Shadow x Rouge: Agents in Love

Chapter Eight: Dinner Double Date with Sonic and Amy

A warm breeze blew through the district as world hero Sonic the Hedgehog arrived, but he was not alone for he was accompanied by his girlfriend, hammer-wielder Amy Rose. They were on a date and had just gotten out of Twinkle Park, ready for dinner.

Sonic wore his trademark white gloves, socks and rocket shoes, Amy wore pink high heels and a revealing orange version of her red-white sundress along with her gold bracelets and white gloves.

Coming to a stop on a sidewalk right by the diner, Sonic set down his girlfriend, having been carrying her bridal style all the way from Twinkle Park in his arms, and they walked towards the fancy eating establishment.

Just as they were approaching the diner, the two hedgehogs bumped right into Shadow and Rouge. "Hey, its Rouge and Shadow." Amy remarked with delight.

"Hey, you two." Rouge said happily just as she, her boyfriend, Sonic and Amy walked up to each other, "It's been quite a while and it's good to see you guys again."

"Sure has, bat thief." Sonic remarked as his snarky demeanor kicked in, he clicked his index fingers at Shadow as if he were pointing guns at him, "Long time no see, faker!"

Amy elbowed the blue hedgehog, glaring at him. "Ow." The speedster protested, "What was that for, Ames?" Amy then grabbed Sonic by the ear and hissed, "Be nice and don't call our friends 'fakers' or 'thieves'!"

"Its fine, Amy." Shadow said politely, holding up a hand and defusing the slight tension between Amy and Sonic, "Sonic's being complimentary and 'faker' is just a playful and endearing nickname."

"So?" Rouge asked, "I take it we're all dating now?"

"Yeah." Amy nodded, "Sonic and I figured everything out and we just started dating today. By the way, you and Shadow look like you're on a date."

"We are, actually." The white bat replied, "Shadow admitted his feelings for me a few weeks ago and we've been going out ever since, he got me some jewelry earlier."

"Ho ho!" Sonic chuckled, looking at Shadow, "Look at that, Shad. I never thought you and Rouge would ever get together given your tough and edgy demeanor."

Shadow hmphed, "I may be 'edgy' but I have a soft spot and care about others other than myself, Sonic. I've always had feelings for Rouge well after we first met, for a time she'd tease me, but it was clear in the end we had feelings for each other."

"Since we're going to the diner together," Amy suggested, "Why don't we make this a double date?" Rouge commented that it was a great idea and Sonic approved as well, together the two couples walked through the glass door and into the diner.

Taking in the scene, Sonic, Amy, Shadow and Rouge looked around for a table to sit at before the speedy blue hero pulled up a waiter, a man in a suit, and asked for a seat. The waiter led the four to a table big enough for three to four people to sit at.

Amy, Sonic, Rouge and Shadow's table was medium sized, like the other tables, and decorated with a blue tarp. It sat near the window and the seats were like sofas, most diners had seats like that, complete with comfortable red plush bags installed in them.

Both couples sat down, Sonic sat down on his side with Amy and Shadow sat down across from them with Rouge by his side. A waiter came, asking what they'd like to have and the speedster ordered some champagne, bread and chilidogs for them.

Not long after the waiter left, Amy asked, "How's Omega doing and how've you two been with G.U.N? Did you get in trouble with the commander for falling in love? You two don't look like you got in trouble for infatuation."

"Omega's fine." Rouge replied, "He's still blowing stuff up from time to time and we just got some time off, allowing me and Shadow to spend all the time in the world to ourselves and Omega's doing target practice."

"As for our G.U.N missions," Shadow chimed in, "We've worked hard and, no, we did not land in trouble with the Commander for falling in love. A few weeks ago, we infiltrated and destroyed another one of Doctor Eggman's bases."

"Way past cool." Sonic remarked happily, "You two really know how to give the doc a headache way more than I can, its great to have allies like you in our ongoing battle with Eggman. I just beat the doc again myself earlier today."

"How did that one go?" Rouge asked.

"Eggman piloted this 'Egg Cattle Snatcher bot' and had this plan involving the abduction of cows, so I trashed his mech and saved a farmland from him."

"Me and Rouge found schematics for a mech similar to the one you're talking about." Shadow said at the mention of the mech Sonic faced.

The waited returned and served the four their meal and drinks, Sonic dug into his chili dogs and so did Amy before she dug into her bread with Rouge and Shadow. They drank their wine after several bites, making sure they washed down their dinner.

All was fine, dinner tasted great, and nothing much happened. Then, just as the four were finishing their meal, a waiter approached and asked, "Excuse me, hate to bother you, but is A.I dangerous or is it a tool for good and is bad if used by evil hands?"

"Dunno why you'd suddenly ask that," Sonic remarked cautiously, "But, usually, technology is a helpful tool. As far as I'm concerned, the only time technology is dangerous is if its Eggman created and programmed for evil."

A group of people, who were eating dinner, overheard and began having a debate over if technology was a good thing or something dangerous. This led to a few more people debating the topic, leading to the diner staff getting involved with the debates.

"Unbelievable." Shadow rolled his eyes with dismay as the whole diner began arguing over technology being either good or bad, he stood up to leave, gesturing for Rouge to follow him and paid one of the waiters for their meal.

The black hedgehog and the bat left the diner, looking at each other with some confusion. At least Omega wasn't here, if he were, he probably wouldn't have taken the debate very well and gotten upset over people thinking he was a danger to everyone.

Shadow and Rouge embraced and kissed each other on the lips, agreeing to never again worry about this, before teleporting away somewhere else to find some alone time and not think about what had just unfolded...
