A/N: Confession: I like April, she's awesome and I love seeing daddy Luke getting involved with all her teen girl drama and stuff. I believe they would have broken up even without April there because until Lorelai finally set Christopher free fully and stepped back from him, she would never be able to go anywhere as he would always, even by accident, mess it up in the long run, season 7 was about Lorelai releasing Christopher, and taking him out her life, allowing herself the freedom to live her life without him hanging in the background, the two been friends would have broken them up eventally, so yes I think season 7 had to happen, Luke had to learn to let Lorelai in and Lorelai had to realise she loves Luke and had to commit to that and she can't run to Christopher when she is upset or hurting. I like April so decided to give her a bigger role in this story, I hope you enjoy!

Chapter Ten
The fifteen-minute journey to the hospital seemed to last for years to Luke. The female paramedic was at the back of the ambulance with him and told him she had done something to stop the bleeding been as bad, but it was only temporary. Luke just nodded, completely numb as to what was happening, Lorelai was out cold now, she hadn´t woken again.
When they arrived at the hospital Luke could sense the panic. A bunch of porters met them at the doors and started rushing down the corridors so fast Luke could barely keep up, he heard people talking amongst themselves speaking in medical terms he didn't understand but one word did make sense.
"Surgery, wait what surgery, hang on" Luke shouted as they rushed through some double doors. A nurse walked in front of him stopping him from going further.
"We need to take your wife for emergency surgery, you will have to wait here," the woman told him.
"Surgery...?" he said struggling to take it in.
"She's losing blood fast, we need to do an operation to stop the bleeding" the woman briefly explained.
"Let me come, I will stand in a corner" Luke said stupidly not thinking straight.
"I am sorry it is not possible, please take a seat, someone will be out to speak to you soon," the nurse said before leaving. Luke felt a bit dizzy and lightheaded with what was happening so walked to the waiting area, clutching one of the metal chairs for a while before sitting. Only one other person was waiting, as, after all, it was four in the morning. Luke realised that Lorelai was in a bad way and he had to alert people to the situation. He took out his phone, dialling Rory, he had promised he wouldn't tell her, but this was different.
He was surprised she answered only after two rings and didn't seem too tired or surprised, then again this was the daughter of a woman who had the habit of ringing at silly times to tell her about a dream.
"Hello," Rory said expecting it to be her mum waning her to analyse her dream
"Rory it's Luke," he said trying to keep his tone normal.
"Luke...is everything okay?" Rory asked very confused
"Your mum is in hospital, she's in surgery," Luke said
"What?" Rory asked jumping out of bed to start dressing
"She was having pains in her side and she was bleeding, I don't know what's wrong with her but it doesn't look good," Luke told her.
"How did you know she was hurt?" Rory asked throwing a random skirt on backwards as she spoke
"She has been staying with me, no time to explain, look I think you should come, she's in a bad way," Luke told her
"Are you at St. Joesph's? Rory asked him
"Yes, can you ring your grandparents? I'm not their favourite person, think it will come better from you" Luke told her.
"Yes, I will ring them should I call dad?" Rory asked
"NO" Luke shouted without meaning too "Rory, you can't ring him you have to find a way to get your grandparents not too, he hit your mum," Luke said knowing he had to tell her so she understood why he denied it.
"WHAT" Rory shouted
"That is why she was at my flat, she was too scared to go home, do not call him, he is only going to upset her," Luke told her. Rory sighed sounding close to tears then spoke.
"He won't be told, I will see to that, see you soon Luke, thanks for telling me," Rory said hanging up.
After that he clicked speed dial number two, the phone rang and rang then went on voicemail, Luke rang again and eventually, April answered.
"Whoever you are I despise you," April said groggy with tiredness just haven't been woken from her deep sleep and hadn't been too tired to look at the caller id.
"April it's dad," Luke said
"Huh...oh...I am sorry for getting mad before but can we discuss this at a normal time" she asked knowing her dad and how he would ring her at this time because he was panicking about their fight.
"How much blood loss is deadly?" Luke asked not even knowing why he had rung her, for advice or a friendly voice he assumed. He knew she couldn't do much.
"Huh?" "Dad have you been drinking or are on a new medication I should know about?" April said rubbing her eyes
"Lorelai...blood...lots...not awake...pain..." he said not even knowing where to start.
"Wait Lorelai is in hospital from blood loss?" April asked trying to figure out what he meant.
"Yes," Luke said with a sigh, close to tears now, hearing April was sending him closer to the edge.
"I thought you weren't talking?" April asked
"Her husband is a nutter, he hit her and she was scared so she was staying with me for a dew days" Luke admitted
"That is why you couldn't meet me?" April asked
"I am sorry...she's was in a really bad way," Luke told her. He said this before realising he was speaking to himself and wondering if April had fallen asleep.
"Sorry I was getting dressed, I will be there soon," April said
"Oh no, you don't have too.," Luke said
"I know she hates me but I want to support you, and her, I like Lorelai" April replied
"She doesn't hate you, she hates me for been an idiot" Luke replied honestly
"I am still coming, I want to" she replied stubbornly and Luke wished she had not inherited his stubbornness.
"Okay but only come if your mum can bring you, its dangerous out there at this time," Luke said knowing the last thing he needed was a drunk attacking April.
"Fine" she sighed "I will text you when I know, love you bye"
"Love you too sweet," Luke said letting the call end. He was glad April was coming because the place was spinning and he was worried about coping with this alone, he put his head in his hands, begging tears to come but he was so numb they wouldn't.
