GiddyReflections: Ehehehe yup. XD
LunaWolf44: Yeah, Lena's way too oblivious! :O
Also I'm hyped for the next Mandalorian episode EEEEEEEEEEEK. LIKE, IS DARTH VADER BEING CLONED?! OH. MY. GOSH. And Baby Yoda needs to stop eating the eggs of that extinct species, smh. LIKE BRUH. OH, and is Cara coming back anytime soon? I ship Cara and Mando. :D THE SHOW'S JUST SOOOOO GOOD! (AND THIS IS COMING FROM A TREKKIE... OwO. Oh, speaking of Star Trek, when's the release date for the new season of Star Trek Discovery? Or did it already come out? Haha I'm so random.)
Anyways, enjoy!
"Hey, June, ya coming?" Louie asked, strapping his backpack over his shoulder. Huey was holding a map in one hand, and a compass in the other, staring into the forest.
"So...I guess we're going there...again..." Huey blinked.
Lena grinned, "Except this time, it's double the risks. Get caught, and who knows what'll happen to us?"
Louie gave her a confused glance.
"Eh, I was kidding." Lena shrugged.
"Oooh, was that your plan? Intimidate us first so we'd be less scared? Smart." Louie commented. With each breath Lena took, June could feel her temper rise. Even though the day was windy and chilly, June felt nothing but the fire blazing inside of her. Even when she tried to tear them apart, they just seemed to get closer. In fact, the more she interfered, the worse it got:
"Oh wait." June said, "We can't go, because Lena forgot the compass!" She lied. She turned over to where Huey was and mouthed a threat at him. Huey shoved the compass back inside the bag without arguing. June looked at the teen smugly.
"Oh, that's okay. I'll just make another one." Lena said, putting her hands together to form a glowing shadow compass."
"Woah, you can do that too?" Louie asked, looking at the compass in awe. June smacked her forehead with her palm. This already wasn't going well.
"So, are you coming?" Louie said, (thankfully) changing the subject.
June told him, "You go ahead, I'll catch up." On one wing, she wanted to stay behind for Gos, but on the other, she actually wanted to go along to monitor Lena...you know...JUUUUST IN CASE...
June yelped as her phone rang. Reaching into her pocket, she picked up:
"GOSALYN! Where are you?!"
"Where you want me to be, June." Gosalyn grinned on the other side.
"So, are the wheels in motion?"
"Yup!"
June rolled her eyes, "No, like, literally, did you bike into the forest?"
"Yup. Now all I have to do, is beat Louie, April, Huey, and Lena in finding the camera with the footage of Gladstone and Magica." Gosalyn paused, "Wait, why are we doing this again?"
"The reason doesn't matter!"
"Well, if you're going to be so rude about it, then I guess-"
"Oh, what's this? Gosalyn Mallard slipped out of detention? AGAIN?!" June put her hands on her cheeks, "OH HEAVENS! IMAGINE WHAT WILL HAPPEN WHEN HER FATHER HEARS ABOUT THIS!"
Gosalyn narrowed her eyes, "You wouldn't DARE.."
"Oh, but I would...or would I? Naaaaaah..."
Gosalyn relaxed.
"...I would! Nah. Wait, I would! Nah. I would! No. Yes! No! Yes! Hmmm..." June smirked, putting a finger on her chin innocently.
"Just tell me!"
"Care to ditch me and find out?" June dared. She told her, "Just so what I tell you, and all your dirty secrets will be safe and sound with me." She put a hand on her chest when she said "me."
"You're sick." Gosalyn grumbled.
"And that's why I'm the evil triplet."
"Whatever." Gosalyn closed her phone. June tossed hers back into her hoodie pocket. The yellow-clad duckling looked around, walking into the forest. She spotted Louie and Lena not far, chatting animatedly. April bounced behind on all fours, growling like a watchdog. She buried her beak into the ground and sniffed, then started barking at June.
"Shhh! Shhh! Good..." She snickered, "Airhead...dog..."
This just made April more upset. She started barking louder, her beak pulled back in a snarl.
"Yeah, that probably wasn't the best idea...um...well..." She laughed nervously, "Easy...April...dog...thing..."
April cocked her head.
"Yeah...that's it...just...stay...away...from me..." She laughed awkwardly, taking slow steps back. She glanced at Lena, Louie, and Huey, who were almost out of view. June reached for the stick ahead of her, throwing it. April ran after it, barking.
June let out a sigh of relief, smirking, "Not today, sis." The duckling in yellow ran after them, also keeping an eye out for the camera Lena had mentioned, and for Magica or Gladstone.
"Any sign or Magica or Gladstone?" Huey asked.
"Nope, not yet." Lena replied. She smiled, "Everything's going as planned."
June growled, "I'll wipe that smirk right of your face just you see Lena, just you-!" At that moment, she heard the leaves rustle behind her, spotting a faint glimpse of a black dress in the distance, and a flash of pastel green
Magica and Gladstone! June thought.
"Ok, think this was the one." Lena said, stopping next to a bush. Just as Huey was about to reach in and grab the camera, something swooped down from the sky like a hawk and grabbed it.
"What the..?" Louie blinked.
Gosalyn.
The redheaded duckling whooped, flying on her glider, "WHOOOOOOOOOO!"
June smiled.
But her happiness lasted less than two seconds.
Gosalyn crashed straight into a tree.
June seethed, "DO I HAVE TO DO EVERYTHING MYSELF?! FINE!" She rushed over to the crash, not even bothering to look if Gosalyn was okay. She reached for the camera.
"Rude. You could at least help me out." Gosalyn said, taking her helmet off and trying to wiggle out of the torn glider. Louie reached for it first, grabbing it before her. June screamed, "NO!" She tackled him, trying to steal the camera from him.
"June? What's gotten into you?" Louie asked, tugging on one end of the camera.
"Nothing? What about you?!" June replied, tugging vigorously on the other end.
"Let..go...!"
"Why should I? So you can remember all the good times you had with 'new favorite' friend? All the time you spent...WITHOUT ME?!"
"I invited you along!" Louie argued.
"Oh yeah, like I'm coming when SHE'S HERE!" June allowed herself to let go of the camera with one hand and point at Lena.
"Why do you just hate her so much! What did she ever do to you!"
"She STOLE from me?"
"Oh yeah?" Lena raised her voice, the argument now getting even more heated. June thought it was a miracle Magica and Gladstone didn't hear them, "WHAT DID I STEAL THEN, HUH?!"
June glared at her, and with utmost certainty, she replied, "Louie. You stole Louie."
Lena stepped back in surprise.
"Look, June, you're my best friend. And you always will be. But I have other friends too."
June scoffed. She yanked harder on the camera, but as soon as Louie let go, it went flying in the air. It landed next to April, who swallowed it, and barked dumbly. She scratched her head with her feet.
Everyone stared wide-eyed at April until June broke the silence:
"You know what, keep the stupid camera. It's not worth it. Nothing I do can drag you two farther apart. It just brings you two closer, like magnets that attract, while we repel."
Louie's mouth felt dry.
"Gos, get up." June looked back at them, "Magica and Gladstone are coming. You should be able to sneak away with the footage. Good luck." June stalked away.
"Come on, we got the footage...er...at least, technically we did...let's bail." Lena hissed. Louie, April, and Huey followed her out of the forest.
—- Meanwhile—
Magica looked around, startled, "Did...you hear something?"
Gladstone blinked, "Uh, no?"
"Funny...thought I heard something..." Magica shrugged and said casually, "Oh well, guess my crows won't be able to feast on anyone's intestines today..."
Gladstone looked horrified.
— Lena—-
Lena grinned, holding a camera slimy with spit, "LOOK WHAT APRIL COUGHED UP!" She shoved the camera in Louie's face excitedly, "Just wait until Gladstone and Magica home. Oh, sweet, sweet revenge."
April, now that the effects of the sugar had worn off, was talking to Huey, outraged.
"I DID WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!"
Huey shielded his face as sounds of stuff crashing against the wall came from the room next to them, "DON'T SHOOT THE MESSENGER!"
"..." Louie held in a laugh. Lena got up.
"Where are you going? Gladstone and Magica are going to be back in just a few minutes. You don't want to miss this, do you?"
"Hold on. There's still one more thing I have to do." Lena walked outside, climbing the stairs and knocking on the door of a room.
"Come in, Lou-" She broke off once she noticed who it was, "Ew! What do you want?" June snapped from the other side.
"To apologize to you. Listen, Yellow or whatever your name is: You're not Louie's friend."
"Wow, thanks. Helped a lot." June said sarcastically.
"...Because you're something more. And he knows that. You're just the only one who doesn't realize." Lena said, closing the door behind her. "And I get if you don't want me to befriend him. I do."
June blinked slowly.
"But you don't have to miss out on everything because you hate me. You should be out there, with Louie. So you go ahead, and I'll just wait upstairs."
June opened the door, "Fine. I guess you can come with me. But only because you paid me." She crossed her arms, stuck her beak in the air, flipped her pigtails, and walked away. Lena grinned as she leaned against the wall.
Then the doorbell rang.
MEEP GLADSTONE STILL HASN'T BEEN EXPOSED.
WHAT HAVE I BEEN DOING WITH MY LIFE?!
*me two hours ago: petting Peep and watching him peck at my fingernails*
As you can see, I'm a very busy person. XD XD XD
