Jacob

"Don't come a step closer." The girl's voice was firm. "Not unless you want me to snap her neck."

The girl had slipped away. The fortune telling bloodsucker had found us. She said that she'd seen Bella dead. Seth had howled. The bloodsucker had forgotten to mention that howling was the only thing Bella was supposed to come out of the house for. We had combed the woods, looking for Bella and the girl. We had found them.

"Don't hurt her." The mind reading bloodsucker all but growled the words. He took one step forward. I wanted to rip his throat out.

The girl tightened her grip on Bella's throat, and Bella gasped. I growled.

The doctor stepped to the front. The girl didn't blink. She took slow, analyzing breaths. Any doubts we'd had about her being able to smell as well as we could were gone.

"We don't want to hurt you. You don't have to hurt her. If you tell us what's wrong, we can help you."

Is he bluffing? Seth was confused.

He had better be. I'm not helping her. Leah's sediment was echoed by the rest of the pack. We were almost all here.

"You can't help me. You can't help her either. It's too late." Her voice was firm, but sad. Did she not want to kill Bella?

"What's your name?" The doctor was distracting her.

"Ellie. I guess you know who you're gonna kill." She smirked.

"Why would we kill you, Ellie?" Ellie tilted her head, as if asking 'are you serious'.

"Well, most people want revenge when someone they care about dies." The whole pack growled. The bloodsuckers did too. The fortune telling bloodsucker looked like she was doing the vampire equivalent of crying. Was it really that desperate? If we stood no chance, why didn't we just attack now?

The doctor was talking again. "Why are you going to kill Bella?"

Ellie looked at him, her expression immeasurably sad. No, sad wasn't the right word. She looked like someone who knows what's coming, knows they can't stop it, and is trying anyway. Her fate wasn't sealed yet. If she let Bella go, we probably wouldn't kill her.

"Why?" The doctor wanted to keep her talking.

"You'll see." Then Ellie jerked her arm, and Bella went limp. I couldn't hear her heart beating. I couldn't hear her breathing.

"Rune!" Ellie screamed at the sky. Was she crazy? "I did it! Now let Liam go!" There was a collective gasp as a figure appeared in the sky. He looked purple.

"Who?" He looked like he was like Ellie, and he had a sly expression on his face.

"Rune," Ellie all but growled. "My brother, Liam. You swore you'd let him go once she was dead. She's dead." Ellie gestured at Bella's body, lying on the ground.

"Oh, this brother." A boy was pushed towards Rune. He grabbed him. He looked a lot like Ellie. His hands were bound behind him. He was covered in grime, and there were scratches on his arms and face. "I never had him. Consider our bargain fulfilled." The boy disappeared.

Ellie dropped to her knees. At first, it looked like she was crying. Water began to gather around her. She put her hand on Bella's body. That was it. I started forward. Ellie didn't look up. She just put her other hand above her, and a shield formed over her. A shiver ran down her body. I swiped at her. My paw bounced off of the shield.

"Come on, come on!" Ellie closed her eyes, and dropped the shield. Behind me, the fortune teller gasped.

"Jacob, stop!" I didn't listen to the bloodsucker. I swiped at Ellie, knocking her away from Bella. She growled at me. She stood, forming a sphere of water. It shot out of her hands toward Bella. I tried to stop it. I didn't know why, exactly. Bella was dead. It split into two parts, swerving around me. Both hit Bella in the chest at the same time.
