Chapter Eight
~Through Brandon's Eyes~

"Brandon?" I gulped as I stared at my stepdad. "We brought you some Chinese food."

"I um, invited some friends over," I said.

"Really? Can I meet them?" Mom glanced at me as she put the food on the counter.

"Really? I haven't seen them in awhile," She said, curious. Buddy and Callie walked into the kitchen.

"Hey Mrs Carden," Buddy greeted. Mom's eyes turned cold.

"I'm remarried so please call me Sinclair," She said shortly. Buddy nodded, swallowing. I bit my lip looking down at the floor.

"Mom, this is Buddy and Callie Shaw,"

"Hey sweetie, I'm gonna go get some stuff from my office and then we will go on that dinner date you really wanted, okay?" My stepdad said about to walk up the stairs.

"Uh, wait, Derek, I'd like to go with you." Derek raised his eyebrows at me.

"All right, Derek, I'll be waiting." Mom called up to us. Oh nooooo..ooohhnonohnoohnoohno... I couldn't believe this. JOE was in there! In my stepdad's office closet. Oh no! Omgoodness... Freaking out here! I walked up the stairs faster.

"What is going on, Brandon?" Derek asked as I ran into the office, slammed the door closed and locked it. I leaned against the door, sweating. Ohno. I opened the closet door, saw Joe squint at the harsh light.

"I'm sorry Joe, really am." I said quietly. I untied his hands and feet. He instinctively took of his gag.

"What is going on? Why did you kidnap me? Why are you doing this to me?" I covered his mouth as I could hear my stepdad reach the door. My eyes widened and I slid to the door.

"Get up, Joe, get up! Or next time I'll knock you out again!" I snapped. He got up reluctantly. "And tell a lie, you're good at that."

"Huh? I'm not lying to your stepdad! Last time I did that he was-"

I opened the door. "What is going on here, Brandon?"

"Hi, Derek, I forgot to tell you that Joe was in here," Derek looked around before his eyes landed on Joe.

"You're still friends with Joe Hardy? That's a surprise. I told you that I didn't want him around anymore." I heard Joe gasp behind me.

"Look Derek, I just wanted to catch up with him. I didn't know you were coming home sooner, I'm sorry." I grimaced and looked away to the side as my stepdad took a step closer to me menacingly

"You'll be more sorry than you'll ever be," Derek glared at me.

"Wait, come on, Mr. Sinclair, please stop. I'll leave. Okay?" Joe said talking a step forward so he could get out. Derek glared at him.

"Leave before I punch you, kid," He growled. Joe ran out of the office. "Now, thank you very much, Brandon. Please go downstairs. I wanted to go out with your mother tonight. So hurry up!" I nodded and ran downstairs. I slammed into Callie who had her arms held over her chest. I stared at her after apologizing. She looked at me like she wanted to hurt me.

"Bye sweetie," Mom spoke before kissing me on the cheek. "See you tonight."

"Bye Mom," My stepdad and mom left the house quietly.

"What's going on Callie? Why are you glaring at me?"

"I have to go, Brandon," She turned away ready to leave the house but I grabbed her by the arm.

"What is going on? Is it because that Joe's escaped?" I asked worriedly. I didn't want to lose her.

"No, its because... I've been lying to you, Brandon," Callie spoke hurriedly, tears falling down her face.

"What do you mean?"

"I still love Frank and... I only dated you because Frank and I wanted to get Joe out of the way." I gasped.

"What?"

"I know, it wasn't my idea, it was Frank's, but... I knew that you would do it..." (Note: don't kill me! you'll see why! okay?)

"But Frank saw me dragging Joe into the van," Callie bit her lip.

"I... um... well, I didn't tell him when I'd do it..."

"But you're going to California though... Why? Or at least that's what Joe told me." I sighed rubbing my forehead. I leaned against the kitchen counter. Suddenly the door ripped open and Frank was there.

"Frank!" Callie and I said at the same time.

"Where's Joe? You didn't hurt him that bad did you?" He asked. He stopped looking around when he saw me. "Brandon Carden?"

"What...? Oh so Callie hired you?" I nodded, didn't want to say anything what happened between me and Callie. Especially to Frank Hardy.

"Joe's gone," I said.

"Oh, well Callie lets go." Callie grabbed a duffel bag beside her. I hadn't even noticed it.

"Wait!" I called as they reached the open doorway. "Why are you going to California?"

"We're eloping."
