Aether's New Home

Debbie arrived at the house, dragging a broken Nokia TV inside. It had been gutted.

"That's..." I spat out.

"Nathan?" Debbie replied. "The one your fan friend asked for?"

I think I saw Aether smiling. Was it just me or did Aether's teeth look a little sharp.

I decided to take Aether to one of our weekly meetings. Debbie and Pierce stood on the table, cord in cord, while they waited for us to arrive.

Well, I had a hunch that Pierce and Debbie were a couple. They'd spend a lot of time in Master's workroom, forming plans. I told them I wanted vengeance for Cordelia's death.

Debbie smiled and pulled a pen out of a drawer.

"We'll need a plan of attack," She said. Pierce pushed a sheet of paper in front of her. "Marshall is a G5 and powerful enough to dismantle another Kirby."

I looked up at the desk.

"So, that's where I come in?" I asked.

Debbie set the pen down.

"You can distract him. And then I'll take his motor."

I wheeled out to the living room. Aether sat on the coffee table.

Oracle followed me.

"Is this where you've been hiding?" he asked me. "This house?

I nodded.

"Should we show you around?" Oracle asked.

Aether nodded.

Aether flew up to the kitchen counter. A toaster, just as damaged as he was, sat on the counter. "Meet Web." I said.

"Attic... too dusty!" Web said. "Spiders... good."

Aether shuddered.

Web pointed one of his levers at the radio sitting beside the dish rack. "She... too."

A horrific noise filled the air; a mix of music and garbled speech. "And who's she?" Aether asked.

"Mumble." Web said. "Earned... name... very well."

The bathroom was our next stop. Aether nearly got his cord bitten off by a curling iron.

"Vanity, stop that!" I said.

"Another refugee?" She purred. "How sweet."

Aether shuddered. "Will I be as crazy as they are?"

Oracle shook her head. "It depends."

Aether chose his new room. Master had an office upstairs.

From what I hear, his desk lamp was not the kindest appliance.
