THE LAKESIDE KILLER

A/N: As promised... here's the second part.

The conclusion – Part 2

Jane's POV

His nerves were on edge. The only sounds in the room were the air conditioning humming, the ceiling fan whirring, and Cho tapping his phone repeatedly on his thigh. It was now almost 8 pm and Green still hadn't left his house. He put his teacup on the table and it made a clinking sound. Kim and Cho looked at him, but Teresa kept her eyes averted, intent on not looking his way once in the last two hours since their earlier argument. Her stiff spine and clenched jaw were all the proof he needed that she was probably going over their argument the same as he was.

He wanted to lay on the couch and think, but Cho had taken residence on the other end. Kim was still watching the feeds on the laptops with Teresa by her side. They were taking turns monitoring the lack of activity. He closed his eyes and tried to clear his mind, but couldn't, all he could think about was her. He took a deep breath.

He'd only been thinking about getting close to her, being with her, letting his libido and heart take the reins the last couple of days. He's most definitely in love with Teresa, he knew that much, but he hadn't considered the impact of becoming lovers on their relationship. It was all fun and games until reality came calling in the form of Pike and her new job in D.C. The fact that she was still going to D.C. made his heart ache and he hated the feeling. They wouldn't be able to continue their relationship, between his schedule and hers, not to mention all the travel involved in both their jobs; they'd never see each other, and she seemed to be okay with that. It was a bitter pill to swallow when he realized that she was willing to follow Pike to D.C. to make their relationship work, a guy she'd just met just a few weeks ago, but she wouldn't stay in Austin for him.

His emotions were all over the place, from happiness, contentment, to anxiety, jealousy, and anger all in the span of a few days. He felt out of control and he hated it. His last relationship was with his wife and it had been quite drama-free, he couldn't remember a single argument between them, they just seemed to always get along. A few days into a romantic relationship with Teresa and they were already arguing. I guess he shouldn't have expected different, they did bicker quite a bit as partners and friends. He was so sure that once he told her he loved her she would stay. And he hated to admit it, but he was worried that Pike still had a chance with her, especially once she was in D.C. He pushed the thought from his mind and watched her.

She was beautiful in a way that was unique. She was a firecracker in a small package. He loved her feistiness and take-charge personality.

She removed the elastic tie from her hair and passed her hand through her thick mane of dark locks. A kick of lust hit him in the groin. She bent down to pick up her pen that fell under her chair and the small of her back peeked through her shorts and tank-top and he almost groaned out loud. Everything about her was sexy and beautiful to him. From her big green eyes to her pouty lips to her cute toes. He was falling more and more in love with her with every passing day. It felt good and terrifying at the same time. He missed her… he just wanted to hold her. He watched her openly, not caring who saw.

Cho's phone rang; it was Wiley reporting more useless info. Lisbon suddenly got up and headed to the washroom. He took a quick look at Fischer, she was busy looking at a satellite image Lisbon had been reviewing. Satisfied that they were otherwise occupied, he went to find Lisbon. The boathouse consisted of a living area with a bedroom and washroom tucked at the back, out of sight, so he felt confident that they could have a bit of privacy to talk quickly. He waited outside the door.

"Jane!" she startled when she saw him and clutched her chest. "What are you doing there?"

Without missing a beat, he framed her face and kissed her passionately only pausing to tell her between kisses that he loved her and missed her. She kissed him back muttering her own 'I love yous'.

"I don't want to argue anymore," he whispered.

She continued to kiss him, pressing herself against him.

"Same."

He pushed her back into the washroom and closed the door. Her eyes popped open in surprise and she smiled wickedly.

"Jane, we can't! They'll know something is up."

He leaned in slowly, letting her see his mischievous smile as he bypassed her lips and blew on her neck. He tasted her skin with his tongue, the saltiness of her sweat filling his senses. He applied his lips and heard her moan, then sucked gently, then hard. Her body bucked against his and he smiled against her skin.

"Still no?"

"We can't," she chuckled, moving her hands under his shirt.

He smiled and shoved his hand in her shorts. Her eyes widened then hooded with lust as he inserted his fingers inside her. Her eyes closed, and her hands held the arm that was in her shorts, and she moaned again. Her sweet mewling as he stroked her was driving him crazy. He captured her mouth to keep her quiet as she came against his hand.

"Change your mind?" he asked, pulling his hand out of her shorts.

Her eyes were heavy with lust, her lips swollen from his kiss. He was enjoying himself, watching her get drunk on what he was doing to her. He was painfully hard now and he had to wrap up his little game before someone came looking for them.

Before he could speak again, she grabbed his head and pulled his mouth to hers. Their tongues were dueling, and he couldn't get enough of her taste. Right now, Cho and Fischer could walk in and he wouldn't be able to stop. Teresa was stroking him, his shorts already around his ankles. His brain turned off, his entire body focused on just one cause… to have her.

He turned her around quickly and pulled her shorts down as she gripped the sink. He entered her, groaning his pleasure in the nape of her neck, his entire body tensing as electric shots bolted through it. He buried himself deeper feeling liquid heat course through his veins. He shuddered with need and thrusted slowly, his face pressing against her hair flowing down her back. He took a deep breath, inhaling her scent, trying to control himself, then he looked up and saw her watching them in the mirror above the sink.

They could only see their upper bodies and he cupped her breast under her shirt and started thrusting faster. He was turned on by what he saw… her eyes shimmering pools of lust, her lips swollen and parted and her hand reaching back, clutching in his hair. She pushed back against him, encouraging him to take her faster and harder, their hot eyes glued to the image they made in the mirror. He felt naked in his emotions, unable to hide from her gaze. He brought his lips to her ear and told her he loved her over and over again as he watched her react to his words of love. She squeezed her eyes shut and he saw tears leaking on her cheeks. He felt overwhelmed with love for her. He stimulated her and whispered in her ear 'Come for me, I want to watch you.' She bit her lip as she came apart, taking him with her. He came hard, stifling his own moans by gently biting her shoulder, spilling himself inside her.

He was panting hard, his breathing sporadic. He hugged her to him tightly before pulling out. They dressed quickly, knowing they needed to move fast to not get caught. Teresa finished first. He checked his watch… not bad… they'd only been gone 10 minutes.

She grabbed his face and kissed him fiercely.

"I love you," she said, looking in his eyes.

"I love you, too," he responded, kissing her swollen lips, she tasted so good.

"I'm going to go out first," she said with a smile and kissed him again. "I love you."

He returned her smile, feeling content again.

"I love you, more," he whispered to her retreating back.

When he walked back into the living area, Lisbon was back in her chair watching the screens with Fischer, and Cho was tossing a ball up and catching it. He went into the kitchen to make himself some more tea and peeked at her to see how she faired after their lovemaking. She slowly turned, and he caught her gaze; she scrunched her nose and gave him a half-smile before turning back to the screens. He loved that smile.

He sat back on the couch smiling broadly; he couldn't wipe it off his face.

"He's on the move," Fischer announced.

Cho got up and joined her at the table. He took that opportunity to reclaim his position on the couch and laid down. He must have been asleep for a while because it was pitch black when he opened his eyes again and he could hear the team chatting excitedly. Something was wrong.

"What's going on?" he asked, groggily.

"He's been riding around for an hour and a half. He slowed down a few times, but not enough for us to say for sure if there's something there. But his boat just stopped at an island," Cho explained.

"Wiley says there's a hunter's cabin on that island. He came across it when he was going through satellite images," said Kim. "The boat is stopped near it."

"Let me see," he asked. "Do you have images?"

"It's been thirteen minutes," said Lisbon on the phone. "Wiley, can you calculate how long it would take for him to walk to the cabin?"

Fischer gave him the satellite image. It was secluded.

"This is the perfect place to take his victims," he said, thinking out loud.

"Yeah, that's what we thought when we first saw it," said Fischer.

"He's not visiting his victims tonight, he's getting ready to kill again. He's prepping for his new one," he continued.

Three pairs of eyes focused on him.

"One of Wickshaw's girls," said Fischer.

"No," he said biting his lip, frowning. "Lisbon."

"What makes you say that?" asked Fischer.

He looked at Lisbon and held her gaze, softly pleading with her to be understanding. She was frowning but didn't appear worried. She was so stoic… so brave. His heart swelled with love and pride. She was a tough agent, one of the best. He'd always enjoyed working with her… Abbott wasn't using her to her full potential, she should be leading her own team… like the one in D.C. His heart constricted. She deserved that job and she would be so great at it.

He looked at Fischer to answer her question.

"He told me last night at the party. I didn't want you to overreact and pull Lisbon from the case. I was sure that I could find another clue to help us find the victims." – He looked back at Lisbon. – "He was watching you on the boat all day today. He could barely keep his eyes off of you. I don't think he feels in control right now and he'll want to fix that. It's very risky to come after you… he knows that, but still he's willing to break his pattern. I think he's been driving around out there trying to convince himself to either take you or not. I think watching you interact with Hanna is what is making him want to take the risk. I doubt his other victims knew John's girls… but you've been very close to Hanna these last few days… I think you've become part of the fantasy, not just a stand-in like his other victims. Every time you were with her today, he got very… excited. His pupils would dilate, and he'd adjust himself."

"Jane…" Lisbon said quietly… too quietly.

He could read the disappointment on her face that he had withheld this information from her followed by a flash of sadness in the depths of her eyes. The taste in his mouth soured. He watched her swallow, her lips pursed tightly. Then her eyes narrowed in determination.

"This is the break we need," she said to Kim and Cho. "Let's give him what he wants and catch him in the act."

His heart stopped.

"You're not putting yourself out there as bait!" he said in disbelief.

Lisbon ignored him.

"He'll have to come for me in the bunkhouse. We'll head over there and wait. If he doesn't come tonight, we'll give him a reason to come tomorrow. Right now, we just have to hope that he wants me enough to come," she said grabbing her gun from the lockbox.

"Lisbon are you sure about this?" Kim asked.

She nodded as she put her gun in the waist of her shorts.

"We'll go together," she said to Cho and Fischer.

All three of them were moving fast, grabbing communication equipment, their guns, their vests, making calls, making plans. His heart was galloping. He didn't want her in the line of danger. He couldn't lose her.

"You can't do this Lisbon," he said, walking up to her.

"I'm doing it, Jane. It's the best way to catch him."

"No, it's not! There's another way. Just give me a chance to figure it out."

"There's no time," she said, strapping on her vest.

"Fischer, you can't let her do this," he pleaded.

"Jane, it's her choice. It's a good plan."

He grabbed Lisbon's arm gently.

"You can't go in there. You can't do this," he said urgently.

She was prepping her gun and handcuffs.

"It's my job, Jane. Now move out of the way," she said shuffling past him and grabbing a coms.

He moved back in front of her.

"I can't let you do this. It's too dangerous! He's been thinking about ways to hurt you for days. He has a plan. He can hurt you badly. You can't do this!" he said sternly.

"You don't tell me what to do Jane. This is my job!" she spat in frustration.

As she made to leave behind Fischer, he followed close behind.

"What are you doing?" she asked.

"Coming with you."

"Jane, you can't come. You have to stay here," she nodded at Cho and before he knew it, he had handcuffed him to the chair.

"That will buy us some time," Cho said as he left with Lisbon and Fischer.

"Don't do this! Please."

His phone buzzed. It was a group text from Wiley… 'He just docked. Hurry.'

His mind was racing. He had to stop Green from getting to the bunkhouse. He picked the lock and released the handcuffs. Then he slipped out the front and around to the back to the cabana. He forced himself to relax when he heard rustling in the bushes.

Green was surprised to see him standing there.

"Patrick, what are you doing out here?"

"Just getting some air. It's hot in the bunkhouse. Coming for a visit with John?"

Green eyed him suspiciously then smiled broadly.

"You know Patrick, I really like you, but you have a habit of being in the way, you know that?"

Jane saw the gun then and swallowed over the panic in his chest. He had to lead him away from Lisbon. This was already enough to get him arrested and grounds for a search warrant he was sure of it. Green put the gun in his back and indicated for him to walk up the path.

"You say a word and I'll shoot you, you hear me?"

He would have to wait until he was in earshot to yell his warning to Lisbon.

Lisbon's POV

She was laying in bed with Cho, Fischer was stationed in a dark corner by the door. They had just got word from Wiley that Green had parked his boat at an old dock near Wickshaw's property line. The surveillance cameras were obstructed by the trees, but there was a path from behind the cabana that leads to the lake and Wiley thought that he might be coming through there.

Her heart was racing. They weren't sure how he would enter the bunkhouse. Her gun was in her hand beneath the sheet. It was hot as usual, even with the window open. They'd shut off the pedestal fan and put the ceiling fan on low, so they could hear Green approach. Her hand was starting to sweat on her gun.

She held her breath. Green would be near now. They had to cut communication with Wiley, not able to risk being overheard. It was coming up on midnight, so Green would assume that they were asleep.

"He's got a gun," she heard Jane shout from outside.

Her blood went cold. They rushed the door all together to look outside. Green had a gun pointed at Jane.

Cho opened the door a crack.

"Green, you're surrounded. We're FBI, so is Patrick. Let him go."

"You son of a bitch, son of a bitch. You set me up!" he yelled and pistol-whipped Jane in the back and he fell on his knees with a loud grunt.

Jane was in danger, again. Trouble always found him. She needed to save him. Green was going to shoot him.

"I'm going to kill him. Back off," he yelled, then pulled Jane to his feet and started walking back towards the path with him.

She followed Cho out the door with Fischer close behind her, guns drawn. They pursued Green down the path, he was in a dead run now with his gun pointed at Jane in front of him. They caught up to him, but it was dark and hard to see. Green had grabbed Jane again. They couldn't risk taking a shot and hitting Jane. Green had his arm around Jane's neck and kept pulling him back using him as a shield.

"Let him go, Bentley," she shouted. "You can end this now and no one will get hurt."

"You bitch! You were supposed to be mine tonight! Cock teasing me all this time. I'm going to kill your boyfriend here."

"He's not my boyfriend, Bentley. He's an FBI agent, undercover."

"No way. You're fucking, I saw you. You want to save your boyfriend? Drop your gun and come with me. We can make a nice trade and go for a little ride in my boat."

Her mind was racing. He'd been watching her and Jane. She had to keep a level head. She was the closest to Bentley right now and she was leading.

"Can't do that, Bentley. You're surrounded. A team is on its way right now. If you don't surrender, you will be killed. Release Patrick right now and you won't get hurt."

She couldn't make out Jane's expression, his features obscured in the darkness.

She nodded imperceptibly to Cho. He immediately understood what she wanted, she'd trained him after all and he broke formation and moved slowly towards the other side of Green. Fischer created a diversion so Green wouldn't notice Cho, by moving slowly, but just enough to keep his attention.

"Don't move you bitch! Stay where I can see you."

Green kept retreating and she and Fischer kept advancing. She kept hoping that the moon would break through the tree cover and give her a view of Jane's face. He wasn't talking and that concerned her. Her wish came true a few moments later and she got a glimpse of Jane; Green had him in a tight chokehold. He couldn't speak because his windpipe was being crushed by the muscular man.

She saw the glint of the moon on the water ahead and knew they were close to his boat. She couldn't let him take Jane on the boat, they would lose their advantage.

Cho came out a clearing behind Green.

Green heard him and whipped around with Jane.

Cho couldn't take the shot.

She aimed at his chest, but he turned his gun on her and shot at the same time.

She saw the panic on Jane's face. Cho running. Fischer grabbing her.

Green falling down.

Jane being pulled by Green's grip on him down on top of him.

Pain lanced through her body. She was hit, she just didn't know where.

Cho secured Green.

Jane rolled off, holding his neck, and crawled towards her.

Fischer hovered over her, checking her leg.

Blood was on her hand. She looked down.

The bullet had gone straight through the fleshy part of her thigh. Her leg burned and felt stiff, but she knew it wasn't that bad. Jane's voice came into focus, it was gravelly and hoarse. His eyes searching hers, his tone panicked.

"Ar- you -kay?" he said grabbing at his throat.

"I'm okay, Jane. I'm okay," she said panting, the pain lancing and cutting off her breathing intermittently.

She turned to Cho.

"Cho! Are you okay?"

"Yeah. Green is down, but he'll recover," he said as he came to check on her. "You got him in the arm."

Sirens started wailing and a helicopter could be heard in the distance. Fischer was on coms with Wiley and Abbott coordinating the medics and apprehension and recovery teams.

Jane sat beside her, took off his shirt, and put it on her leg to stem the bleeding. The fear and worry on his face were palatable.

"Are you okay," she asked. He was in rough shape.

He nodded, his face contorting with worry.

"What happened? How did Green get you?"

He looked at her, chagrin on his face and she knew. He'd gone after Green himself.

"Jane, no! What were you thinking… you could have gotten yourself killed?"

"- didn't wa-nt you - get hurt," he croaked out.

She saw tears in his eyes as he stared at her. He was in pain. It was dark, but she was sure that his throat was swelling. And he'd also been pistol-whipped.

"Sor-ry. Scre-wed up… m- fau-lt," he said, his voice choppy and breaking from his injury.

"Jane… please. Don't do this to yourself. I'm going to be okay. I love you. Green shot me, not you. Look at me. I love you. I'm okay. It doesn't even hurt that much," she lied.

She didn't care who overheard her anymore. She could see Jane unraveling and she was worried. He was going in shock; his teeth were chattering. He'd been in a chokehold for quite some time, he could have internal bleeding. As she called Fischer over to check on Jane, he passed out.

A/N: So I hope that was worth waiting for. Part 3 is next. Jane and Lisbon have been through a lot. Unfortunately, we all know that Jane doesn't deal well with his feelings over the danger in Lisbon's job and his fear of losing her and he's going to get a little squirrely.
