Author's Note:
Please review! Apologies for the long wait, I've developed a rather annoying case of writer's block.
Draco immediately stiffened at Lyra's omission, a stoic mask taking over his pale face. He swallowed.
He finally spoke. " So then we are on the same side." He looked away, jaw clenched.
Lyra laughed, she did that alot he noticed. It was nice. " In more ways than you know, Malfoy."
Draco saw two possible ways this conversation could go, and instead of asking the millions of questions he had he only said, " What exactly do you mean by that?"
Lyra looked around cautiously, you learned to do that when you- Draco cut this thought off. Lyra wasn't- She couldn't be- No. Just no, it wasn't a possibility.
Finally she whispered, " Here the walls have ears, but in a forest, Friday at midnight they do not. And for that reason we are the ears in the trees."
His eyes widened and his shoulders relaxed slightly at the code phrase. They were in the same boat after all. They were both spying on Voldemort.
Draco stuck out his hand, causing Lyra to look at it in disbelief.
" Look, we're going to have to work together."
Lyra took his hand and shook it. "Fine."
Draco looked at her with a puzzled expression. " That's not everything, isn't it?"
" What do you mean by that."
" You being Snape's daughter, you spying for him, it's not everything, right? Your still not telling me everything."
"No, no I am not."
He didn't even bother asking her to tell him because he knew she wouldn't, and he was ok with that for the moment.
He nodded, accepting, for once, one of her half truths.
Draco found himself staring into her eyes, and to his surprise she was staring right back at his, but he didn't flinch. He simply stared deeper, and deeper into those emerald eyes-
Draco was sharply taken out of his daze by a low moan from Lyra. He turned his head quickly and was met with the sight of her clutching her left forearm, face contorted in pain.
He glanced down at his own, but if his mark was burning he would have felt it.
"What-"
Draco's question was cut off by the desperate shaking of her head.
Lyra shakily began to move down the hallway, barely managing to let out, " F-follow me."
So he followed, something he did rarely. He tried to ask his many burning questions, but was always quickly silenced by a shake of her head, so he remained silent.
Draco Malfoy did not follow, and Draco Malfoy did not stay quiet. But for her, he did. Not that he noticed it for quite some time, but Draco was falling for someone, someone completely off limits, someone who wasn't supposed to exist.
Once again, so sorry about the wait. Today's shoutout goes to Breedean for favoriting and following and reviewing! So thank you Breedean for showing your support! Stay safe!
