Edgar paused at the sight that greeted him upon entering his room. His sour mood took a turn as he stared in open appreciation at Alice sitting on his bed in nothing but a sheer pale blue robe. The delicate, shy blush dusting her cheeks as her own eyes would meet his own and to the side was telling. It still amazed him that she held to what she said after the trial two years ago. He was tainted, undeserving of her love and devotion.

Letting a smile grace his lips as he stalked towards his bed, letting his eyes roam over her, appreciating the outline of her curves.

"Edgar?"

Blinking and realizing he had stopped when he spotted the pot, he lifted his gaze to meet hers. Seeing the small smile on her lips and the twinkle in the depths of her blue eyes had him feeling curious and on edge.

"Yes?" He asked, letting his gaze drop back to her hands.

The soft laugh she gave before she replied had his eyes lift to hers, "I want to play a game, Edgar, and the reward is sweet."

Starting a bit, Edgar arched an eyebrow and flashed her a wide smile. When Alice returned it, that twinkle in her eyes became more pronounced, he started to remove his jacket.

"A game? What type of game?"

He didn't miss the way her gaze dropped and watched him as he finished removing his jacket and then his sword belt.

"A guessing game called 'The Word Game.'"

Feeling rather intrigued as he bent and started on his boots, enjoying the feel of her eyes on him. There was no mistaking the heat in her gaze as she delighted in his actions. Once he was done, he righted himself and started on his shirt only to get a small grunt of displeasure. The sound stayed Edgar's hands as he looked at Alice.

"What?" He asked, his confusion audible to his own ears.

"Leave that on; it will make it more fun... for me."

Unable to stop himself as his eyebrows jumped up on his forehead, Edgar watched as Alice gave him a playful, mischievous smirk before pointing at him and then at the bed.

Giving a small nod and a soft mmh as he did what she was indicating as he spoke up, asking what he deemed an important question, "So, what is the Word Game? And how does one play?"

The sweet laugh before she responded, "Sit against the head of the bed, make yourself comfy. And to your questions, it is simple. It is a game of senses and guessing. You will be blindfolded and have to guess what I am spelling out on your skin, in random and safe places. You get two guesses, and if you guess right, you will get a reward that I know you'll like. But you will have to trust me to give it to you while you stay blindfolded."

The concept intrigued him and made him appreciate how creative she could be. Even after the past two years, and holding her captive and falling for her, his Alice could always surprise him like this. Not saying anything, Edgar shifted himself until he had his back against the head of the bed, pillows propped up to make it comfortable. Then crossing his legs at the ankles and hands in his lap, he gave a pointed (if not eager) look at Alice to start.

The way she smiled shyly as her eyes cast a coy look at him, Edgar chuckled softly. Soon though, she had a sleeping mask over his eyes and pulled down and pressed lightly to keep him from seeing anything but darkness. His sense of hearing and touch skyrocketed at that point, making him hyperaware. The way the bed dipped as she settled next to him, as the heat of her body seeped through his slacks.

"Okay, Let's start."

Those three words had him fight to keep from stiffening on instinct alone. Edgar felt the bed dip when Alice shifted, and soon he felt her fingers begin to trace out letters on his forehead.

"What is the word, Edgar."

He took a slow, steadying breath through his nose before speaking, "Duck."

The soft, sweet laugh he got had him smiling as he felt anticipation building. It was time for that first reward, and he was curious as to what she would do. When the bed shifted and dipped further, Edgar tilted his head to the side, focusing on trying to hear what Alice was doing. The soft clink of something being set down before a sweet scent filled the air. It had his mouth-watering, for he knew that scent; it was honey.

Soon that sweet smell was assaulting his sense of smell before he felt the air move before his lips.

"Here is your treat."

There was warmth mixed with that smell. Flicking his tongue out, Edgar went still as his tongue grazed through the sticky sweetness only to feel something familiar. Behind his blindfold, Edgar felt his eyes go wide as it dawned on him what he just licked the honey from Alice's forehead. He was impressed with how she decided to deliver his reward to him. Tilting his head to the side, and began to take his time to lick and nibble all the honey from her thoroughly.

"O-okay, let's continue. Next word."

The slight stumble as Alice spoke had him fighting to keep a Cheshire grin from his lips. Though internally, he started to pout when she lifted his other arm and fumbled once more to unbutton his cuff and roll it up. When it was set down carefully again, Edgar readied himself for both that ticklish feeling that would accompany her writing out the word and which word she was spelling.

"Okay, what word did I spell, Edgar."

He couldn't help the smile that he knew was on his face as he answered, "Candy. That was easy."

The soft snort he got in response had him smothering a chuckle. And like before, he soon was enjoying removing the honey that coated Alices' wrist. This time, though, he took his time and tasted it, noting it was almost the consistency of jelly and flavored with cinnamon. Edgar gave a rather long suckle over the pulse point once he was done, pulling away with a loud pop. The half gasp, half whimper from Alice, let Edgar know that he was affecting her greatly.

He was enjoying this game, as well as the honey, and how she was delivering it, so he just smiled wider when she repeated the process once again. Her tiny hands, with long delicate fingers, grabbed his left arm, and lifted it. He felt her fumble using only one hand to undo the cuff buttons before it was pushed back. Then she set his arm down, wrist side up before he felt a fingertip begin to spell out a word slowly. Each letter was clear, as he felt his breath catch in his throat at the ticklish feeling it was eliciting.

"Okay, what did I spell."

Edgar shook his head again, chuckling as he replied, "Family. I sense a trend here; the words are getting progressively longer, Alice. Why not challenge me?"

The small huff he got in return as he felt his wrist be settled back in his lap, Edgar wondered if she would up the ante? He really hoped she did. When she gave no response, he opened his mouth to tease her a bit more but went still. The feel of her fingers pushing the collar of his shirt further to the side, exposing his neck. When he said to make the game more challenging, he didn't think she would do something like this. It was rather bold of her, but he wasn't going to say anything; nope, he would enjoy himself more.

"Okay, you wanted a challenge."

The amused lilt to her whispered words had his heart beating a staccato in his chest. Which he was sure she could feel as he tried to focus on what she was writing out from his collarbone all the way up and right behind his ear. The way her fingertips softly brushed over his sensitive flesh, causing it to feel exceptionally hot to him. It was rather distracting as he was sure she felt his pulse speed up when she crossed the pulse point.

"Alright, what did I write, Edgar? Or do I need to write it again?"

Her voice was a soft, husky whisper, but still sounding amused. His mind felt torn between what she'd done to him and what she had written. But slowly he shook his head, finally able to calm his mind a little. Not missing the short burst of laughter he was familiar with. Nope, that laugh was reserved for when he was blushing, and he did not doubt with how hot his body felt he was.

"No," He said, smirking devilishly at her. "It's I love you."

"Why, Edgar, I love you too!"

The small huff from his Alice was all he needed to know as she replied; he got it right. And he let his body relax back and wait. It wasn't long before the sweet scent of spiced honey, and the unique scent of strawberries and cream filled his senses. When the bed shifted and dipped again, he really wished that he didn't have the blindfold on. The need to see her face as she straddled his thighs to deliver his treat was painful.

"No biting or nipping."

The words said in a stern hiss, and Edgar would adhere to them. However, it was always fun to see and hear her squirm and whine when he did that delicate spot just behind her ears. When he felt the air stir on either side of his head, Edgar tensed his body before he felt the honey, warmed by her own skin, brush against his lip. Not waiting for the okay, he slowly opened his mouth and latched on, feeling the irregular beating of her pulse as his tongue flicked over the light coating of honey. Giving a small hum of delight as he purposely took his time, making sure to get every last bit off her and leaving an intentional mark on that pale flesh.

"Oh!"

Edgar removed his mouth at her exclamation, smiling as he blew a quick breath across her skin. Feeling her tremble where her legs brushed against his thighs.

"Did I win the game?" He asked, enjoying how it made her tremble more before she pulled away.

"No. There is one more round. And it is the hardest yet."

The feel of air rushing in where her body had been made Edgar frown a little at how cold it felt.

"Ah. So what do I get for guessing all of these, right? I mean, the honey is nice and all... as well as it being given via your body," he asked, making sure to let his voice drop a few octaves.

"Guess this next one, and you'll find out, Edgar. I think you'll be surprised with that prize."

"Then, please, don't keep me waiting," he quipped, shifting his body, so he was more comfortable and pulling his arms from under her to settle them across his stomach.

Silence filled the room, except for the small hitch in her breathing. Edgar could tell she was nervous but unsure of why. Then his mind took a turn down a different turn when she sat completely on his thighs, her hands deftly undoing a few more buttons on his shirt before pushing it down to expose his left shoulder and upper chest. Before he could collect his thoughts, Alices' fingers were moving again, spelling out words starting under his collarbone and then down over his peck, across his nipple, to be punctuated. It lit his body up in all kinds of delightful and very distracting ways.

The moment his mind blanked out as she finished, Edgar pursed his lips in thought. He had to be mistaken about what she wrote.

"Can you write it once more, please?" he asked.

"Of course."

It felt like torture when she dragged her fingers back up to his collarbone, nails lightly scraping at his fevered flesh. Once more, she wrote out the sentence, for that was what it was, just as quickly. Once she had finished, Edgar swallowed, feeling like his throat was constricting. To feel suddenly, lightheaded was disorientating.

"Edgar? Do you give up?"

The words were spoken softly, almost a taunt. Frowning as he shook his head and collected himself once more. Glad that time spent with his Alice was never boring or without its own surprises.

Edgar felt unsure as he opened his mouth and spoke, "Edgar, will you marry me?"

He knew it came out as a question. There was no sound in the room but their breathing, and it was starting to feel a bit awkward. Then he felt her hands on his face, cupping it before he felt her thumbs stroke across his cheeks and push up the blindfold. After blinking a few times to adjust to the light, he looked into her eyes and saw the same uncertainty he felt reflected in their blue depths.

"Well, Edgar, will you marry me?"

Her words were spoken hesitantly as her bottom lip trembled. This was not what he had expected when they had started to play this game she had suggested. But as he thought of it, two years she'd been by his side, been through some tough times and good. Stood by him when he was put on trial, the faith she had for him was unimaginable. How in all of Cradle and the Land of reason he'd gotten someone like her he would not ever know. But in this moment, he knew there was only one answer to give.

Feeling the heat in his face from before growing hotter, Edgar smiled at her as he replied, "I would be honored to be your wife!"

The way her eyes got wide as her face darkened to a lovely shade of scarlet before she sighed and began to laugh let him know he wasn't going to be in trouble for teasing her like that. Raising his arms just enough he could grasp her upper arms, Edgar pulled Alice in and kissed her gently, letting it express everything he knew his words wouldn't. Glad when her hands settled over his heart as she hummed, pleased.

Shooting a glance to the side, he saw the small porcelain pot that he knew held the spiced honey and saw the symbol for the Queen of Hearts on it. Yeah, he'd be getting back at Jonah for this later since it was now obvious that his Queen had intentionally upset him after plotting with his now fiance.

THE END!
