more skilled than I am. That's not fair!" Fumiko said.

"I doubt that. I bet you're pretty strong," Shisui said enthusiastically.

"Ok, but at least go easy on me."

Both of them activated their respective dojutsus; Fumiko activated her Byakugan, and Shisui activated his Sharingan.

Shisui made the first move. He threw several shuriken, which Fumiko dodged with ease.

Katon: Gōkakyū No Jutsu

Fumiko exhaled a large puff of smoke, using the jutsu that Obito had just taught her several days back. As Shisui jumped to evade the jutsu, Fumiko threw her shuriken at him. He easily did a flip mid-air to avoid this, though. As he landed, Fumiko charged at him, preparing to strike him with gentle fist. As she stretched her arm out at an attempt to strike him, he grabbed it and forced her aside to defend himself.

"I can see through your attacks with my Sharingan," He said.

Then, he looked perplexed as he realized that something was wrong.

It was true that his Sharingan could see through her attacks. But despite this, his reaction time was a bit slow, and she managed to graze him with gentle fist.

A graze is all i need though. I don't need to land a direct hit for my taijutsu to take effect. And I can see with my Byakugan that I've already managed to partially disrupt your chakra flow.

Fumiko tried throwing a kunai at Shisui. As she threw it, a log had appeared to replace

Shisui's position, where the kunai should have hit. Substitution. Shisui uses this chance to land a sneak attack. He jumps in the air and launches several kunai at her from behind. She makes no effort at all to step away from the kunais' reach, and instead, without even looking back, she reaches out one of her own kunai and deflects them with it. She could see them even with her back turned away. In fact, she could see many things with her byakugan: she could see almost 360 towards any direction, she could see through walls, she could see up to miles away, she could see tenkutsu, she could see through genjutsu; etc. In short, she could basically see anything. It was futile trying to land a sneak attack on her, because she could see through it.

She didn't blame Shisui, though: the Byakugan and it's abilities were much less well known than the Sharingan's. The Hyuga had wanted it to be this way. Her problem, though, was the exact opposite of Shisui's. While he could predict and see through an opponents movements, but lacked faster reaction time, Fumiko's reaction time was actually quite fast; she just lacked the advantage of being able to read an opponents movements.

"So that's the power of those eyes of yours," Shisui said. "I should have known." Shisui gets closer and attempts to use taijutsu. He throws a punch at her, but Fumiko leaps back before she can actually get hit. They both grab out a kunai and lunge towards each other, but before either one of them could attack, they both had their kunai pressed against the other opponent's kunai. They both used all their strength (well Shisui was kind of holding back a little), but Shisui was much stronger. With a sudden force of energy, Fumiko was knocked to the ground.

"Your main weakness is your physical strength," Shisui said. "But good job. I'm really proud of you." He held out a hand towards Fumiko and lifted her up.

"Really?"

"Yes, really," Shisui replied. "I think you're a great ninja, you just need to stop doubting yourself." He smiled at her, genuinely.

Fumiko had graduated at the top of her class and was quite popular for her skills, but sometimes she felt like it was still never enough. Besides, this was the first time someone genuinely complimented her abilities like this. Usually, people only mentioned her skills in a jealous way, not to compliment her. She couldn't help but start blushing. She turned away and covered her face with her hair to hide this, but it only made it increasingly more obvious.

Shisui noticed this and laughed. It was not a laugh mocking her, but a friendly one. "Meet me after your first mission tomorrow, okay?" Shisui said.

"I will."

"Good luck," he said.
