X and Shadow Hitler stood apart from each other, facing one another down, curious about who would attack first. This was how most battles started, a stand-off between both sides.
In the end, only one would be victorious, neither could continue on while the other did. X's eyes narrowed and so did Shadow Hitler's, both hands gripped the hilts of their weapons tightly.
The tone of it all was full of suspense and tension, perhaps full of uncertainty. Could X, the one who'd beaten Sigma and so many Mavericks, actually defeat a monsterous version of a human overlord?
Nobody looked on, no distractions came, everything had now come down to this, it was just X and Shadow Hitler. Nothing could stop them from exchanging blows, there were no words to be spoken.
Time seemed to come to a standstill, the temperature had dropped and X got ready to dash towards his enemy. Shadow Hitler held up his axe, growling and baring razor sharp teeth and his red eyes blazed.
A minute ticked by, everything was building up, both sides continuing to stare each other down and then... X made the first move, he charged at his nemesis, ready to meet him head on.
Shadow Hitler smiled villainously and swung the ax in an attempt to cut down the blue robot, but with all of his reflexes, X ducked, dodged and lept over every attack, Zero's weapon ready.
Coming down on the dark would-be conquerer, X attacked, attempting to cut down Shadow Hitler, only for his sword attack to be blocked by the madman's shadowy ghost-like aurora.
Whoa, he's tougher than the others and when Mega Man fought him. X thought as he desperately tried to figure out how to take his foe down, I dunno what to do, all I gotta do is just keep going at him.
Chuckling at how pathetic his enemy's attacks were, Shadow Dolfy struck back, knocking X across the room and into a wall before charging at him and attempted to axe him.
X rolled out of the way and continued to try and press the attack in an attempt to weaken his foe's defenses, yet Shadow Hitler's sheild still stood, hardly giving out at any given minute.
Shadow Hitler punched X with a free fist, unbalancing him, before kicking him to the ground. X fell to his knees, almost dropping his sword, before trying to get up.
He rose and evaded just in time too, Shadow Hitler once again brought down his axe and its blade impaled itself in the ground, resulting in it getting stuck.
As the dark phantom clone of Adolf Hitler struggled to get it free, X launched another attack run, attempting to slice him in half. But somehow, Shadow Hitler's shield STILL hadn't given out.
Ugh, how? X thought, How is this possible?
It was then that Shadow Hitler finally managed to free his axe and took a swing at X, who now decided it was time for a quick retreat and backed away from Shadow Hitler, all while trying to survive.
"Retreating already?" The dark madman mused, "Whats the matter, getting tired, run out of soldiers and strategies and can't take down my sheild? You're pathetic, you blue bomber, very pathetic!"
X finally had an idea and activated the Shadow Nazi Propaganda Blast technique, going all out and blasting out a gigantic propaganda speech regarding Adolf Hitler's history.
In fact, the Maverick Hunter made sure to have the speech be so crazy and the volume on his crazy propaganda shouting be so loud as much as possible, it would daze and confuse Shadow Hitler enough...
...To result in his sheild vanishing as the moustached axe-crazy monster screamed and dropped to his knees, covering his ears and protesting, pleading for the sound to go away.
Finding the golden opportunity, X ceased his propaganda run and reignited the Zero Saber again, charging in towards his foe and ran the blade right through Shadow Hitler's heart.
Dark blood poured from the wound as the Shadow Fuerher grunted and toppled to the ground, but not before X retrieved the weapon. Shadow Hitler rolled over on his back, staring up at his foe.
"N-not again." He moaned, "C-c-curse you, X! Th-this is n-n-not th-th-the end, my legacy w-w-will live on and o-one day, we, th-the Nazis will reincarnate and the great glory of the Reich will shine again..."
"And somebody will be waiting to prevent that from happening." X remarked, "Sorry, Shadow Hitler. This is your final end, you Shadow Nazis will fade, may Nazism never rule the world for all eternity."
"I'm not going down alone, you blasted inferior piece of tech trash, I promise you that!" Shadow Hitler growled softly before shouting with full rage, "IF I'M GOING DOWN, THEN I'M TAKING YOU WITH ME!"
Before X could say anything, the whole room began to shake as explosions rocked the castle. At this point, the super evil overlord was using the last of his strength to bring it down.
"You... better... try... to... run!" X heard his fallen enemy croak, "Other-wise, you... will... be... destroyed... when... my... castle... falls... and... everything... comes... to... an... end!"
X watched as Shadow hitler disintigrated in a puff of smoke, the rumbling and explosions quickly intensifying to a crescendo of chaos, shaking the whole area a lot more harder than ever.
GO! NOW! The Maverick Hunter's instincts screamed, run for it! And so X did run, he ran towards the nearby door and dashed down the staircase leading down into a hallway he'd never gone through.
Shadow Nazi SS soldiers in the area, who were ignoring the chaos, began firing on X the second they spotted him coming, attempting to take him down and reduce him to a charred pile of scrap metal.
I don't have time for this, X thought as he charged through the rows of enemy soldiers on the attack, he sliced through every last Shadow Nazi with the Zero Saber all the way to a teleporter beam.
The tall cylinder glowed and hummed to life and X found himself warping all the way down several levels, making it back to the entrance hall, the teleporter had read his mind and granted his wish.
Rubble was falling all around him, pillars were collapsing and fires were burning as banners fell, bursting into flames. Leftover Shadow Nazi warriors were screaming as they got crushed beneath the rubble.
Mustering all of his strength he could get, X ran for the exit, dodging the flames and falling rubble while making sure he didn't end up going through any Shadowstika Portals that appeared out of nowhere.
He kept running and kept moving at a breakneck pace until he was out of there and didn't stop until he'd achieved enough distance between himself and the fortress' destruction.
X turned to watch as Shadow Hitler's menacing tower fell, becoming nothing more than a smoldering pile of rocks and dust. It was over, the Shadow Nazi Reich had been defeated and the world was safe.
But then, just before X could rejoice his victory, he felt a large rumble and the rubble began to shift, sending dust into the air. He thought it was over, what was happening now?
Why couldn't the brave Maverick Hunter hero just have a well earned victory and relax until the next big bad guy attack, was Shadow Hitler trying to make a comeback, why was the ground shaking?
KA BOOM! X watched as the remains of the villainous castle exploded and his question of what was happening was answered as a large figure rose, smiling menacingly and red eyes glowing.
"Impossible!" X muttered, recognizing the face of Sigma at once. He never forgot a face and was shocked that his arch nemesis and former friend was here, having take on a new towering form.
One way or another, Sigma must have been waiting until Shadow Hitler was defeated before he made his move. He'd apparently obtained power from the Shadow Nazis, not to mention the Shadowstika Portals.
Either way, X knew who this was, Sigma could take on any new form he wanted to take, but his personality and his appearance in face would never, ever change, neither could X be fooled.
The new Sigma marched out of the spot where the castle once stood, walking three paces and then looked down at X with a colder smile upon his face, eyes narrowed and red pupils flashing wildly.
"HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!" Sigma cackled, "DIDN'T SEE THAT ONE COMING DID YOU, X? DID YOU THINK IT WOULD BE OVER? WELL TOO BAD, I'M NOW BACK IN THE FIELD AND READY TO CONTROL EVERYTHING!
"WHILE YOU TOOK YOUR TIME SHADOW NAZI HUNTING AND WHILE YOU FOUGHT THE SHADOW FUERHER, I MADE MY WAY HERE AND BEGAN ABSORBING POWER FROM A SHADOW NAZI GENERATOR!
"NOW I AM AT FULL STRENGTH, THE TIME HAS COME TO ANNIHILATE YOU AND REBUILD THE WORLD IN MY IMAGE, WE MACHINES WILL PROVE OUR SUPERIORITY TO HUMANS AND WE WILL RULE ALL!
"ONCE THE PLANET IS MINE TO RULE, I WILL THEN PROCEED TO CONQUER THE REST OF THE UNIVERSE AND BRING ALL OF CREATION UNDER MY CONTROL, MY CONQUEST WILL BE ABSOLUTE AND I WILL RULE AS A GOTT!
"ENJOY THE FINAL SECONDS OF YOUR EXISTANCE, X! YOUR DESTRUCTION IS COMING AND I WANT TO MAKE SURE OUR FINAL BATTLE IS MEMORABLE AS POSSIBLE, IT WAS FUN KNOWING YOU, BUT THIS IS THE END. PREPARE!"
Despite having just gone through a battle earlier and despite the possibility that his battle energy was exhausted, X knew Sigma had to be stopped and so he prepared for one more batle.
Sigma laughed maniacally as he advanced slowly towards the one who'd beaten him so many times, his arm transforming into a missile launcher and taking aim at the Reploid Hero, eyes narrowing.
"HAVE SOME MISSILES, X!" The robotic overlord bellowed and fired several red and black missiles that went straight for X, who shot both of them down with his X buster and took aim at Sigma's head.
BOOM BOOM BOOM! X fired several volleys from his arm cannon, attempting to shoot at the area between Sigma's eyes in an attempt to blind him and take him off balance... only for the shots to miss.
The dark shadow of the giant loomed over the blue armored robot hero, Sigma cackling with glee as he raised his foot. "PREPARE TO BE SQUASHED LIKE THE BUG YOU AND YOUR HUMAN FRIENDS ARE!" He roared.
X ducked to the side just as Sigma brought down his foot in an attempt to crush him to pieces, sending a shockwave across the area, X got to his feet and started planning out an attack plan.
He knew Sigma was not at full power and as the minutes ticked by, if Sigma wasn't taken down, he would be unbeatable. Unless he did something now, Sigma would conquer the whole universe.
Everything was once again on the line and it all came down to X, the fate of the universe rested on his shoulders and he could not fail. He wasn't scared, he could do this, he had to do it for everybody's sake.
"I CAN'T SEE YOU, X!" Sigma boomed, "BUT MY SENSORS CAN DETECT YOUR PRESENCE, I KNOW YOU'RE HERE AND YOU'RE PLANNING SOMETHING, BUT WHAT IS IT? YOUR PLANS WILL NEVER WORK IN THE END..."
Coming up with an idea, X got out Shadow Speer's Shadow Hammer, activating Shadow Hammer mode, and got to work. He climbed Sigma and began smacking away at him while continuing his climb.
X worked hard, trying to damage, disable, stabotoge and bring down the menacing giant overlord. Sigma was so busy trying to find X, he couldn't see him or hear him or feel him due to being a robot.
Eventually, X made his way to his head and began banging away with the hammer, banging the top and at the ears. This caused confusion with Sigma, who began to assume what was going on.
Thinking he'd done enough damage, X used the Sigma Saber to cut open the top of Sigma's head, revealing the interior of his brain, before unleashing a Mega X Buster shot inside, damaging Sigma's mind.
"WHAT THE...? WHAT'S THIS? NO!" Sigma cried as he began malfunctioning, stumbling around due to his legs not functioning, thanks to X's hammer. "NOT AGAIN, NO, CURSE YOU, X!"
Seeing a golden chance, X super charged his arm cannon, leapt off Sigma's head and flipped around while taking aim at his face just as he saw him fall flat on his robotic bottom.
X had one shot, he couldn't miss. Using all of his strength, he fired and the ball of plasma from the X Buster flew at Sigma's head, hitting the spot atop it and, upon impact...
KA BOOOOOOOOOOOM! "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Sigma wailed, his whole body beginning to crumble and collapse, his head vaporizing. X landed on the ground, watching as Sigma was defeated again at last.
What remained of Sigma's head exploded and the rest of his mechanical body ignited, creating a massive explosion that could've taken out X had he not been invulnerable against fire.
As the dust settled and the lights had stopped flashing, X looked at the spot where Sigma once stood and smiled, relishing the victory and knowing that he'd saved the world twice.
It was then that his communicator beeped and Doctor Cain's voice came over it, "X, my boy. You did it again, I've been watching you, you defeated Shadow Hitler and stopped Sigma again, I'm proud of you."
"Thanks, Doctor." X replied, "I know you're not Doctor Light, but I'm happy to accept that your proud of my heroics, however, Zero's gone. Again! He went down during the showdown with Shadow Hitler."
"Don't worry about Zero, we'll deal with him later. Right now, come back so we can rejoice your victory, I believe that a party should be in order, you also need a tune up."
"A party and a tune up?"
"To make sure you haven't sustained tons of damage during the battle, you're probably low on energy. Just come back to my lab so we can examine you and then we can party."
X nodded and, with that, he turned on his teleporter and teleported back to Doctor Cain's lab with the knowledge that his job was done...
And so, the brave Maverick Hunter X defeated the Shadow Nazis along with Sigma and peace was restored again, the Maverick Wars have ended for the time being, but could Sigma return again one day?
Time will tell, until then, X partied with Doctor Cain and eventually fell in love with a gorgeous reploid girl named Katie, their relationship was a happy one and it would last for a long time.
As for the Shadow Nazis, they are probably bound to never again return as Shadow Hitler's spirit, along with the original Hitler, wanders through a dark void, aimless and alone...
Well done, X. You are a hero just like your big brother Mega Man, continue to fight, for everlasting peace forever and ever and ever. May we meet again one day, until then, keep up the good work.
