Previous chapter:
I feel the shift in Alice's emotions and know that she's going to attack my Bella. I rush toward her and tear her arm off before she has time to lunge. Alice screams in agony and drops to the floor. I smirk as I see the horrid look on Carlisle's face until I realize that he's not looking at me or Alice. He's looking at something behind us.
Jasper - JPOV
I turn around quickly and the scene behind me takes my breath away. Where Carlisle sees horror, I see sheer beauty. My Bella has Edward pinned down to the floor with her shield. The more Edward struggles against it, the more pressure Bella applies to it. I can see the cracks forming in his face and I move to her side while sending her all my love, pride, and desire. She's my perfect mate, the completion of my soul, my goddess of war.
I hug her from behind and place a kiss on top of her head. I hear her soft purr as I move my head to her neck and kiss my mark. I look down at Edward with a smirk on my face. He gives me a hateful glance, but I can feel the fear and disbelief that courses through his body. He doesn't fool me. The fact that Bella is sending out enormous amounts of disgust has me on edge. "What did he try to do, pumpkin?"
"He tried to kiss me."
I roar as Bella's words register in my mind. He tried to kiss my mate, my Bella. I send him a burst of the all-consuming anger that flows through my entire body. My vision clouds red as I grab him by his throat and I gradually apply more pressure. "You dared to kiss what is mine!? You dared to kiss a woman that is clearly mated to another vampire!? You must have a death wish."
I notice that Bella's shield is gone as Edward's hands grab mine in a desperate attempt to loosen my hold. It's a feeble attempt, to say the least. A weakling like him is no match for me. Bella moves to my side again and I groan as her hand starts to travel up and down my back. "What are we going to do with him now, darlin'?"
Bella purrs at my display of power and I greedily take in her emotions as I increase the hold on Edward even more. My Bella loves a powerful male, that's for sure. I roll my eyes when I hear Carlisle say: "Jasper, please, stop this madness. Let Edward go. He just needs time to come to terms with this and so does Alice. Leave! Take Bella with you. We won't get in your way."
I throw Edward into a large tree and turn to face Carlisle.
"I don't want them near us ever again, Carlisle. If I as much as catch a glimpse of them, they're dead. Give us an hour to pack up my stuff and then we'll be on our way. I won't tell you where we're going. Don't come looking for us. We're our own coven now."
My gaze shifts to Rosalie and Emmett and a small pang of sorrow finds its way through my body. Rosalie moves to Emmett's side and takes his hand. I can see her staring at the ring on Bella's finger. After a moment she looks at me and says:
"That ring on Bella's finger tells me everything I need to know. She clearly loves you more than anything because she would have never agreed to marry Edward if he had asked. I'm also quite certain that the ring has a story and is older than you are, Jasper. For you to give it to Bella proves to me that she truly is your true love. You deserve your happily ever after. Emmett and I wish you all the luck in the world. We would love to still call you both our brother and sister. Come find us when the time is right."
I give her a loving smile while Emmett lifts her up and spins her around, before kissing her lovingly on the head. Rose whispers something in his ear and then they rush deep into the forest. I turn to Bella and see her smiling lovingly in the direction that Emmett and Rosalie left. Emmett will always be her big brother. Peter has some serious competition in that department and he's not going to like that. I place a kiss on her head and say: "Let's go, darlin'.
Bella - BPOV
I nod and turn my back on the ones that I thought were my family. I realize instantly that it doesn't bother me at all. I smile brightly as Jasper and I run back to the main house to pack his stuff. I really don't care that Carlisle kicked us out, just because Edward couldn't face the truth. I don't care at all. Why would I? I've got the most amazing mate in the whole world and that's all I need to be truly happy.
Jasper's display of power made me love him even more. He is a man, not a seventeen-year-old boy. He can protect me from all the bad in the world without even blinking an eye. God, he is so sexy. I slow my pace a little and watch his delicious ass as he runs to the house at full speed. I can feel my lust spiking. I just know that I will never get enough of him. I sigh contently as the warm feeling of love spreads throughout my body and close my eyes for just a fraction of a second.
The next moment I'm on the forest floor with Jasper hovering over me, his eyes are pitch-black, and I can feel the lust rolling off him in tsunami-like waves. I moan as he grinds his hard member into my hot center, but it's his husky voice that almost makes me come undone. "Fuck, darlin', you're so naughty. Staring at my ass and sending me all that lust. I don't know if I should spank you or fuck you. We're kind of on a tight schedule here."
I can't suppress the moan that escapes from my lips as he mentions the word spank. He smirks and I can see the triumph in his eyes as he says: "Oh, you're a very bad girl. Would you like that, Bella? Do you imagine yourself bent over my knees while I smack that beautiful ass of yours? Do you want me to be rough with you?" I know that my emotions are telling him all that he needs to know, and I can feel his member hardening even more as a result of it.
I whimper as he pulls away from me and confusion washes over me. He takes out his phone and glances at it briefly. He sighs and I look at him questioningly. He takes my hand and pulls me back up before saying: "Peter wants us to leave immediately. I don't know why, but as you know already it's not smart to ignore him. We will continue this when we reach our new home, Bella Whitlock. You can bet on it."
I scowl a little but know that he's right. Peter hasn't steered me wrong and even though I only met him hours ago, I know that he would never do anything to hurt Jasper or me. He is Jasper's brother and I hope that he will be my brother too. We run the short distance that is left and enter the house via the front door. We make our way into his study and Jasper pulls out a few trunks from behind the door. He fills them with the books and all the Civil war memorabilia from his study. He doesn't even go into his old bedroom and stays far away from the closet.
I move to the window and stare into the distance. I think of everything that I have to leave behind and panic overwhelms me as realization sets in. What are we going to tell Charlie? Jasper moves over to me and hugs me from behind. He sends me his love and I send him mine in return. "What's wrong, pumpkin?"
"I can't go back home and see my dad, Jasper. He will be coming home from his fishing trip soon and I won't be there. How are we going to handle this? The plan we come up with has to be believable or he will become suspicious. He will never give up looking for me then."
Jasper – JPOV
I can feel Bella's sadness as she thinks about her dad but what she said got me thinking. She's right; we need to come up with a solid plan. Bella's father is as perceptive as she is and he would know when something was off instantly. I quickly go through several possibilities in my head, only to be interrupted by my phone once again. I pick up the phone and catch Bella smiling as she hears me say: "What's up, Peter?"
"My knower is telling me that you need to leave her car by the side of the road, somewhere near a meadow of some sorts. Bella will know what I mean. Take the bloody clothes from her change, they're in the trash can in the garage, and shred them to pieces. Leave the clothes in the forest somewhere along the way to the meadow. It will look like she was mauled by a bear and dragged off. She has to leave a note at her house stating that she had a fight with Edward and that she went for a drive and a walk to think. She can't take anything from her house. If her favorite belongings are not there, her father will know that something is off. This is the only way; all other plans will look suspicious without a body to back it up. You got that, Major?"
"Yes, captain, I got it. I can't thank you enough, Peter. You're..."
"Don't go all mush on me now, Major. Get moving. You don't have much time before Bella's daddy returns from his trip."
I snicker as I end the call and pull Bella close for a hug. She relaxes against me and I can help but smile as I put my nose in her hair and inhale her delicious scent. "Are you ready to start our life together, darlin'?"
"I'm ready, Jasper. You're all I need. I know Charlie will be heartbroken and I wish that I could have spent more time with him. Edward took that away from me and I'll never forgive him for that. Staging my death seems harsh, but I know that it's the only way if I want Charlie to move on. I can't have him hoping that I will come home someday."
I kiss her softly, before lifting the trunks and carrying them down to my truck. I run to the garage and pull Bella's old clothes from the garbage can. I put them in a plastic bag and throw them in the back of Bella's truck. Bella is already waiting for me by her truck. "Will you be okay driving it, darlin'?"
She nods and gets behind the wheel. I start my truck and follow as she drives to the spot that Peter mentioned. She parks her truck by the side of the road and takes the bag with bloody clothes. I park my car next to hers and quickly rush to her side. We run into the forest and I watch as Bella shreds her clothes and drops them on the floor unceremoniously. She lets out a sigh and hides her face in my chest. I hug her close and kiss the top of her head. I snicker as she mumbles in my shirt: "I love you so much, Jasper."
My Bella is the most amazing vampire I've ever seen in my entire existence. Her compassion and love never cease to amaze me. I'm the luckiest man on this entire planet for this stunning woman is mine. "I love you too, my Bella."
I take her hand as we run back to the cars. Bella gives her beat-up red track a last loving glance as she gets into the passenger seat of mine. I turn my truck around and speed toward Bella's house. There are only a few hours left until the Chief comes home and I want to be a fair distance from Forks by then.
I park the truck down the street from Bella's house and we run the distance at vampire speed. If anyone was watching the house they wouldn't have noticed us entering at all. Bella moves to the kitchen to leave the note on the refrigerator, before making her way to her bedroom. She sits down on her bed and takes a long last look at her room. I wait for her in the doorway and notice how her eyes linger on the stack of books that is on her desk. She moves over to them and caresses the top one with her hand. I move to her quickly and whisper in her ear: "I'll buy you all the books that you want, pumpkin. You will never want for anything. It's my life's mission to make you happy."
I purr contently as Bella's undying love and devotion hit me. She turns around in my arms and kisses me passionately, before saying: "How did I ever get this lucky?"
I snicker and say: "I'm the lucky one in this relationship, darlin'" as I pull her in for another kiss. The sound of a car driving by reminds us of the fact that we're short on time. Bella moves downstairs in a blink of an eye without looking back at her room. I rush downstairs too and find her staring at some pictures on the wall. Her hand moves to stroke one of the pictures as she whispers: "I love you, dad. I know that I'm asking a lot, but please move on. I wish that you could meet Jasper. He makes me so happy and I couldn't ask for a better man. He will love me for eternity, dad. He will protect me, just like you always did."
A heart-ranching sob escapes from Bella's lips and I gently sweep her up in my arms. I kiss her hair as I carry her toward my truck at vampire speed and place her in the passenger seat. I send her all my love, pride, and devotion as I get behind the wheel and start the car. My eyes scan the forest behind me when I register a strange mix of emotions, but they vanish before I can analyze them. It's time to get out of Forks, that's for sure. Bella moves to lean against my shoulder and I take her hand in mine as we drive off.
