It had been seven days now. Seven days since Shigaraki forced me into quirk-suppression cuffs. Seven days since he had locked me in the closet that was technically my room. Seven days of only being let out once at night to use the restroom. Seven days without being provided food or water. Seven days without a shower.

I had finished the last of the stale crackers and partial water bottle I kept hidden in the closet floor boards, early yesterday. Shigaraki's most preferred method of punishment was locking me in my closet and starving me for several days at a time. I always tried to keep a small ration of food and water hidden in the floor for these moments.

My closet was cold and poorly ventilated. I only ever had a small holey blanket to sleep with. The closet was small but then again so were the amount of possessions I owned. A couple changes of clothes, my phone charger, my phone (when I wasn't being punished) … that was all I owned. All shoved into my worn-out backpack that only had one shoulder strap still intact.

What was the point of owning a lot when we moved locations once or twice a year? Shigaraki also didn't see the point in buying me things when I didn't earn it. And I never earned it. In his mind I wasn't pulling my weight until I started playing key roles in the league activities. That meant killing, and I didn't kill.

The closet door creaked open as Kurogiri peered down at me. The bright light from the room suddenly flooded into my dark closet, causing me to squint.

"Ms. Kyana," His expression unreadable as always, "Master Shigaraki requests your presence downstairs immediately."

I slowly stood up, my body aching from being confined for so long. My chest still had a dull throb when I moved. I nervously made my way downstairs as I clasped my hands together.

Maybe I can stay out now. Maybe Shigaraki isn't mad anymore. I can be good.

Kurogiri made his way back to his usual position behind the bar. Shigaraki had his back to me as I stepped forward cautiously. I froze when I saw the letter sitting on the bar in front of him. The big U.A emblem stamped right in the middle of it.

"This was delivered to the post office for you." Shigaraki scratched his neck anxiously before sliding the letter down the bar towards me, "Well, let's see squirt. Did you fail us this time or did you manage to pull through?"

I hesitantly picked up the letter. My fingers trembled as I opened it. My hands shook so bad, causing the contents to fall out onto the counter. A beam of light shot out from the coin-shaped object that had landed on the counter, causing me to squeak slightly and jump back.

Shigaraki let out a growl as a vieo of All Might appeared. My eyes widen, completely confused.

"I am here! As a projection of course!" All Might proclaimed excitedly, "It is great pleasure to announce that I will be one of the teachers amongst the U.A. staff this academic year!"

"I knew it! Giran's intel was right." Shigaraki chuckled, stopping his anxious scratching.

"Ms. Hasanai! Your performance on the written exam was outstanding! One of the highest results we have ever received on the exam!"

My eyes widened even more, not expecting to score that well. Shigaraki gave me a half grin that was just barely visible from beneath that hand on his face. Kurogiri remained unfazed.

"Ah! But that is correct Ms. Hasanai. The exam is not just based off of the written portion! As you are probably aware, your performance on the physical examination is the highest contributing factor to anyone's admittance into U.A."

I lowered my head, knowing that I did not perform very well in the physical exams. I was aware of the many examinees having totals up to seventy-six points on take downs of faux villains alone. I only had eight. I knew Shigaraki was going to be disappointed in me failing.

"During the physical exam, you young Hasanai received a low score of just eight points. Eight points is surely not enough to pass the physical exam." My stomach dropped as All Might paused, "But what Hero Academy would U.A be if they only took villain points into consideration? A terrible one! We also look at other factors that are deemed worthy of a hero! Rescue points!"

"What?" I looked back up at the screen in surprise.

A clip played of the moment I came into relieve the struggling boys from the faux villains.

"The two lads were struggling Ms. Hasanai! A fact that you did not ignore!" All Might gave a thumbs up during his explanation, "Those boys would not have been able to defeat those villains, and could have been severely injured if you had not stepped in. And for that a panel of judges have decided to award you… twenty rescue points! But of course, twenty-eight points is not enough to pass the exam… and then this happened!"

The clip continued to play, showing when the robot's arm cut the building in half. I watched the scene play out, showing the building as it was sliding off it's lower half; moments away from crushing us. The clip caught everything. It caught the moment I shoved the other examinee to safety with my bass, sacrificing myself. It continued to play until the large piece of rubble impacted with my chest.

"Ms. Laykia Hasanai. What you did in that moment was very dangerous. You were placed in a situation in which you did not know your impending fate yet you chose to save a stranger. Despite your save being sloppy, risking your life for another's is one of the daily possibilities a hero faces. You accepted that possibility head on! An amazing save! And for that you were awarded…fourty-six rescue points! Tying you for second place on the leader board with a young man named Eijiro Kirishima!"

I froze, Shigaraki froze. The room fell so silent you could hear a pin drop.

Did I? Wait that's not possible! Did I really –

"Laykia Hasanai. Welcome to the U.A. hero course! Congratulations! I look forward to helping guide you on your path to becoming a hero!" The projection disappeared as the video ended.

Tears welled in my eyes as I let out a small squeal of joy, jumping up and down.

"I DID IT! I did it!" I ran forward, throwing my arms around Shigaraki's neck, hugging him. "Did you hear that! I didn't fail! I didn't fail Tomura! I did good! The league still has a chance to succeed!"

Shigaraki folded in his thumb before using one hand to pat my back in praise. I tightened my hold on him momentarily before stepping back again, a huge grin on my face. I could feel how bright and hot my face was from excitement.

"You did good kid. I was concerned for a moment, but you really pulled it off." He gave me one of his usual smirks as he patted my shoulder, "Good job."

I beamed even more than I thought was possible at the praise, practically jumping up and down in excitement. He wasn't angry at me anymore.

I did good…
